Zero jail time for 17-year-old drag racer who killed two innocent bystanders
Camille Dennis-Bond sentenced to 15 years for high-speed crash that killed two young adults
March 24, 2023
BURNSVILLE, Minn. — A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to 15 years for her involvement in a high-speed car crash in April 2021 that killed two young adults.
Camille Dennis-Bond of Burnsville was convicted in December of two counts of third-degree murder, two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, one count of criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm, and one count of careless driving.
She was sentenced to 12.5 years and 15 years for the murder charges respectively, and sentenced to just over 3 years for the criminal vehicular operation charge. She’ll serve the sentences concurrently, according to the Dakota County Attorney.
Charging documents said that Dennis-Bond was drag racing on County Road 42 in Burnsville against a vehicle driven by her younger brother. The car driven by her younger brother hit a Honda which had entered the intersection and then “split in half.”
The occupants of the Honda, Tayler Garza of Woodbury and Dalton Ford of Burnsville, died in the crash. They were both 22 years old.
Dennis-Bond’s brother was 17 years old at the time of the crash, and the motion to certify him as an adult was denied by a judge. He was placed on juvenile probation until he turns 21.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two men were sentenced Thursday in connection with a street racing crash that killed a third racer.
Javontae Murphy and Brian Dickerson last month pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter and a felony count of engaging in a speed contest resulting in injuries in exchange for 200 hours of community service and two years’ felony probation.
Early March 17, 2021, three vehicles sped east along Panama Lane at more than 100 mph. One of the drivers, Antwon Washington, 29, crashed his Maserati Quattroporte. It rolled and hit trees, and Washington was thrown.
He died at the scene.
Murphy stopped his Dodge Challenger at the crash scene near Stine Road for five minutes but left when the first patrol vehicle arrived, according to court filings. Dickerson drove a Cadillac XT5 SUV and stayed at the scene.
Police later determined Washington reached a top speed of 123 mph, Dickerson 107 mph and Murphy 104 mph, according to the filings. Surveillance video and phone records eventually led investigators to Murphy.
California gave early release from prison to a reckless driver named Derrick John Thompson who had caused a crash which put an innocent person in a coma. Anyone who’s not a bleeding heart can guess what he did after he got out.
California gave early release from prison to a reckless driver named Derrick John Thompson who had caused a crash which put an innocent person in a coma. Anyone who’s not a bleeding heart can guess what he did after he got out.
This time, his reckless driving killed five innocent people in Minnesota. All five of those people would still be alive if California had kept him locked up for his full sentence. This is yet one more example of how California is pro-violent crime.

Who is Derrick John Thompson? Man kills 5 women preparing for friend’s wedding after crashing SUV into their car

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Four young women and one juvenile lost their lives after a speeding SUV crashed into their car. The victims have reportedly been identified as Sahra Gesaade, 20, Salma Abdikadir, 20, Sagal Hersi, 19, Siham Adam, 19, and Sabiriin Ali, 17, who died Friday night, June 16, after leaving a Minneapolis mall.
The five left Karmel Mall around 10 pm after applying heena for their friend’s wedding when an SUV jumped a red light before fatally hitting their car, the Daily Mail reported. It has been said that at the time of the accident, the SUV was being chased by a state trooper as it was driving at approx 100 mph despite the speed limit set at 55 mph in south Minneapolis.
The women’s deaths have left their community devastated. Khalid Omar, director of Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, where the five used to go as attendees, told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, “These are pearls of our community. They leave a big void. All five of them had bright futures,” before adding, “They weren’t doing anything wrong. They were just getting ready for their friend’s wedding.”
Who is Derrick John Thompson?
Though police have not yet released the identity of the SUV driver responsible for the deadly crash, Minneapolis Star-Tribune citing two sources has identified him as Derrick John Thompson. The publication also stated that his father is former DFL State Representative John Thompson. As per reports, he was not caught immediately after the accident but was arrested after being seen at a Taco Bell.
The 27-year-old accused also suffered some injuries and is currently admitted to a hospital. Omar said, “I hope they try everything they can to bring justice to this family and this community. I talked to the chief and said, ‘Something has to be done. We gotta make sure we’re enforcing the traffic laws.'”
However, this was reportedly not the first time when Derrick was involved in a car crash. He was responsible for a September 2018 accident, which left a pedestrian severely injured in Montecito, according to MN CRIME. He pled guilty in that incident and was awarded eight years behind bars in state prison in 2020.
But it is not confirmed yet if he was on bail during the current crash. At the time, a statement from the DA’s Office said, “The victim, a tourist, was staying at a nearby house with several friends when she was struck by the defendant’s vehicle. The defendant immediately fled the scene, while the victim fought for her life in a coma for several weeks.”
Fundraiser started for victims’ families
Meanwhile, a fundraiser has been started to support victims’ families. The message on the campaign read, “We find ourselves in deep sorrow today, for our community experienced a heartbreaking tragedy last night. We have lost five of our bright, young sisters in a severe car accident. May Allah grant mercy upon the departed and open the doors of Jannah for them.”
“We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. These young Muslim sisters were shining stars of hope for our future. Unfortunately, their lives were cut short last night by a driver evading the police. We earnestly implore Allah to bestow His mercy upon them, to show them His boundless generosity as they return to Him, and to grant them the highest place in Firdaws. May He lend strength and patience to their grieving families in these trying times. Ameen,” it added.
Car thief jumps out of car while going 45 mph. The laws of physics are very unforgiving. I’m guessing this guy didn’t get an A in high school physics. Skip to 4:05.

Driver Dies After Jumping From Stolen CHP Car During Chase North of LA
The driverless CHP car coasted into a ditch and knocked down a utility pole after the driver jumped out and onto a two-lane road near Lancaster.

The driver of a stolen CHP car died after jumping from the vehicle as it was speeding on a two-lane road during a pursuit north of Los Angeles.
The driver jumped out on West Avenue D near Lancaster and landed in the middle of the road. The car was traveling at an estimated 50 mph when the driver jumped.
Officer Alec Pereyda, a CHP spokesman, said CHP officers provided “life-saving measures” for the driver’s “major injuries.” He was rushed to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The car with no driver behind the wheel coasted into a ditch and knocked down a wooden utility pole. The rear tires were damaged earlier by a spike strip deployed by CHP officers on the Highway 138.
The chase began near Castaic on the 5 Freeway. Pereyda said CHP officers from the Newhall area received calls around 11:38 a.m. about a reckless driver on the northbound 5 Freeway at Hasley Canyon Road. They then got calls that the driver had crashed on the freeway. One other vehicle was involved in that wreck, Pereyda said, adding that he could not confirm if anyone in that vehicle was hurt.
A CHP officer arrived to investigate. During the investigation, the driver hopped into the patrol vehicle and took off. Pereyda said it is standard procedure for CHP officers to leave their vehicle running during an investigation, though it must be locked.
After the theft, the officer relayed what happened to dispatchers, which prompted a high-speed pursuit, Pereyda said.
The driver continued on the northbound 5 Freeway before entering eastbound Highway 138 in the Gorman area and heading east toward Lancaster. The chase ended between 90th and 70th streets.
The weapons in the vehicle were locked, and the driver was not able to access them, Pereyda said.
The name of the driver was being withheld until his family was notified of the death. The investigation was ongoing.

A Maryland police officer is being hailed as a hero after saving a child from being hit by a car and taking the brunt of the impact herself.
The dramatic scene was caught on surveillance video.
The footage shows Cpl. Annette L. Goodyear of North East, on crossing guard duty on Friday, holding up a hand to stop traffic. As a middle school student walked through the crosswalk, a car blew into the intersection. Goodyear pushed the child out of the way only to be hit by the car herself.
Although the footage shows her falling hard to the pavement, Cecil County Public Schools Superintendent Jeffrey Lawson said on Twitter that Goodyear was treated and released and is doing well.
“It was strange. As I’m lying there I’m thinking to myself this actually did happen. I didn’t even know what to think about at that point,” Goodyear told Fox 5. “It didn’t seem real as it was happening.”
The child was not injured.
CBS Baltimore reported that the driver was given multiple citations, including negligent driving, failure to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk and an expired registration.
The town’s website said Goodyear has been with the department since 2008, and was its first female officer.
Goodyear told Fox 5 that after leaving the hospital, she went to check on the girl, who was too shaken to go to school and went home instead.
“She came down the stairs saw me standing there and as she was walking toward the door she was getting teary-eyed, and you could see it and when she got teary-eyed, then her dad started getting teary-eyed, and we all started at that point,” Goodyear told the station. “I was just so thankful she was standing there and that she was OK.”
Democratic Underground posters think the police should allow reckless drivers to continue going 100 mph while weaving through traffic
According to this recent news story from Associated Press, a pickup truck in San Diego was
weaving through traffic at speeds of up to 100 mph
This kind of irresponsible and illegal behavior can end up killing innocent people in other vehicles.
For example, you know that awesome movie A Christmas Story from 1983, about a young boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas?
Well, Bob Clark, the director of that wonderful film, was killed by a reckless driver who was driving the wrong way in another vehicle. Clark’s son was also killed in the crash.
Anyway, in the recent San Diego incident, the police used a spike strip to stop the pickup truck so innocent people in other vehicles would not get killed.
Instead of stopping his vehicle, the driver of the pickup truck ran over the spike strip. This caused the truck to crash and roll over. Eleven people were in the pickup truck, with most of them being in the truck’s bed, which is illegal. Three of the people in the truck were killed, and the other eight were seriously injured.
Thanks to the police, no innocent people were hurt or killed.
I agree with what the police did.
On the other hand, people at Democratic Underground think the police should have allowed the truck’s reckless driver to continue going 100 mph while weaving through traffic.
Here are some of their comments, taken from this thread and this other thread:
“Can this situation at the Border possibly get any worse? When do the tanks roll?”
“we’ll be reminded in the future how extreme this has become and it won’t be fondly”
“Highway speeds, pickup, people in the back, rain…. spike strip. What could go wrong? These mother****ers didn’t even get held accountable during Obama’s administration. There’s no hope of justice or integrity now. Manslaughter with impunity.”
“Sounds like murder to me. What crime was committed that warranted deadly force?”
“This is obscene.”
“‘This is obscene.’ Says it all.”
“what the border cops did was reckless and led to unnecessary deaths. This truck was weaving in and out of traffic at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The shoulders on that stretch of freeway were trenched next to the lane for drainage or something so it wasn’t safe for rapid deceleration. They knew that. What they did was no different than if they had pulled up next to the truck and opened fire, like in a movie.”
“JESUS CHRIST! What the **** is wrong with them? Sick ****. That device should never be used anyway.”
“Welcome to Trump’s Amerikkka. Border Patrol and ICE should be wearing white sheets with hoods.”
