No jail for Eric Clanton, the Antifa “ethics” professor who used a metal bike lock to assault seven innocent Trump supporters
This video shows a masked Antifa thug using a metal bike lock to smash the head of an innocent Trump supporter at Berkeley, California, in April 2017:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qKCl9NL1Cg
Some awesomely talented amateur sleuth observers at 4chan later identified the thug based on his partially visible face, his clothing, and several other things.
Any one of these things by itself is pretty meaningless. But taken together, it is extremely likely that they identified the correct person.
For specific details, see here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
The police also did their own investigation, and when they searched the person’s house, they found clothing and other items that matched that of the person in the video. Phone records also show that the person was present during the assault.
And it turns out that the thug is left wing Diablo Valley College “ethics” professor Eric Clanton.
Clanton supports shoplifting, opposes private ownership of property, and has defended convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Earlier this month, we got this new article, which says that Clanton won’t be getting any prison time for his brutal assaults against seven innocent Trump supporters.
It says he used the metal bike lock to assault the heads of at least seven people. It also details the evidence the police found in his home tying him to these attacks.
It’s completely despicable that Clanton is not getting any prison time for what he did.
Conservatives Paul Joseph Watson and Candace Owens post mugshots of Antifa members to prove that liberal CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin is wrong about their skin color
After President Trump recently warned about possible violence from Antifa members, CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said:
“Let’s be clear also about what’s going on here. The theme here is, ‘I’m Donald Trump and I’ll protect you from the scary black people.'”
“Antifa is widely perceived as an African-American organization, and this is just part of the same story of LeBron James and Don Lemon and Maxine Waters and the NFL players and the UCLA basketball players.”
“This is about black versus white. This is about Donald Trump’s appeal to racism and it just happens all the time. And we never say it. We don’t say it enough for what it is, but that’s what’s going on here.”
You can hear him saying it in this video:

Julius Malema
Julius Sello Malema (born 3 March 1981) is a Member of Parliament and the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, a far-left and racial nationalist South African political party, which he founded in July 2013. He previously served as President of the African National Congress Youth League from 2008 to 2012. Malema was a member of the ANC until his expulsion from the party in April 2012. He occupies a notably controversial position in South African public and political life, having risen to prominence with his support for ANC president, and later President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma. He was described by both Zuma and the Premier of Limpopo Province as the “future leader” of South Africa. Less favourable portraits paint him as a “reckless populist” with the potential to destabilise South Africa and to spark racial conflict.

Idiots are protesting against the convenience store where Michael Brown stole merchandise and assaulted an employee
Before Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, this security footage from Ferguson Market and Liquor showed Brown stealing merchandise and assaulting a store employee. Skip to 1:13
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbPbX76cOVQ
Four years later, this brand new article form the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says:
“Protesters believe that the surveillance clip mischaracterized Brown.”
The protestors aren’t saying that the footage was edited, altered, or changed in any way.
Instead, they are saying that the footage mischaracterized Brown.
They are wrong. Instead, the footage shows exactly what Michael’s Brown’s character was like.
The protestors have also made the following demands of the store:
Address Michael Brown Jr.’s character.
Close the store for three days on the anniversary of his death.
Create a scholarship in his name.
Find ways to interact and give back to the community.
Stop selling Dormin, a sleeping capsule, and other items that can be misused to get high.
Retain a black-owned security company to protect the store.
The same article states:
… the store ultimately agreed to all of the requests by Wednesday, other than closing the store for three days. Instead, he said, the store would close on the anniversary of Brown’s death and provide a free barbecue the day before.
The store never did anything wrong in the first place, so there was no rational reason for the protestors to make these demands, and there was no rational reason for the store to cave in to their demands.
Here’s a photograph of people protesting against the store:

Apparently, Elizabeth Warren doesn’t think that Mollie Tibbett’s murder by an illegal alien is a “real problem”
When asked about Mollie Tibbett’s murder by an illegal alien, Elizabeth Warren starts out by giving what seems like a very sincere and heartfelt response.
Good for her!
But then she says “but,” and says we need to focus on “real problems.”

Elizabeth Warren on the Tibbetts murder: Sad she’s dead, but ‘we have to remember’ we need an immigration system that ‘focuses on where real problems are’
August 22, 2018
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is sorry that a 20-year-old Iowa student is dead and that a reported illegal alien has been charged in the killing, but the Massachusetts Democrat wants to stay focused on the “real problems.”
This isn’t a paraphrase of something she said Wednesday on CNN. This is her actual response to a question about reports that law enforcement agents have charged Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, in the disappearance and murder of Mollie Tibbetts.
“I’m so sorry for the family here, and I know this is hard, not only for the family, but for the people in her community, the people throughout Iowa,” Warren told CNN’s John Berman. “But one of the things we have to remember is: We need an immigration system that is effective. That focuses on where real problems are.”
Berman asking the senator specifically to respond to President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence claiming the Tibbetts murder is proof of the need for stronger immigration enforcement.
Warren continued, saying, “Uh, last month, I went down to the border, and I saw where children had been taken away from their mothers. I met with those mothers, who had been lied to, who didn’t know where their children were, who hadn’t had a chance to talk to their children. And there was no plan for how they’d be reunified with their children.”
Tibbetts’ remains were found early Tuesday morning, according to law enforcement officials. Rivera, who authorities believe has been living in the U.S. illegally for four to seven years, has been charged with first-degree murder. His bail was set Tuesday at $1 million.
“I think we need immigration laws that focus on people who pose a real threat, and I don’t think mammas and babies are the place where we should be spending our resources. Separating a mamma from a baby does not make this country safe,” Warren said.
Trump signed an executive order on June 20 reversing the policy of separating illegal immigrant families. And as to the issue of mothers being separated from their babies, I think Tibbetts’ mother, Laura Calderwood, might have some thoughts on that.
The Washington Examiner’s Phil Klein disagreed Wednesday with the criticisms of Warren, arguing the Massachusetts senator had not really stepped in it with “outrageously tone-deaf” comment.
“I’m no Warren fan, but this strikes me as a stretch. In clip she goes on to say we need to focus on actual threats, and that family separation doesn’t make us safe,” he wrote. “She isn’t saying that a young girl getting killed isn’t a problem.”
I disagree that the negative reaction is a stretch. The criticisms are well-deserved. Her comments follow a clear path. She starts by saying she’s sorry about the Tibbetts murder, and then changes the subject to attack Trump over an immigration policy he rescinded two months ago.
It’s true Warren’s remarks were about the White House’s response to the murder. That doesn’t take away from the “but” in her “I’m sorry someone is dead” response. There should never be a “but” in those statements.
Linda Sarsour’s favorite country arrests seven feminists for speaking out against Sharia law. They could get the death penalty.
Linda Sarsour organized the Women’s March in January 2017.
Sarsour made this tweet, which says the following:
“10 weeks of PAID maternity leave in Saudi Arabia. Yes PAID. And ur worrying about women driving. Puts us to shame.”
She also made this tweet, which says:
“shariah law is reasonable and once u read into the details it makes a lot of sense. People just know the basics”
and this tweet, which says:
“You’ll know when you’re living under Sharia Law if suddenly all your loans & credit cards become interest free. Sound nice, doesn’t it?”
and this tweet, which says:
“If you are still paying interest than Sharia Law hasn’t taken over America.”
These statement’s prove that Sarsour wants the U.S. to adopt Sharia law.
Sharia law bans women from driving cars, prohibits women from appearing alone in public, calls for girls to have their genitals mutilated, and gives a woman’s testimony in court only half the value of a man’s.
I just found out that three months ago, Saudi Arabia arrested seven feminists because they spoke out against Sharia law. They could get the death penalty.
Linda Sarsour, apparently, supports this.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks the U.S. has 500 million people
As of July 1, 2017, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates the U.S. population to be 325,719,178.
However, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks the U.S. has 500 million people.
She recently stated:
“200 million Americans make less than $20,000 a year. That’s 40% of this country.”
Skip to 4:45 in this video to hear her say those words:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUmIdCClbTE
I certainly would not expect her or anyone else to know the exact number. If she or anyone else had said that the U.S. population was 325 million or 330 million, that would be perfectly reasonable.
But 500 million?
Trying to figure out the real reason Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bans reporters from her town hall events
The New York Times reports that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has banned the media from two of her town hall meetings.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted the following explanation for the ban:
“Our community is 50% immigrant. Folks are victims of DV, trafficking, + have personal medical issues.”
“This town hall was designed for residents to feel safe discussing sensitive issues in a threatening political time.”
“We indicated previously that it would be closed to press.”
Ben Jacobs, a reporter for The Guardian, responded with the following tweet:
“And how does the presence of reporters make people feel unsafe?”
I think Jacob’s question is an excellent one.
I’d also like to point out that all of the other Congressional districts also have constituents who are “victims of domestic violence” and who have “personal medical issues,” but that the Congressional representatives and candidates of those other districts haven’t banned the media from their town hall events.
In the video below, YouTuber Styxhexenhammer666 says that one possible reason for Ocasio-Cortez’s media ban is that any illegal aliens in attendance would – justifiably – worry about being filmed by the media. However, he then goes on to say that Ocasio-Cortez could ask the media to keep their cameras focused on her and not the audience, and that they would likely comply.
Styxhexenhammer666 then goes on to say that he thinks her real reason for banning the media is that there might be a constituent in attendance who asks her a tough question about economics that she can’t answer. Specifically, he says that she doesn’t seem to understand that the only reason that democratic socialism in countries like Norway works is because there is a strong, healthy private sector to pay the taxes to fund it. Take away that strong, healthy private sector, and your country ends up like Venezuela.
I agree with him on both of these points.

The only difference between the two searches was whether I used the word “left” or “right.”
Here’s the link for the first search:
And here’s the screen capture for the first search.
And here’s what is on the screen when I scroll down to the very next, immediate part of the results for the first search:
So when I searched for reporters assaulted by left wing protesters, I got exactly what I searched for.
Here’s the link for the second search:
And here’s the screen capture for the second search.
And here’s what is on the screen when I scroll down to the very next, immediate part of the results for the second search:
So even when I specifically searched for assaults against reporters by right wing protesters, the search still resulted with the first items being assaults against reporters by left wing protesters.
So even with google, it’s hard to find examples of assaults on reporters by right wing protesters.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez falsely says “that upper-middle class does not exist anymore in America”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said:
“They [national Democrats] were campaigning most when we had more of an American middle class. This upper-middle class is probably more moderate but that upper-middle class does not exist anymore in America.”
The Washington Post responded with the following:
“… the upper-middle class has actually grown. In a 2016 paper published by the Urban Institute, Stephen J. Rose documented that the upper-middle class has grown substantially, from 12.9 percent of the population in 1979 to 29.4 percent in 2014.”
The same Washington Post article also included this chart:
I don’t think Ocasio-Cortez was deliberately lying when she made her comment.
Instead, I think she is genuinely ignorant of a lot of basic facts that get regularly reported in the mainstream media.

Palestinian Congressional Candidate ASSAULTS Jewish Journalist at Political Event
August 12, 2018
A journalist was assaulted by a soon-to-be congresswoman while asking her questions at a political rally for U.S. Congressional candidate Ilhan Omar in Minnesota on Saturday.
Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian Muslim who won her primary in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District on Tuesday, forcefully grabbed Jewish journalist Laura Loomer and stole her phone when Loomer approached her to ask questions at the rally.
In the Middle East, violence against Jews may be tolerable. In America, where Tlaib – running unopposed after her primary win – and is set to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives, it is not. In fact, all types of political violence are denounced in America. The violent political left seems to have missed the memo.
Tlaib refused to answer Loomer when asked whether she was willing to admit that Palestinian Sunni-Islamist fundamentalist organization Hamas is a terrorist organization. The group is officially recognized as such by the federal government.

So here is my question for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Do you agree or disagree with Linda Sarsour’s statements that the U.S. should adopt Sharia law?

Shapiro responded to that by saying, among other things:
“Have you met me? Have you seen me? Do I seem like the kind of guy who catcalls ladies? I’m an Orthodox Jew who was a virgin until I was marred.”

Study shows global forest loss over past 35 years has been more than offset by new forest growth
Satellite measurements show that between 1982 to 2016, the total global land area covered by trees increased by a net amount equal to the combined area of Texas and Alaska.
This does not surprise me, because I already knew that among countries with an annual per capita GDP of least $4,600, deforestation has ceased to exist.

A team of researchers from the University of Maryland, the State University of New York and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center has found that new global tree growth over the past 35 years has more than offset global tree cover losses. In their paper published in the journal Nature, the group describes using satellite data to track forest growth and loss over the past 35 years and what they found by doing so.
There has been a growing consensus in recent years that because humans cut down so many trees (most particularly in the rainforests) that global tree cover is shrinking. In this new effort, the researchers have found that not to be the case. They contend that global tree cover is actually increasing.
To track global tree cover changes, the researchers studied data from advanced very high-resolution radiometers aboard a series of 16 weather satellites covering the years 1982 to 2016. By comparing daily readings, the researchers were able to see small changes occurring regularly over a relatively long period of time—which added up to large changes. Over the entire span, the researchers found that new tree cover had offset tree cover loss by approximately 2.24 million square kilometers — which they note is approximately the size of Texas and Alaska combined.
The researchers report that most of the new tree cover occurred in places that had previously been barren, such as in deserts, tundra areas, on mountains, in cities and in other non-vegetated land. They further report that much of the new growth came about due to efforts by humans (such as reforestation efforts in China and parts of Africa) and because of global warming—warmer temperatures have raised timberlines in some mountainous regions, and allowed forests to creep into tundra areas. Other areas of new tree growth resulted from large farm abandonments in places like Russia and the U.S. The researchers report that their calculations showed that human activities have directly caused approximately 60 percent of new global tree growth. They suggest their technique for monitoring tree cover could be used to predict tree cover changes in the future due to global warming.

Abstract
Land change is a cause and consequence of global environmental change. Changes in land use and land cover considerably alter the Earth’s energy balance and biogeochemical cycles, which contributes to climate change and—in turn—affects land surface properties and the provision of ecosystem services. However, quantification of global land change is lacking. Here we analyse 35 years’ worth of satellite data and provide a comprehensive record of global land-change dynamics during the period 1982–2016. We show that—contrary to the prevailing view that forest area has declined globally—tree cover has increased by 2.24 million km2 (+7.1% relative to the 1982 level). This overall net gain is the result of a net loss in the tropics being outweighed by a net gain in the extratropics. Global bare ground cover has decreased by 1.16 million km2 (−3.1%), most notably in agricultural regions in Asia. Of all land changes, 60% are associated with direct human activities and 40% with indirect drivers such as climate change. Land-use change exhibits regional dominance, including tropical deforestation and agricultural expansion, temperate reforestation or afforestation, cropland intensification and urbanization. Consistently across all climate domains, montane systems have gained tree cover and many arid and semi-arid ecosystems have lost vegetation cover. The mapped land changes and the driver attributions reflect a human-dominated Earth system. The dataset we developed may be used to improve the modelling of land-use changes, biogeochemical cycles and vegetation–climate interactions to advance our understanding of global environmental change.

The woman in this video talks about what it’s like for her and her family to live off grid with solar panels and batteries. She and her family are real environmentalist who practice what they preach. She says there are some inconveniences, but that they have manged to get used to them. She also says their daily electric usage fell from 60 kwh to between 4 and 6, not counting their limited use of air conditioning, which brings their daily usage up to 10.

43% of Republicans say Trump should be allowed to shut down media
August 7, 2018
President Trump’s repeated cries of “fake news” and attacks on journalists as “enemies of the American people” have resonated with his base, with 43 percent of Republicans saying he “should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior.”
The results — suggesting that a plurality of Republicans would have no problem trashing the First Amendment — came from a stunning new poll conducted by Ipsos and reported Tuesday by the Daily Beast.
The survey also showed that just 36 percent of GOP voters disagreed with that statement.
When asked if Trump should close down specific news organizations, such as CNN, the Washington Post and the New York Times — all frequent Trump targets — 23 percent of GOP voters agreed while 49 percent did not.
Overall, Republicans were more likely to take a dim view of the media, the website reported.
Forty-eight percent said they believed “the news media is the enemy of the American people,” with only 28 percent disagreeing.
Nearly four out of five — 79 percent — said that they believed “the mainstream media treats President Trump unfairly.”
The commander-in-chief — who as recently as January called existing US libel laws “a sham and a disgrace” — has routinely accused journalists of lying, making up sources and knowingly reporting false information to make him look bad.
“The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it’s TRUE. I am providing a great service by explaining this to the American People. They purposely cause great division & distrust. They can also cause War! They are very dangerous & sick!” he ranted Sunday in a typical media-bashing tweet.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently refused to respond when she was asked if she thought journalists were the enemies of the people — though first daughter Ivanka Trump said she disagreed with the characterization.
But it’s not only Republicans who think the president should have the power to muzzle the media, a common practice in dictatorships and authoritarian states like Russia, North Korea and China.
According to the survey, 12 percent of Democrats and 21 percent of independents agreed that “the president should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior.”
Conversely, 74 percent of Dems and 55 percent of independents disagreed with the statement.
But 12 percent of Democrats and 26 percent of independents agreed that “the news media is the enemy of the American people,” while 74 percent of Democrats and 50 percent of independents disagreed.
But there were kernels of positive news for the press in the survey as well.
Overall, 57 percent of those surveyed said they believed the news media and reporters were “necessary to keep the Trump administration honest” — including a 39 percent plurality of Republicans.
And a large majority — 85 percent — believed that “freedom of the press is essential for American democracy,” compared to 4 percent who opposed that statement.
The 43 percent figure roughly corresponds to the president’s loyal base.
Gallup’s most recent weekly tracking poll showed that 41 percent of voters approved of the job Trump is doing while 54 percent disapproved.

Liberals’ favorite country bans Muslim women from wearing full-face veils
Denmark bans Muslim women from wearing full-face veils.
As a person who values individual liberty and limited government, I’d be very much opposed to a law like this in the U.S. It would be a violation of the first amendment, as well as something that I would view as being totalitarian.
But Denmark is the “happiest” and “most progressive” country in the world, and who am I to tell them what to do?
I do have to wonder why Muslims would immigrate to Denmark when it is so Islamophobic.
First woman fined in Denmark for wearing full-face veil
Woman fined 1,000 kroner (£120) and told to either remove her veil or leave the public space
August 4, 2018
A 28-year-old woman wearing a niqab on Friday became the first person in Denmark to be fined for violating a new law banning full-face Islamic veils in public places, media reported.
Police were called to a shopping centre in Horsholm, in the north-eastern region of Nordsjaelland, where the woman had become involved in a scuffle with another woman who had tried to tear her niqab off, police duty officer David Borchersen told the Ritzau news agency.
“During the fight her niqab came off, but by the time we arrived she had put it back on again,” Borchersen said.

Police took a photograph of the woman wearing the niqab, and obtained security camera footage from the shopping centre of the incident.
The woman was informed she would receive a fine of 1,000 kroner (£120) in the post, and was told to either remove her veil or leave the public space.
“She chose the latter,” Borchersen said.
As of 1 August, wearing a burqa, which covers a person’s entire face, or the niqab, which only shows the eyes, in public carries a fine of 1,000 kroner.
Repeated violations can be fined up to 10,000 kroner.
The ban also targets other accessories that hide the face such as balaclavas, masks and false beards.
Human rights campaigners say the ban is a violation of women’s rights, while supporters argue it enables better integration of Muslim immigrants.

Belgium, France, Germany and Austria have also imposed bans or partial bans of full-face veils.
Government spends nearly $1 million of taxpayers’ money on cancer treatment for illegal alien who had repeatedly raped an 8-year-old child
In my opinion, this is a waste of the taxpayers’ money.
Also, there’s something very unfair about this. If this guy was a law abiding U.S. citizen, instead of an illegal alien who had repeatedly raped a child, I’m wondering if he would be getting this much health care for free.

A Utah County inmate was headed to trial and possible deportation. Then came his cancer diagnosis and medical bills nearing $1M.
July 27, 2018
Gerardo Valerio-Romero was in Utah County custody, accused of repeatedly sexually abusing an 8-year-old relative, when he was diagnosed with cancer.
The day after the medical determination, the 49-year-old Mexican citizen was in LDS Hospital receiving cancer treatment, marking the start of an ongoing saga that exposed a rift between the county’s sheriff and its commission as well as medical bills that threaten to top $1 million.
Even at a discount, Valerio-Romero’s cancer treatments have drained the county jail’s medical budget. His case is set for trial early next month, and he’s caught the interest of federal immigration officials who will look at possibly deporting him if he’s acquitted. Until then, he’s in Utah’s court system, where his case is stalled and costs from his treatment continue to climb.
Spoiler:
“It’s a Catch-22,” Sheriff Jim Tracy said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Valerio-Romero when he was arrested in March 2017, meaning ICE asked to be notified when he was convicted or acquitted on six counts of felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child. (He also faces eight felony charges related to forgery and one count of unlawful possession of another person’s identification.)
“A detainer is basically saying, ‘Hey, listen, when you’re going to be releasing him, let us know so that we can pick this guy up,’” ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok said Wednesday.
Valerio-Romero’s trial has twice been delayed, once last August at the request of prosecutors and again in December, when he asked for a new attorney and rejected a plea deal offered by the state (the details of which haven’t been disclosed).
The defendant has waived his right to a speedy trial, the court docket shows.
His next three-day trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 8. It’s unclear whether he’ll be ready to stand trial. If not, Tracy said, his medical treatment will continue to ring up costs for the county.
Valerio-Romero has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. Court filings indicate he may have used the name Jesus Melgoza for work and cashing checks. His attorney, Clayton Simms, didn’t respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
The case was catapulted to the public spotlight early this month, when Tracy took the microphone during public comment at a County Commission meeting and announced he is quitting, partially over the inmate’s medical bills. His last day is Aug. 3.
Commissioners said at the time they were caught off guard by Tracy’s abrupt resignation. They said they believed the office could shift money around to cover immediate costs before the commission can meet next month and adjust its budget.
Commissioner Nathan Ivie was also critical of Valerio-Romero, saying he “shouldn’t even be in this country” because of a prior conviction.
Tracy said Valerio-Romero’s previous conviction wasn’t an offense for which he could be deported.
The sheriff said he was frustrated with the county’s funding of his department over the past 10 years. While he said Valerio-Romero’s case isn’t the only reason he’s quitting, he said Wednesday that things came to a head when he asked for emergency budget help from the commission.
He said commissioners will vote early next month — just after his exit — on emergency funding through year’s end.
“The solution to this problem … was adding additional money,” Tracy said. “This guy pops up with a million-dollar [problem], which we don’t even have. That’s why there was the crisis. The solution has always been from Day One you’re going to have to transfer money” to cover medical costs.
“It’s a mess,” he added. “That’s the final straw that broke the back.”
Trump falsely says “If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID”

Trump claims you need ID to buy groceries. You do not.
August 1, 2018
Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump used an odd example Tuesday night to call for stronger voter ID laws, saying that identification is required for buying groceries.
There is no such requirement.
“We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections, which is why the time has come for voter ID, like everything else. Voter ID,” Trump told the crowd of supporters gathered at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
“You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID,” Trump continued. “You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID and you need your picture.”
He added that “the only time you don’t need it in many cases is when you want to vote for a president, when you want to vote for a senator, when you want to vote for a governor or a congressman. It’s crazy.”
Photo ID is required when purchasing alcohol or cigarettes, and occasionally when verifying purchases made with a credit card. In a small number of states, identification photos are included on food stamp cards for low income families, and several chains, such as Costco, may require identification when applying for membership.
Asked about the remark Wednesday afternoon, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump was referring to liquor purchases.
“If you go to a grocery store and you buy beer or wine, you’re certainly going to show your ID,” Sanders said. “He’s not saying every time he went in. He said, ‘When you go to the grocery store.’ I’m pretty sure that everybody in here who’s been to a grocery store that’s purchased beer or wine has probably had to show their ID. If they didn’t, then that’s probably a problem with the grocery store.”
Trump has repeatedly railed against a “rigged” system that he claims, without evidence, allows people to vote illegally. A widely criticized commission Trump established to look into the matter dissolved in January due to what the White House described as “endless legal battles at taxpayer expense.”
