PolitiFact repeatedly changed its rating of Obama’s promise that people could keep their insurance, based on how many Presidential elections he still had left

PolitiFact is a left wing organization that rates the truthfulness of statements made by politicians. Regarding Obama’s promise that people could keep their insurance, PolitiFact has given out three different ratings.

In October 2008, when Obama still had two Presidential elections coming up, PolitiFact rated his statement as “true.”

In June 2012, when Obama only had one more Presidential election coming up, PolitiFact rated his statement as  “half true.”

In December 2013, when Obama could no longer run for President ever again, PolitiFact rated his statement as “lie of the year.”

In all three of these cases, PolitiFact was rating the exact same statement. So why did they keep changing their rating? The best explanation that I can think of is that as Obama had fewer and fewer Presidential elections coming up, they were willing to be more and more accurate in their ratings. So only when he was no longer able to run for President again, were they finally willing to admit the truth about his statement.

Here’s the 1991 movie “Drop Dead Fred” with Phoebe Cates and Carrie Fisher

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this movie.

On the surface, it’s a very funny comedy, with lots of great slapstick.

At a deeper level, it’s a psychological drama about a woman who is trying to stand up to her bullies and take control of her life.

Critics hated – absolutely hated – this movie. But it’s got a strong cult following.

Rated PG-13 for sexual references, small amounts of profanity, and mild violence.

Poll: Do you agree or disagree with McDonald’s claim that its own food is an “unhealthy choice”?

CNN reports:

It seems that McDonald’s has finally realized how tone-deaf its internal employee resource website was. It has shut it down.

The final straw? A tip on the site to employees to avoid McDonald’s fare.

A graphic on the site shows a meal with a cheeseburger, fries and drink under the caption “Unhealthy choice.” Next to it is a picture of a sub, a salad and water under the caption “Healthier choice.”

Justine Sacco was fired because she told the politically incorrect, accurate truth about AIDS

A company called InterActiveCorp just fired empoyee Justine Sacco because she tweeted the following:

“Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!”

Before Sacco made that tweet, The New York Times reported:

“The rate of AIDS among black women is 27 times the rate among white women.”

This is precisely why math is the most politically incorrect academic subject. No matter how much the radical left wants to see “racism” where none exists – no matter how much they claim to be “offended” when there is no rational reason to be offended – no matter how many temper tantrums they throw – you can’t argue against the math. The math will always win.

If the radical left insists on about getting mad at someone for the AIDS problem, they have chosen the wrong target. It’s not Sacco’s fault that anyone has AIDS. If the radical left really wants to get mad at someone over the AIDS problem, then why don’t they get mad at the people who are actually spreading AIDS?

Obamacare = Calvinball

“Calvinball” is a game that Bill Watterson invented for his comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes.” In Calvinball, the rules are constantly changing.

Obamacare is constantly changing too. Obama has made a huge number of Changes to Obamacare since he signed it in March 2010.

Armed guard stops school shooter, saves students’ lives at Colorado high school

The Christian Science Monitor reports:

As they investigate the latest school shooting in the United States – Friday at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo. – one thing is clear to law enforcement officials there: The presence of an armed deputy sheriff on regular duty at the school was the key factor in preventing more deaths and injuries.

As soon as he heard the first of five gunshots, that officer and the two school administrators he was talking to raced toward the commotion shouting their presence and ordering students and staff to follow the school’s lock-down protocol.

As a result, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said at a briefing Saturday afternoon, the heavily-armed shooter realized he was about to be confronted by an armed officer, and he took his own life.

“We believe that that action was absolutely critical to the fact that we didn’t have more deaths and injuries,” Sheriff Robinson said. The whole episode – from the time the shooter entered the school until he shot himself – lasted just one minute and 20 seconds.

This doesn’t mean that armed guards can stop every school shooting.

And it doesn’t mean that armed guards are the best solution to school shootings.

But it does prove that armed guards are capable of stopping school shootings.

In New York City, thousands of Obama voting, well educated, upper class professionals complain about losing their insurance because of Obamacare

The New York Times is reporting this news about five years too late, but I guess that’s better than never. Obamacare is forcing thousands of Obama voting, well educated, upper class professionals from New York City to lose their insurance.

Even before Obamacare was passed, its critics were saying this would happen. It’s a shame that the New York Times waited until after the 2012 election to report information that Obamacare critics knew five years ago.

These people are intelligent, well educated professionals. How could they not see that these cancellations were coming? How could so many people who are this smart, simultaneously be so dumb that these cancellations are coming as a surprise?

The New York Times reports:

With Affordable Care Act, Canceled Policies for New York Professionals

Many in New York’s professional and cultural elite have long supported President Obama’s health care plan. But now, to their surprise, thousands of writers, opera singers, music teachers, photographers, doctors, lawyers and others are learning that their health insurance plans are being canceled and they may have to pay more to get comparable coverage, if they can find it.

“I couldn’t sleep because of it,” said Barbara Meinwald, a solo practitioner lawyer in Manhattan.

Ms. Meinwald, 61, has been paying $10,000 a year for her insurance through the New York City Bar. A broker told her that a new temporary plan with fewer doctors would cost $5,000 more, after factoring in the cost of her medications.

Roy Lyons, managing director of Marsh U.S. Consumer, an insurance brokerage, said he had heard complaints from physicians, lawyers, pharmacists and optometrists.

Among those affected are members of the Authors Guild; the Advertising Photographers of America; the Suzuki Association of the Americas, a music teachers organization; the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators; the New York City Bar Association; and the New York County Medical Society.

It is not lost on many of the professionals that they are exactly the sort of people — liberal, concerned with social justice — who supported the Obama health plan in the first place. Ms. Meinwald, the lawyer, said she was a lifelong Democrat who still supported better health care for all, but had she known what was in store for her, she would have voted for Mitt Romney.

It is an uncomfortable position for many members of the creative classes to be in.

“We are the Obama people,” said Camille Sweeney, a New York writer and member of the Authors Guild. Her insurance is being canceled, and she is dismayed that neither her pediatrician nor her general practitioner appears to be on the exchange plans. What to do has become a hot topic on Facebook and at dinner parties frequented by her fellow writers and artists.

“I’m for it,” she said. “But what is the reality of it?”

Obama says we should raise the minimum wage, but barackobama.com advertises for “unpaid” interns

In February 2013, Obama said:

“Tonight, let’s declare that in the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one who works full-time should have to live in poverty, and raise the federal minimum wage to $9.00 an hour. This single step would raise the incomes of millions of working families. It could mean the difference between groceries or the food bank; rent or eviction; scraping by or finally getting ahead. For businesses across the country, it would mean customers with more money in their pockets. In fact, working folks shouldn’t have to wait year after year for the minimum wage to go up while CEO pay has never been higher. So here’s an idea that Governor Romney and I actually agreed on last year: let’s tie the minimum wage to the cost of living, so that it finally becomes a wage you can live on.”

However, barackobama.com advertises for “unpaid” interns. The bolding is mine:

I dare liberals to buy a McDonald’s franchise, and pay the workers $15 an hour

Liberals are always talking about how easy it would be for McDonald’s to pay its workers $15 an hour.

However, so far, no liberal has actually bought a McDonald’s franchise and paid those wages.

So, I dare liberals to prove that it’s as easy as they claim it is. I dare liberals to buy a McDonald’s franchise, and pay the workers $15 an hour.

Reuters says Obama’s nominee to head the IRS has “little tax experience”

Reuters reports:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A Senate panel hearing on President Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Internal Revenue Service was set to resume Wednesday after it was abruptly halted on Tuesday at a Republican senator’s request, committee aides said.

John Koskinen, a 74-year-old lawyer with little tax experience chosen by Obama to take over the beleaguered IRS, traveled up to Capitol Hill to face the Senate Finance Committee, but the session did not last long.

Well hey – it’s just the IRS. Why should the person who heads it have significant tax experience? What does the IRS have to do with taxes anyway? Why should its leader need to know anything about taxes?

Members of Congress and their staff are exempt from the income limits for Obamacare subsidies that apply to everyone else

Most people are eligible for Obamacare subsidies only if their income is no more than 400% of the poverty level. For a family of four, 400% of the poverty level is $94,200. A family of four with income higher than that amount it not eligible for an Obamacare subsidy.

Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, and several other Democratic Senators who voted for Obamacare, have exempted their own staff from Obamacare

Yahoo News reports:

Harry Reid exempts some of his Senate staff from Obamacare exchanges

One of the biggest public supporters of the Affordable Care Act has reportedly decided that some of his staff should be exempted from the new law.

CNN reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is the only top congressional leader to exempt some of his staff from having to buy insurance through the Affordable Care Act exchanges.

Yahoo News has reached out to the offices of all 100 U.S. senators to see if any other members have exempted committee staff from the federal exchange. So far, the offices of 42 senators have responded to our inquiry, with 37 saying that the senator and their entire staff will switch over to the exchanges in January.

The offices of Ron Wyden, Tim Johnson, Barbara Boxer, Patty Murray and Thomas Carper, all Democrats, said they were exempting some of their staff. Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, has not responded.

This is despicable.

The law is supposed to treat everyone the same.

To exempt anyone from Obamacare is unfair.

To exempt the supporters of Obamacare (and in this case, even the people who wrote Obamacare) from Obamacare, is extremely hypocritical.

Obama asks us to “forget” his broken promise to reduce annual premiums by $2,500

In February 2008, Obama said:

We are going to work with you to lower your premiums by $2,500. We will not wait 20 years from now to do it, or 10 years from now to do it. We will do it by the end of my first term as president.”

However, by the time his first term was over, family premiums had gotten bigger, not smaller. The increase was $3,065 per family.

Afterward, the Obama administration chose a video called “Forget About the Price Tag” as the winner of its contest for videos to promote Obamacare:
