Video/audio: Machete wielding intruder gets shot by homeowner. Obama thinks this act of self defense should be illegal.
The Idaho State Journal News recently put up this video at YouTube. A guy with a machete breaks down an apartment door (which looks like it’s made of cardboard), despite the fact that the guy in the apartment had already warned the intruder that he had a gun. After the intruder enters the apartment with a machete, the homeowner shoots him three times. The Idaho State Journal News then blanks the video, but you can hear the intruder screaming in agony for a long time, the homeowner telling him to stay down because he doesn’t want to have to kill him, and the homeowner saying that he called an ambulance.
When Obama was an Illinois state Senator, he voted against allowing people in their own homes to use guns to protect themselves and their families from machete wielding scumbags such as this. Many of the people who voted for Obama for President agree with his anti-self defense position. On January 10, 2013, President Obama signed a bill that provides armed guards to himself and his wife for the rest of the lives, which makes Obama a gun control hypocrite.
The guy who got shot was a white guy, so Obama won’t be defending him or launching a federal investigation, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton won’t be defending him, and there won’t be any protests, looting, smashing of windows, burning down of businesses, or blocking of traffic in response to this incident.
Here’s the video from the The Idaho State Journal News channel at YouTube, and an article from the The Idaho State Journal News:
Pocatello man who was shot while breaking into neighbors’ apartments to threaten them with machete is sentenced
January 15, 2015
POCATELLO — Twain Thomas was sentenced to a prison term of five years fixed and 10 years indeterminate for attempted murder and five years fixed for aggravated assault Thursday.
Thomas was also ordered to pay $1,200.
Before imposing the sentence, Sixth District Judge Robert Naftz said he believed there was hope for Thomas, who pleaded guilty to the charges in November as part of a plea agreement.
“I have to impose a sentence that protects society and includes punishment,” Naftz said.
Last February, Thomas broke into the apartments of two of his neighbors on 200 block of South Garfield in Pocatello wielding a large machete. He was shot three times in the chest by James Cvengros after Thomas battered his way through the door.
Cvengros video recorded the event and the court got a chance to view the footage Thursday.
After Thomas busted out windows in his own upstairs apartment, he then broke into another second floor apartment. The audio on the video clip captures that resident screaming at Thomas to get out. The woman managed to chase Thomas out of the apartment and that’s when he went downstairs to the Cvengros apartment.
As he beat on the door, Cvengros told Thomas to leave. As Thomas broke through the door, Cvengros warned him that he was armed, but Thomas kept coming. That’s when Cvengros fired three shots in rapid succession.
The video view ends at that point, but the audio continues, and Thomas can be heard moaning as Cvengros tells him to stay down.
Cvengros said it was the second time that Thomas had broken into his apartment. The suspect kicked the door in months earlier because the music was too loud. That incident led Cvengros to buy the weapon he used to stop Thomas.
Thomas apologized to his victims Thursday.
“I know they were terrified,” Thomas said.
Dave Martinez represented Thomas in the case and he noted that the suspect survived a violent childhood and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. Thomas also sustained traumatic brain injury from a vehicle accident as a teenager.
Martinez added that Thomas, a military veteran, had no previous history of violence.
Bannock County Deputy Zach Parris said the crime was of particular concern as it affected two households, and he said that Thomas would also be able to seek help in prison.
Martinez had asked that the court retain jurisdiction and sentence Thomas to psychiatric facility for treatment.
Following the hearing, Cvengros said he would have liked to see Thomas sentenced to a longer prison term for threatening his life.
Cvengros’s girlfriend, Kaila Gerhart, was at the residence when the shooting occurred. And she said that she still has nightmares about the incident.
“The trial kind of brought it all back up again,” Gerhart said.
Here’s an example of political correctness gone way too far.
In the recent Islamic terrorist attack in France where 12 people were shot and killed by Islamic terrorists with with AK-47s, the police who were sent to stop them were unable to do so, because they were unarmed.
France’s extensive gun control laws did not stop the bad guys from getting guns. But the country’s extreme anti-gun mentality did prevent the police – the police of all people – from having guns.
Attention Dr. Blake Armstrong of South Texas College: here’s why your comparison of the Tea Party to the Nazis is inaccurate
The Blaze recently reported:
Prof. Tells Students Not to ‘Tell Anybody’ About His Vexed Tea Party ‘Analogy’ — He Didn’t Know It Was Already Caught on Video
Dec. 8, 2014
A psychology professor at South Texas College in Weslaco, Texas, was seemingly caught on video last month comparing the tea party to the Nazis of the 1930s in Germany.
He then told his students not to “tell anybody” about his remarks — but one of his students had already started filming after he allegedly called Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) a “bastard” for using the name “Cruz” to win his election.
“In 1931, which was really interesting, the Nazis — people were kind of tired of them. They’ve been around since 1920, 11 years now. They’ve won seats — they’re like the tea party! That’s such a good example,” the professor said. “Don’t tell anybody I said that though.”
He continued: “But in the sense of how they politically came to power, there’s a good analogy there. That eventually people realized, ‘Oh, these Nazis are a bunch of nuts,’ ‘These tea party people are a bunch of nuts.’ I mean, the analogy really is a good analogy.”
The student responsible for recording the comments, who asked to remain anonymous, identified the professor as Dr. Blake Armstrong. The video was recorded during a Nov. 17 class and uploaded on YouTube the same day.
The student told TheBlaze he recorded his professor because he feels strongly that “it’s wrong for him to use his position as a soap box for his beliefs, especially with young, impressionable students.”
“This semester, [Dr. Armstrong] insulted Republicans about three times before this video was recorded,” he added. On this day, he called Sen. Ted Cruz a bastard for using the last name Cruz to win his election. I didn’t know exactly what he meant, but I decided to start recording.”
While the student said Armstrong’s Nazi-tea party reference is the most “severe” rhetoric he’s heard in the class so far, he argued “it’s very easy to see that he has a vendetta against Republicans and religion with an emphasis on Christianity.”
Here’s the video:
Dr. Armstrong, if you are reading this, I would like to explain why your comparison of the Tea Party to the Nazi is inaccurate.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Germany was considered to be one of the most civilized and most advanced countries in the world. At the time, no one thought that a genocide could have been possible in Germany.
But then in 1938, Adolf Hitler confiscated all the guns from the Jews.
Hitler explained his action with the following:
“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”
By comparison, the Tea Party believes that everyone – including Jews – has the right to own guns.
The Nazis supported bigger government in every area of life. They supported wage and price controls. They supported having the government tell businesses what to produce and how much of it to produce. They supported strong federal involvement in health care and education.
By comparison, the Tea Party is against all of these things.
In 2004, when Barack Obama was an Illinois state Senator, he voted against allowing people in their own homes to use guns to protect themselves and their families from rapists and murderers. Hitler agreed with Obama on this issue, at least as far as Jews are concerned. Dr. Armstrong, did you vote for Obama when he ran for President?
Here are some other things that Obama has done, which Hitler would have been proud of, and which the Tea Party is against:
* Obama had four U.S. citizens killed without judicial process.
* In May 2011, Obama signed a renewal of the Patriot Act.
* In December 2011, Obama signed a bill that gave the U.S. government the power to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens without any charges being filed or any trial taking place.
* President Obama has defended warrantless wiretapping.
* In Germany in 1938, Adolf Hitler outlawed homeschooling. He said “Give me a child when he’s seven and he’s mine forever.” Hitler’s ban on homeschooling is still in effect today. In 2006, Katharina Plett was arrested for homeschooling her own children. Her husband and their children fled the country. In 2008, Juergen and Rosemary Dudek were sentenced to 90 days in jail for homeschooling their own children. Uwe and Hannelore Romeike and their homeschooled children fled Germany after the police showed up at their house to enforce Germany’s ban on homeschooling. They came to the United States in 2010 and were granted political asylum, which gave them legal permission to live in the U.S. as political refugees However, in March 2013, the Obama administration argued in federal court in favor of deporting them and sending them back to Germany. This means that Obama does not consider them to be political refugees, and that he does not consider Germany’s policy of jailing homeschooling parents to be a form of persecution.
Dr. Armstrong, the Nazis supported bigger government. The Tea Party supports smaller government. The two philosophies have absolutely nothing in common.
For the record, in the 2008 United States election, I wrote in Ron Paul for President. In the 2012 election, I voted for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson.
Dr. Armstrong, did you vote for Obama? If so, besides having done the horrible things that I mentioned above, I also would like to draw your attention to these hundreds of other horrible things that Obama has done.
Anyway, if there is any one thing that I hope you get out of this, it is the following: the Nazis supported BIGGER government – the Tea Party supports SMALLER government.
Every decent human being would side with these armed black men.
On the other hand, the looters, arsonists, and anti-gun leftists would prefer to let this business be burned down.
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
Black residents protect white-owned store in Ferguson
November 26, 2014
One, a 6-foot-8-inches man named Derrick Jordan — “Stretch,” as friends call him — whisked an AR-15 assault rifle out from a pickup truck parked near the entrance.
Jordan, 37, was one of four black Ferguson residents who spent Tuesday night planted in front of the store, pistols tucked into their waistbands, waiting to ward off looters or catch shoplifters.
Jordan and the others guarding the gas station are all black. The station’s owner is white.
“We would have been burned to the ground many times over if it weren’t for them,” said gas station owner Doug Merello, whose father first bought it in 1984.
The Christian Science Monitor reports:
As they investigate the latest school shooting in the United States – Friday at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo. – one thing is clear to law enforcement officials there: The presence of an armed deputy sheriff on regular duty at the school was the key factor in preventing more deaths and injuries.
As soon as he heard the first of five gunshots, that officer and the two school administrators he was talking to raced toward the commotion shouting their presence and ordering students and staff to follow the school’s lock-down protocol.
As a result, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said at a briefing Saturday afternoon, the heavily-armed shooter realized he was about to be confronted by an armed officer, and he took his own life.
“We believe that that action was absolutely critical to the fact that we didn’t have more deaths and injuries,” Sheriff Robinson said. The whole episode – from the time the shooter entered the school until he shot himself – lasted just one minute and 20 seconds.
This doesn’t mean that armed guards can stop every school shooting.
And it doesn’t mean that armed guards are the best solution to school shootings.
But it does prove that armed guards are capable of stopping school shootings.
On July 15, 2013, thousands of protestors in Times Square chanted:
“Trayvon did not have to die. We don’t know the reason why.”
To those thousands of protestors, as well as to the millions of other people who share their point of view, I would like to present the following simple, handy dandy, step by step guide on how to avoid getting shot and killed by George Zimmerman. I follow these steps every day, and the results speak for themselves. If you follow these simple and easy steps, then you, too, can avoid getting shot and killed by George Zimmerman.
Step #1: Don’t pin George Zimmerman down on the ground.
Step #2: Don’t break George Zimmerman’s nose.
Step #3: Don’t give George Zimmerman two black eyes.
Step #4: Don’t repeatedly slam George Zimmerman’s head on the pavement.
That’s it. Just four simply, easy steps.
It works for me.
And if you follow these steps, it will work for you too.
Because Geroge Zimmerman is the one on trial, the law gives him the presumption of innocence. It is up to the prosecutor to convince the jury beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman is guilty.
Because Trayvon Martin is not on trial, he does not have the benefit of the presumtion of innocence.
In May 2012, ABC news reported:
A medical report compiled by the family physician of Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an alleged altercation.
The record shows that Zimmerman also suffered bruising in the upper lip and cheek and lower back pain. The two lacerations on the back of his head, one of them nearly an inch long, the other about a quarter-inch long, were first revealed in photos obtained exclusively by ABC News last month.
That same month, WFTV reported:
WFTV has confirmed that autopsy results show 17-year-old Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles when he died.
WFTV has learned that the medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: The fatal gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.
This is sufficient to create reasonable doubt.
That’s not enough to prove that Martin was the aggressor. But it is enough to create reasonable doubt that Zimmerman was the aggressor. And it’s Zimmerman who is on trial here, not Martin.
Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people have taken sides based on things other than the actual evidence. On both sides, there seem to be people who have based their decision on race, instead of on the actual evidence. And that’s a real shame. The law is supposed to be about evidence, not race.
Barack Obama is such a hypocrite. On January 10, 2013, he signed a bill that provides armed guards to himself and his wife for the rest of the lives. However, in 2004, when Obama was an Illinois state Senator, he voted against allowing people in their own homes to use guns to protect themselves and their families from rapists and murderers.
In February 2013, the following happened in Illinois, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
HIGHLAND – Debi Keeney says she last fired her gun 15 years ago, when she took shooting lessons.
The gun was a gift from a friend but it mostly stayed in a side-table drawer, she said, gathering dust. Then, early Sunday morning, Keeney pulled the trigger again — this time, she said, to save her sister’s life.
“I’m very grateful that it fired this morning,” she said Sunday afternoon.
Keeney, 55, said a man forced his way into her apartment in Highland, threw her to the floor and then put her sister, Donna Carlyle, 47, in a choke hold. He demanded money as Carlyle gasped for air.
“All I could see was Donna’s face going blue, like her life was being choked out of her,” said Keeney.
The alleged intruder, 33, was being treated at a hospital Sunday for two gunshot wounds and was listed in critical condition, police said. They have not released his name.
Illinois’ self-defense law allows a homeowner to use deadly force if an intruder breaks in violently, or if the homeowner believes deadly force is the only way to prevent the intruder from committing a felony.
Fortunately for Donna Carlyle, enough other Illinois state Senators disagreed with Obama during that 2004 vote.
If Obama had his way, Donna Carlyle would have been choked to death by that burglar.
Gun control hypocrite Barack Obama chooses guns for himself and his family, but opposes them for everyone else
On January 10, 2013, President Obama signed a bill that provides armed guards to himself and his wife for the rest of the lives. He did this because he understands that armed guards make people safer. I think that what he did was a good thing. I agree with what he did on this.
Obama chooses to send his own children to the private Sidwell Friends school, which employs 11 armed guards. These aren’t Secret Service agents. Instead, these armed guards have been employed by the school since long before Obama was elected President. Obama chose this particular school for his children because he knows that these armed guards will make his children safer. And again, I think that what he did was a good thing, and I agree with him. (Update: the Washington Post has reported that Sidwell Friends does NOT employ any armed guards.)
What I don’t like about Obama when it comes to the gun issue is his hypocrisy.
In 2004, when Obama was an Illinois state Senator, he voted against allowing people in their own homes to use guns to protect themselves and their families from rapists and murderers.
So, there you have it. Barack Obama favors guns to protect himself and his family, but opposes them for everyone else.
