Media bias: once again, a news article about a financially struggling single mother trying to raise her children makes absolutely no mention of their father

The Guardian recently published this article about a single mother who is having financial troubles as she tries to raise her two children on the salary that she gets from working at a fast food restaurant.

As is always the case with articles like this, the article makes absolutely no mention of the children’s father. (I have written about this media irresponsibility before – see here and here.)

In this particular case, the article refers to the woman as “a single mother of two.”

It doesn’t say that she is “divorced,” or that she is “widowed.”

The article makes absolutely zero mention of the children’s father.

The article does quote the woman as saying:

“At the top of America, when it comes to Trump and them, their goal is to keep us down. Between these billion-dollar companies and Trump, it’s a power trip.”

So now it’s Trump’s fault that this woman is a single mother of two.

I’d like to see the results of the DNA test for that.

If Trump is in fact the father of her children, then yes, it is Trump’s fault that she is having so much financial trouble.

Otherwise, Trump has no fault whatsoever in her situation.

The article also talks about how the woman is part of the movement to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

But in the real world, even liberals themselves do not want to pay fast food workers $15 an hour.

In December 2013, I made this blog post, which is titled “I dare liberals to buy a McDonald’s franchise, and pay the workers $15 an hour.”

More than three years later, I followed it up with this blog post, which is titled, “Hypocrite liberals have rejected my challenge for them to buy a McDonald’s franchise and pay the workers $15 an hour.”

I also made this other blog post, which is titled, “In the real world, no liberal has ever bought a McDonald’s franchise and paid the workers $15 an hour.”

So even liberals themselves are not willing to pay McDonald’s workers $15 an hour.

Here is some information that liberals never talk about:

Let’s consider two groups of people in the U.S. The first group has a poverty rate of 2%. The second group has a poverty rate of 76%.

The first group consists of people who followed all three of these steps:

1) Finish high school.

2) Get a full-time job.

3) Wait until age 21 and get married before having children.

The second group consists of people who followed zero of those three steps.

Among people who follow all three of these steps, the poverty rate is 2%.

Among people who follow zero of these steps, the poverty rate is 76%.

(My source for that information is this article, which refers to this PDF, and the relevant data is on page 15 of the PDF. The study uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau.)

Finally, here is a seven minute video with information that liberals never talk about. In my opinion, every middle school and high school in the U.S. should show this to all of their students, repeatedly, every year.

Venezuela bans the importation of “war materials” such as first aid kits, eye drops, antacids, gauze, surgical tape, and burn cream

Medicines, Supplies Grounded in U.S. After Venezuela Tags Them ‘War Material’

June 2, 2017

MIAMI — After four years of sending monthly shipments of medicine and food for hospitals and needy people in Venezuela, Move Org, a non-profit based in Miami, abruptly stopped three weeks ago.

Move Org had been sending up to five to seven pallets of donations monthly to help alleviate the burden that the economic and political crisis gripping the South American nation has had on its people.

But recently, the Venezuelan government banned the import of a series of items they deem “war material.”

Some of the products banned are… medical products such as first aid kits, eye drops, antacids, gauze, surgical tape, and burn cream, among others.

“… how can they ban medicine?” questioned Milagros Ramirez, CEO of the nonprofit, Sanando, which means “healing” in Spanish. She founded the group in Venezuela over ten years ago.

She has been living in South Florida for the past two years and has been sending medicine and food for hospitals, orphanages, and nonprofits. Like Move Org, she also stopped the group’s weekly shipments to Venezuela three weeks ago.

“Everything you can think of is needed in Venezuela,” she said. Ramirez said something as simple as denture adhesive is important. “Without it, people who wear dentures cannot eat.” Many of the items Sanando sends are now banned. She feels terrible for the children and senior citizens who badly need them.

Courier services can be found throughout Miami and they are used to send mostly food and medicine back home to relatives. In the midst of the allegations from officials and rumors that boxes are being opened and confiscated, some Venezuelan courier companies have completely stopped shipping food and medicine over an abundance of caution.

Alcala, the Vice-President of Move Org, says she relies on acquaintances traveling from Miami to Caracas to hand-carry medicines to her mother. At 90, she suffers from Alzheimer and is diabetic. She said tear gas often seeps into her mother’s home through cracks in windows and doors. She wants to send her surgical masks to moisten with Maalox in order to protect her from the gas effects. But she says both are banned and hasn’t found a way to get them to her. “It’s not fair. It’s just not fair.”

I hope the Washington Post will either confirm or debunk these statements by the Southern Poverty Law Center about Jason Kessler, the organizer of the alt-right rally in Charlottesville

Jason Kessler is the organizer of the alt-right rally that recently took place in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Southern Poverty Law Center wrote of Kessler:

Rumors abound on white nationalist forums that Kessler’s ideological pedigree before 2016 was less than pure and seem to point to involvement in the Occupy movement and past support for President Obama.

At one recent speech in favor of Charlottesville’s status as a sanctuary city, Kessler live-streamed himself as an attendee questioned him and apologized for an undisclosed spat during Kessler’s apparent involvement with Occupy. Kessler appeared visibly perturbed by the woman’s presence and reminders of their past association.

Regardless of Kessler’s past politics, the rightward shift in his views was first put on display in November, 2016 when his tirade against Wes Bellamy began.

If this had been posted by some right wing conspiracy blog, I would dismiss it as being fake news.

But this was published by a highly reputable left wing source.

I hope the Washington Post will investigate this to either debunk it or confirm it.

If it is true, then Kessler is a left wing nut job masquerading as a right wing nut job.

Some Venezuelans have not had a full meal in days

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/hungry-venezuelans-turn-colombia-plate-food-49206924

Hungry Venezuelans turn to Colombia for a plate of food

Associated Press

CUCUTA, Colombia — Aug 14, 2017

Under a scorching sun just a short walk from Colombia’s border with Venezuela, hundreds of hungry men, women and children line up for bowls of chicken and rice — the first full meal some have eaten in days.

An estimated 25,000 Venezuelans make the trek across the Simon Bolivar International Bridge into Colombia each day. Many come for a few hours to work or trade goods on the black market, looking for household supplies they cannot find back home.

But increasingly, they are coming to eat in one of a half-dozen facilities offering struggling Venezuelans a free plate of food.

“I never thought I’d say this,” said Erick Oropeza, 29, a former worker with Venezuela’s Ministry of Education who recently began crossing the bridge each day. “But I’m more grateful for what Colombia has offered me in this short time than what I ever received from Venezuela my entire life.”

As Venezuela’s economy verges on collapse and its political upheaval worsens, cities like Cucuta along Colombia’s porous, 1,370-mile (2,200-kilometer) border with Venezuela have become firsthand witnesses to the neighboring South American nation’s escalating humanitarian crisis.

According to one recent survey, about 75 percent of Venezuelans lost an average of 19 pounds (8.7 kilograms) last year.

The Colombian government has crafted contingency plans in the event of a sudden, mass exodus, but already church groups and nonprofit organizations are stepping in, moved by images of mothers carrying starving babies and skinny men trying to make a few bucks on Cucuta’s streets to bring back home.

Paulina Toledo, 47, a Colombian hairstylist who recently helped feed lunch to 900 Venezuelans, said seeing how hungry they were “hurt my soul.”

“Those of us here on the border are seeing their pain,” she said.

People living on either side of the Colombia-Venezuela border have long had a foot in both countries: A Colombian who lives in Cucuta might cross to visit relatives in San Cristobal; a Venezuelan might make the reverse trip to work or go to school.

In the years when Venezuela’s oil industry was booming and Colombia entangled in a half-century armed conflict, an estimated 4 million Colombians migrated to Venezuela. Many started coming back as Venezuela’s economy began to implode and after President Nicolas Maduro closed the border in 2015 and expelled 20,000 Colombians overnight.

Oropeza said he earned about $70 a month working at the Ministry of Education and selling hamburgers on the side — twice Venezuela’s minimum wage but still not enough to feed a family of four. Once a month his family receives a bundle of food provided by the government, but it only lasts a week.

“So the other three weeks, like most Venezuelans, we have to make magic happen,” he said on a recent afternoon.

Desperate for money to feed his family, he left his job and traveled to the Venezuelan border town of San Antonio. He wakes up at 4 a.m. each morning to be among the first crossing the bridge into Cucuta, where he earns money selling soft drinks on the street.

He goes straight to the “Casa de Paso,” a church-run shelter that has served 60,000 meals to Venezuelans since opening two months ago. On an average day, 2,000 Venezuelans line up for meals, getting a ticket to reserve their spot and then waiting four hours for a meal served at outdoor plastic tables.

Workers stir gigantic metal pots filled with chicken and rice set on the bare dirt floor. Volunteers hand out boxes of juice to tired-looking children. Adults sit quietly, savoring their bowl of food as chickens waddle between them.

“Every day I have to remind myself why I am here,” said Oropeza, dressed in a faded striped collared shirt. “I try to repeat it to myself so that I won’t, you know, so those moments of weakness don’t affect you so much.”

When he’s not helping out or waiting in line at the shelter kitchen, Oropeza sells malted soft drinks for about 50 cents each. He’s been able to bring money back to his family and has earned enough to buy a cellphone, which he’d lacked for two years.

Jose David Canas, a priest, said his church will continue to serve food “as long as God allows.”

“Until they close the border,” he said. “Until everything is eaten or until the province tells us that they no longer have lunches to give out. And then it’s the end.”

R.I.P. Heather Heyer

Heather Heyer, Charlottesville Victim, Called ‘a Strong Woman’

August 13, 2017

Heather D. Heyer was killed on Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., after a car crashed into demonstrators protesting a white supremacy rally. Credit Heather Heyer, via Facebook, via Reuters

Heather D. Heyer, who was killed in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday when a car plowed into a crowd that was protesting a rally of white nationalists, was a passionate advocate for the disenfranchised and was often moved to tears by the world’s injustices, her supervisor said.

“Heather was a very strong woman,” said Alfred A. Wilson, manager of the bankruptcy division at the Miller Law Group in Charlottesville, where Ms. Heyer worked as a paralegal. He said she stood up against “any type of discrimination. That’s just how she’s always been.”

Mr. Wilson said in an interview on Sunday that he found her at her computer crying many times.

“Heather being Heather has seen something on Facebook or read something in the news and realized someone has been mistreated and gets upset,” he said.

A couple of years ago, she was dating someone who became agitated after learning that Mr. Wilson was black and that they were friends.

“She just didn’t like the way he was judging me as a minority male that’s doing well for myself,” Mr. Wilson said, adding that Ms. Heyer stopped seeing the man after that.

Mr. Wilson hired Ms. Heyer at the recommendation of a friend. She had a high school diploma but did not have a background in law. She was working as a bartender and waitress, but he said she had an eye for detail and was “a people person.”

“If you can get people to open up to you, that’s what I need,” he told her. “I’ll teach you everything about the law you need to know.”

Her only flaw, he said with a laugh was that she liked to sleep late. “I had to change my office work hours just to meet her schedule,” he said.

She worked to improve herself by taking classes and studying.

“If she’s going to do something, she made sure she understood it,” he said. She was so devoted that during her first two years on the job she didn’t take any vacations, he said.

“To have someone like Heather believe in you, that’s one of the best things that could happen to you as a person,” Mr. Wilson said.

She lived alone with her Chihuahua, Violet, who was named after her favorite color.

Ms. Heyer and other paralegals at the firm attended the protest in Charlottesville, where she lived. They were walking together when a car crashed into the crowd.

James Alex Fields Jr., 20, of Maumee, Ohio, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and failing to stop at the scene of a crash that resulted in a death, the police said.

Charlottesville, in a statement about Ms. Heyer, said: “This senseless act of violence rips a hole in our collective hearts. While it will never make up for the loss of a member of our community, we will pursue charges against the driver of the vehicle that caused her death and are confident justice will prevail.”

Here are pictures of the 400-square-foot bathroom that cost New York City taxpayers $2 million

Councilman can’t believe city spent $2M on this tiny park bathroom

July 6, 2017

A Brooklyn councilman is accusing the city of flushing $2 million down the toilet while building a public restroom at a local park.

Democrat David Greenfield told WCBS-TV on Wednesday that it took him 7½ years to get City Hall to repair the formerly run-down Gravesend Park on 18th Avenue.

But the newly refurbished park became a pyrrhic victory for Greenfield when he learned it cost $2 million to build the new, 400-square-foot bathroom facility.

“I’m frustrated that we are essentially wasting taxpayer money,” Greenfield said. “You can build a complete house in six months for $1 million.”

He pointed blame directly at Mayor Bill de Blasio, explaining, “The buck stops with the administration and at the end of the day, if the administration really made this their priority, they could figure out a way to cut the red tape.”

Republican mayoral candidate Nicole Malliotakis also piled on the administration, saying the project was plagued by “mismanagement.

“You get a feeling in this administration that taxpayer money grows on trees,” she said.

When measured in kwh per square foot, Al Gore’s Tennessee mansion was rated as an “energy hog,” and used more than four times as many kwh per square foot as homes that were rated as “energy efficient”

http://www.nationalcenter.org/NPA679.html

August 2017

Many Gore defenders point to the large size of his residence as an explanation for his massive energy consumption.

The facts, however, do not bear this argument out.

According to Energy Vanguard, a company devoted to making homes more energy efficient, an “efficient” home uses between 5-10 kWh of electricity per square foot each year. A house that consumes 15 kWh per square foot or more of electricity per year is categorized as “bad” due to its inefficiency and excessive electricity consumption. Homes that expend more than 20 kWh of electricity per square foot each year are labeled “energy hogs,” which is Energy Vanguard’s worst rating.

Gore’s home consumed 22.9 kWh per square foot in the past 12 months, more than quadrupling the electricity consumption of homes that are considered energy efficient, regardless of size. Based on its kWh per square foot measure, the house would easily earn an “energy hog” rating.

Even by apples-to-apples comparison, Gore’s home is extraordinarily energy inefficient and consumes an astonishing amount of electricity.

MGTOW: Court rules in favor of woman who committed paternity fraud, orders non-father to pay $65,000 or go to jail

In Texas, this woman falsely said that this guy was the only man who could possibly be the father of her baby. Afterward, a DNA test proved that she had lied. Nevertheless, a court ordered the non-father to pay $65,000 in child support or go to jail. And the woman who lied in order to commit paternity fraud is not being prosecuted for her fraud.

It’s horrible that this woman lied. But it’s about a trillion times worse that the court sided with this liar and against the non-father. And yet some people wonder why the MGTOW movement exists.

Bondi synagogue ban over terrorism risk leaves Jewish community shocked and furious

August 3, 2017

A local council has banned the construction of a synagogue in Bondi because it could be a terrorist target, in a shock move that religious leaders say has caved in to Islamic extremism and created a dangerous precedent.

The decision, which has rocked the longstanding Jewish community in the iconic suburb, was upheld in court this week as the nation reeled from the alleged airline terror threat and debate raged over increased security measures at airports and other public places.

A woman who was raised by Nigerian immigrants explains why so many American blacks live in poverty

This is the best commentary on black poverty that I have heard or read in my life.

The speaker in this video is a child of Nigerian immigrants.

She spends the entire seven minutes saying one politically incorrect thing after another.

Her basic point is that black poverty is caused by bad behavior, not by racism.

And she cites numerous statistics to back this up.

For example, she points out that Nigerian-Americans have higher average incomes than whites, and she attributes this to their behavior, including strong commitments to marriage, education, and obeying the law.

She says that if Black Lives Matter truly cared about black people, it would tell them to stop having babies out of wedlock.

Here are seven questions that I asked wikipedia moderators right before I got permanently banned. They never answered any of my questions.

The following is one of wikipedia’s most important rules:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view

Wikipedia:Neutral point of view

All encyclopedic content on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), which means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic.

NPOV is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia and of other Wikimedia projects. It is also one of Wikipedia’s three core content policies; the other two are “Verifiability” and “No original research”. These policies jointly determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles, and, because they work in harmony, they should not be interpreted in isolation from one another. Editors are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with all three.

This policy is non-negotiable, and the principles upon which it is based cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, nor by editor consensus.

I myself was permanently banned from wikipedia because I followed this rule.

Amazon took down my Obama book and did not tell me why (Update: the book is now available)

Amazon took down my Obama book and did not tell me why.

Before the book was removed, I had added some search terms that were the titles and authors of other political books, because I thought people who searched for those other political books might like to read my book. Afterward, I received en email saying that these new search terms had been approved, and that my book was available.

However, quite a few days later, I received another email email saying that those new search terms were in violation of their policy, and that if I did not remove them within 72 hours, the book would be taken down. I immediately removed those search terms. And they even sent me another email saying that my changes had been approved, and that the book was available. But then a few days later, they took the book down anyway.

When they took the book down, they never explained why. I have since contacted them requesting an explanation, but the person who wrote back said they are sending my question to someone else who is better equipped to answer. I am still awaiting their reply.

Here is the dead link:

And here is the internet archive of the same link:

https://web.archive.org/web/20170212170528/https://www.amazon.com/examples-lawbreaking-corruption-cronyism-hypocrisy-ebook/dp/B01E4U36NE

Update: amazon sent me an email which said my book will be available within 24 hours. However, they have still not explained why they took it down in the first place.

Update: the book is now available. But they still haven’t told me why they removed it.
