Washington D.C. refused to lock up this 13-year-old serial armed carjacker. Fortunately, a heroic law abiding gun owner shot and killed him.

NBC News just published this article, which is about a a heroic law abiding gun owner who shot and killed a 13-year-old serial armed carjacker in Washington D.C.:

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/juvenile-in-critical-condition-after-shooting-in-penn-quarter/3456217

That article includes a link to this previous article, which details the many armed carjackings that had previously been committed by this 13-year-old when he was 12. Even though the police had him in custody, the district attorney decided to let him go.

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/12-year-old-accused-in-string-of-dc-armed-carjackings/3342708/

Prior to his arrest and release, this juvenile delinquent had been committing several armed carjackings per week. Think of all the armed carjackings that this 13 year-old scumbag will never commit because a heroic law abiding gun owner killed him.

In Clark County, an evil judge named Tierra Jones gave zero prison time to a convicted child molester

Alleged victim punches 80-year-old convicted sex offender in Las Vegas courtroom

By Vanessa Murphy

October 27, 2023

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A now-adult alleged victim knocked out an 80-year-old convicted sex offender in a Nevada courtroom, according to witnesses.

Richard Gross, 80, was in a Clark County district courtroom for his sentencing on Oct. 2. He was initially charged with 26 felony counts related to the alleged sexual abuse of a child. He pleaded guilty through an Alford plea to one felony count of attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14.

An Alford plea is when a defendant does not admit to committing the crime, but enters a guilty plea because they believe there is a likelihood of a conviction.

Judge Tierra Jones sentenced Gross to a suspended sentence of 60-80 months. In a suspended sentence, a defendant is placed on probation; if probation is violated, the convicted could serve prison time.

Nexstar’s KLAS has chosen not to identify the alleged sexual abuse victim because of the nature of the circumstances.

The now-29-year-old man gave a victim impact statement in court. Once the sentencing concluded and Gross began to leave left the courtroom with his wife and attorney, the accuser stood up and punched Gross in the face, causing him to fall to the floor, an arrest report obtained by KLAS stated.

The alleged victim was arrested for misdemeanor battery.

Gross was taken to a hospital, saying he briefly lost consciousness after he was hit, the arrest report said. His wife said that his glasses were broken as a result of the punch, according to the report.

KLAS requested a courtroom video from the sentencing where Gross was knocked out. The Clark County District Court provided a heavily redacted copy.

Judge Tierra Jones also ordered Gross to register on the sex offender registry along with lifetime supervision. However, during a search for “Richard Gross,” no results appeared on the registry.

As part of his suspended sentence, Gross must abide by certain terms: He is prohibited from using alcohol and marijuana, and he must live at least 1,000 feet from public or private schools, school bus stops, daycare facilities, video arcades, parks, playgrounds, movie theaters, or athletic fields or facilities used for youth sports, according to court records. The Division of Parole and Probation must have unlimited access to his electronic devices.

The 29-year-old alleged victim was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7 for the battery charge. His attorney sent the following statement on his behalf to KLAS:

“While it was on some level cathartic, my actions in court were not appropriate. I was overwhelmed by emotion at the hearing, which got the better of me. I was and am deeply troubled by the fact that Richard Gross received no prison time, but I do understand these things happen sometimes in criminal proceedings. I am satisfied that I found the courage to come forward and confront my accuser. However, I would ask the court and the district attorney to take to heart the fact that additional trauma is inflicted on victims of sexual abuse when they do come forward, their accuser admits to the conduct, or the equivalent, and does not face any prison time. I was in a mental prison for many years because of Richard Gross’s actions, and for him to receive no prison time is disheartening to me.

“Having said that, I am strengthened by the knowledge that I did what I had to do. I do not regret coming forward and confronting my assailant. I only wish I had done it sooner. While I still live with the trauma of his crimes committed on me, every day, I believe my life is better overall for having come forward. I encourage all other victims of sexual abuse to do the same. If there are others out there that see this story, especially young adults and kids, if they are being abused or have been abused, I implore them to come forward and tell their loved ones, or teachers or the authorities that they are being hurt or abused.”

The alleged victim filed a lawsuit against Gross and his wife in 2021. The complaint made claims that Gross had abused him between the years of 2001 through 2003 and again in 2008, when the accuser was ages 8, 9, 10 and 15. The accuser also claimed that the incidents occurred in the home of Gross, his pickup truck and while on a camping trip.

The accuser’s parents had divorced and his mother trusted Gross and his wife, who were family friends, to babysit him, according to the complaint.

Las Vegas woman left U2 concert to take $50K from ‘sugar daddy’s’ hotel safe, police say

Gross’ wife was also named as a defendant because she “knew of her husband’s predilections towards minor children/boys, knew of prior incidents wherein he abused children, and knew he represented a risk/danger to Plaintiff,” the complaint alleged.

The alleged victim is suing for assault and battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence and negligent supervision.

A jury trial has been set for Feb. 5, 2024.

In Maine, 18 or more people were murdered because the government refused to lock up a person who had threatened to commit a mass shooting. Don’t let them use this an excuse to ban law abiding people from owning guns.

Here’s what we know about the suspect in the Maine mass shooting

By John Miller, Curt Devine, Casey Tolan, Isabelle Chapman and Allison Gordon

October 26, 2023

CNN – The suspect in the Maine mass shooting started making statements about hearing voices and wanting to hurt fellow soldiers while serving at a military base this summer, and spent a few weeks in a hospital, law enforcement officials told CNN.

But a relative of the suspect and two former colleagues in the Army Reserve told CNN they weren’t aware of him having any longstanding history of mental health issues – although one former colleague remembered him as a skilled marksman and outdoorsman who was among the best shooters in his unit.

Robert R. Card II, who police are searching for in connection with the fatal shooting of at least 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, made his troubling statements while he was at the Camp Smith training facility in New York, the law enforcement officials said. His command referred him to a military hospital, and he spent a few weeks under evaluation, they said.

In July, Army Reserve officials reported Card for “behaving erratically,” and he was transported to the nearby Keller Army Community Hospital at the United States Military Academy for “medical evaluation,” a National Guard spokesman told CNN.

“Out of concern for his safety, the unit requested that law enforcement be contacted,” said the spokesperson, Col. Richard Goldenberg. New York State Police responded and transported Card to the hospital, he said.

Card then spent a few weeks under evaluation at the hospital, the law enforcement officials said.

The 40-year-old Card also threatened to shoot up a National Guard base in Maine, law enforcement officials previously told CNN.

Card’s sister-in-law, Katie O’Neill, said in a brief conversation with CNN Thursday that Card does not have a long history of mental health struggles.

“This is something that was an acute episode. This is not who he is,” O’Neill said. “He is not someone who has had mental health issues for his lifetime or anything like that.”

Except for an arrest in 2007 for an alleged driving under the influence charge, the suspect is not known to ATF or in FBI holdings, according to law enforcement sources. He legally possesses multiple weapons and owns a home on hundreds of acres of land in Maine, the sources said.

Card is a petroleum supply specialist in the Army Reserve and first enlisted in 2002, according to records provided by the Army on Thursday. He has no combat deployments, according to the records.

Clifford Steeves of Massachusetts told CNN he knew Card when they served in the Army Reserve together, starting in the early 2000s until about a decade ago. He said he never witnessed any concerning behavior from Card.

“He was a very nice guy – very quiet. He never overused his authority or was mean or rude to other soldiers,” Steeves said. “It’s really upsetting.”

Steeves said the two served together around the country at different points, including in Wisconsin, Georgia and New York. He said he felt as though he “grew up” with Card because they entered the Army as young men and trained together.

Steeves said that while “aggressive leadership was very prominent” in the Army, Card stuck out for being a “rational, understanding person” who “led through respect rather than fear.”

Steeves said Card never saw combat but had extensive training, including firearms training and land navigation, “so he would be very comfortable in the woods.” He described Card as an “outdoors type of guy” and a skilled marksman who was one of the best shooters in his unit.

Another former Army Reserve member who served with Card also described him as a “nice guy” who “never had an issue with anybody.” The servicemember, who asked to speak anonymously due to the sensitivity of the situation, did not recall Card showing any kind of violent behavior.

Card studied engineering technology at the University of Maine between 2001 and 2004 but did not graduate, Eric Gordon, a university spokesperson, told CNN.

Public records show addresses for Card in Bowdoin, Maine, a town near Lewiston. Card appears to have been a member of a local horseshoe-throwing club in the nearby town of Lisbon, Maine, according to a local news story and a Facebook photo that showed him wearing a t-shirt with the club’s logo.

An account on the social media platform X with Card’s name and a photo that appears to be him, which has been taken offline, had a history of liking right-wing and Republican political content.

When WNBA player Brittney Griner was released from Russian detention after a prisoner exchange for a convicted arms dealer, the account posted what appeared to be its only tweet. Responding to a CNBC story about the topic, the account wrote: “Mass murderer for a wnba player great job keep up the good work,” in an apparent jab at President Joe Biden.

The account liked a tweet earlier this year from right-wing author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza arguing against an assault weapons ban, as well as other tweets from political figures like Donald Trump Jr. and Tucker Carlson.

Woman Who Named Her Kids ‘Aryan’ and ‘Nation’ Accused of Running Over Native American Woman

By KC Baker

October 25, 2023

For seven months, the family of indigenous woman Mika Westwolf has waited for answers about the deadly hit-and-run in Montana that stole the 22-year-old’s life

A Montana mother of two is facing charges after allegedly hitting a Native American woman and fleeing the scene in a deadly hit-and-run, say authorities.

Sunny Kathrinne White, 28, was arrested Saturday and charged with five felonies including vehicular homicide while under the influence in connection with the death of Mika Josephine Westwolf, 22, in March 2023, according to charging documents obtained by PEOPLE.

White is also charged with accidents involving another person or deceased person, two counts of criminal child endangerment, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

White’s two children, Aryan, 4, and Nation, 2, were in the car with her at the time of the accident, the Missoulian reports.

The fatal accident took place on March 31. Westwolf was walking home on Highway 93 near White Coyote Road outside of Arlee at 4:15 a.m. when she was struck, according to the affidavit obtained by PEOPLE. Tribal Police Officer T.J. Haynes was driving on Highway 93 north of Arlee when he saw vehicle debris in the road and a body lying next to the fog line.

The victim was later identified as Westwolf, who was a member of the Blackfeet tribe.

“Evidence from the scene indicates that Westwolf was walking in the northbound lane of travel near the fog line when she was struck by the suspect vehicle,” the affidavit states.

Westwolf was hit head-on. She died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries.

At 5:23 a.m., a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office saw a gold 2008 Cadillac Escalade with damage on the front and a missing passenger side mirror parked outside of Polson, according to the affidavit.

The damage to the Escalade allegedly matched the description of the vehicle debris found at the scene, the affidavit alleges.

The deputy saw a woman, later identified as White, taking items out of the Escalade and putting them into another vehicle. White allegedly told the deputy that her SUV was overheating and she had called a friend to help her, the affidavit states.

White allegedly said she hit a deer but didn’t remember where it happened, according to the affidavit.

White “claimed she was passing a bottle back to her baby and didn’t see the deer,” per the affidavit.

She told the deputy that she was driving from Kalispell to Butte for the weekend with her children. She denied using alcohol and said she “hadn’t used methamphetamine or fentanyl in a week,” the affidavit states.

The deputy believed the defendant may have been under the influence of opiates, according to the affidavit, and White was allegedly “shaky on her feet” and “nodded off and fell in and out of sleep” in the back of the deputy’s vehicle when he took her to the hospital for a blood draw.

She refused to provide a blood sample, so the deputy had to obtain a search warrant for the blood, which was collected more than four hours after the crash, the affidavit states.

Police obtained a search warrant for White’s vehicle and allegedly found “a small makeup tube with methamphetamine inside,” five syringes and two unopened packages of Narcan inside, the affidavit states. White’s blood sample also allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.

As police continue to investigate, Westwolf’s family and friends continue to mourn her loss. Her family started the “Mika Matters” movement to raise awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP).

According to KRTV, the family released a statement on Friday, saying, “As we mark seven months since Mika’s tragic passing, it is essential to acknowledge that this arrest is just the beginning of the journey towards justice.

“The fight to seek accountability, raise awareness, and protect the lives of Indigenous people and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives remains an ongoing battle.

“Our hearts go out to the families who are still searching for their loved ones, and we remain deeply saddened by the fact that Native Americans continue to go missing at an alarming rate. The urgency to address this issue has never been greater.”

White was arrested on an extra-jurisdictional warrant and was held over the weekend on a $200,000 bond, according to jail records.

She bonded out of jail on Sunday.

Lake County Attorney James Lapotka told PEOPLE, “I would like to thank the Montana Highway Patrol, the Flathead Tribal Police, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work investigating this complex case.”

It is unclear whether White has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf.

Why don’t the students and professors who praise Cuba at elite U.S. universities ever immigrate there? Why is all the immigration related to communist countries out of the communist country, and never into it?

Nearly 425,000 Cubans have migrated to the U.S. in the past two years, U.S. figures show

By Nora Gámez Torres and Syra Ortiz Blanes

October 24, 2023

Amid one of the worst economic and political crises since the late Fidel Castro turned Cuba into a communist country over sixty years ago, the island has lost almost 4 percent of its population in the past two years.

These Cubans are now in the United States.

Nearly 425,000 Cubans have come in the past two fiscal years, according to the latest U.S. border numbers, a migration crisis of historic proportions that underscores the challenges the Biden administration faces in trying to contain the displacement set in motion by authoritarian governments and political upheavals in the Western Hemisphere.

Israel has not occupied Gaza since 2005. More than 3,000 greenhouses were donated to Gaza so they could grow food in the desert, but they destroyed them.

Looters strip Gaza greenhouses

Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

September 13, 2005

Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

American Jewish donors had bought more than 3,000 greenhouses from Israeli settlers in Gaza for $14 million last month and transferred them to the Palestinian Authority. Former World Bank President James Wolfensohn, who brokered the deal, put up $500,000 of his own cash.

Palestinian police stood by helplessly Tuesday as looters carted off materials from greenhouses in several settlements, and commanders complained they did not have enough manpower to protect the prized assets. In some instances, there was no security and in others, police even joined the looters, witnesses said.

“We need at least another 70 soldiers. This is just a joke,” said Taysir Haddad, one of 22 security guards assigned to Neve Dekalim, formerly the largest Jewish settlement in Gaza. “We’ve tried to stop as many people as we can, but they’re like locusts.”

The failure of the security forces to prevent scavenging and looting in the settlements after Israel’s troop pullout Monday raised new concerns about Gaza’s future.

‘We are not going to tolerate chaos’
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas told his people in a televised speech Tuesday that he would take immediate steps to impose order. “We have one law for everyone and no one is above the law. We are not going to tolerate chaos after today,” he said.

The Palestinian leader is under intense pressure from his people and the international community to stop the growing lawlessness in Gaza, where rival militant groups are jockeying for power. As Abbas spoke, hundreds of masked Hamas gunmen wielding rifles and grenade launchers paraded through the streets of a nearby refugee camp.

The greenhouses are a centerpiece of Palestinian plans for rebuilding Gaza after 38 years of Israeli occupation. The Palestinian Authority hopes the high-tech greenhouses left by the Israelis will provide jobs and export income for Gaza’s shattered economy.

During a tour of Neve Dekalim, Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia implored Palestinians to leave the structures intact. “These greenhouses are for the Palestinian people,” he said. “We don’t want anyone to touch or harm anything that can be useful for our people.”

Jihad al-Wazir, the deputy Palestinian finance minister, said roughly 30 percent of the greenhouses suffered various degrees of damage. He said that after a “very heated meeting” with Qureia and other Palestinian leaders, the security forces appeared to be getting the situation under control.

“We expect the security to protect the assets properly,” he said.

Al-Wazir said the greenhouses did not suffer structural damage, but that looters got away with irrigation pipes, plastic sheeting and most troublesome, water pumps. He said authorities were trying to recover the expensive pumps.

Israel eyes strengthening hold in West Bank
In other developments Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz toured two West Bank settlements, Karnei Shomron and Beit Arieh, and said Israel must develop the main blocs there after its Gaza pullout.

“We have to make every effort to direct resources to strengthen the settlement blocs,” Mofaz said, according to his ministry. “We must do everything possible to strengthen the residents’ feeling of security.”

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has said one reason for the Gaza pullout was to strengthen Israel’s grip on its main settlement blocs in the West Bank, where 246,000 settlers live. Palestinians demand a complete Israeli pullout from the West Bank after its withdrawal from Gaza.

Also Tuesday, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager in a clash near the West Bank town of Hebron, Palestinian hospital officials said. They said the teen was shot in the chest by troops in the village of Tafuh.

The army said troops in the village were attacked by a crowd of about 500 people hurling stones and concrete blocks, and a soldier was slightly injured. Troops fired rubber bullets at the attackers, one of whom was seen being taken away in a Palestinian ambulance, the military said.

In Los Angeles County, a person was stabbed because the judges and district attorney refused to lock up a violent serial criminal who had been arrested 14 times since 2019

Violent repeat offender considered armed and dangerous wanted in L.A. County

By Josh DuBose

October 23, 2023

Police are searching for a 41-year-old man in connection with a violent stabbing in Claremont who is a repeat offender and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers with the Claremont Police Department responded to 200 West First Street, a Metrolink Station, at around 4 p.m. Sunday on reports of the stabbing, according to a CPD news release.

The suspect, now identified as Phillip Borunda, had already fled the scene when police arrived.

Authorities located the victim in the grassy area near the Claremont Museum of Art and learned that he had been stabbed in the ribcage after an alleged argument with the Borunda. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department took the victim, who was suffering from possibly life-threatening injuries to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

“All l saw was cop cars, the ambulance,” Amal Najir, who works at the nearby Jax Bicycle Center said.

Claremont resident Melissa Larose, who owns the Method Lagree, a fitness studio, told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson that she has seen the 41-year-old suspect before.

“It’s a block from where my studio is and we have young girls who are opening the studio and closing it after and before hours, so it’s really scary, feels unsafe,” she said.

Larose’s friend, Tina Rodriguez, she’s not surprised by the incident.

“If this would have happened a few years ago, it would have been completely shocking,” she said. “But I think that we’ve just both seen the city go in a direction that we’re not happy with.”

According to police, Borunda is known to frequent Claremont and Pomona and that he has a lengthy criminal history. Since 2019, police say he’s been arrested some 14 times for crimes including burglary, arson, possession of stolen property and drug offenses. The 41-year-old is also out of custody while waiting to be arraigned for an arson case this past summer.

The Claremont Police Officer’s Association has criticized Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, saying in part:

“Unfortunately, District Attorney George Gascón’s policies have often resulted in [Borunda’s] release without facing charges or consequences, posing a significant threat to our community.”

For its part, the DA’s office disputes that narrative, saying that in this case their bail policy has no impact on Borunda’s release because he was cited and released by law enforcement before the L.A. County court system’s zero bail policy went into effect.

“The defendant was arrested by the Claremont Police Department (CPD) on July 13th for a misdemeanor arson offense,” the DA’s office said in a statement to KTLA. “CPD released him and gave him a citation to appear on 9/12 for arraignment. The defendant failed to appear, and the court issued a $15,000 warrant. The [L.A. DA’s] bail policy had no impact on his release.”

While police told KTLA that the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident and that the victim is still hospitalized in stable condition, some residents said they want to see change.

“We need to get back to a law-and-order society,” Claremont resident Dan Hartman said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Claremont Police Department at 909-399-5411.

Clocked in 12 hours a day, 7 days a week: How staffing bills for Chicago’s migrant shelters swelled with overtime

By Joe Mahr, Nell Salzman, Alice Yin and Dan Petrella

October 24, 2023

CHICAGO — When a security guard clocked out of a Streeterville migrant shelter one Friday in March, he’d just logged his 84th hour at work that week.

His bosses told the city it was at least his 56th day in a row working a 12-hour shift, according to invoices they filed with the city — invoices whose sizable overtime helped contribute to tens of millions in city payments to the firm staffing the city’s migrant shelters.

The security guard was employed by Favorite Healthcare Staffing, a national employment firm that has become the city’s biggest contractor to handle the growing migrant crisis. Under the deal, the city hired the firm to provide case workers, security guards, janitors and many other employees for the migrant shelters — at initial base rates ranging from $60 to $150 an hour.

Invoices reviewed by the Chicago Tribune show that hundreds of Favorite Staffing workers logged 84-hour workweeks — with the overtime, paid at a 50% premium, helping balloon bills that topped at least $56 million. At a Woodlawn shelter in early February, for example, two-thirds of the 50 staffers logged working at least 12 hours a day, seven days a week. At the Streeterville site one week in March, roughly 8 in 10 workers logged the same hours.

Why Israeli Officials Screened Footage of the Hamas Attack

https://web.archive.org/web/20231023154942/https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/10/why-israeli-officials-screened-footage-hamas-attack/675735/

Why Israeli Officials Screened Footage of the Hamas Attack

“I killed 10 Jews with my own hands.”

By Graeme Wood

October 23, 2023

This afternoon, at a military base north of Tel Aviv, the Israel Defense Forces held a grisly matinee screening of 43 minutes of raw footage from Hamas’s October 7 attack. Members of the press were invited, but cameras were not allowed. Hamas had the opposite policy on cameras during the attack, which it documented gleefully with its fighters’ body cams and mobile phones. Some of the clips had been circulating already on social media in truncated or expurgated form, with the footage decorously stopped just before beheadings and moments of death. After having seen them both in raw and trimmed forms, I can endorse the decision to trim those clips. I certainly hope I never see any of the extra footage again.

It was, as IDF Major General Mickey Edelstein told the press afterward, “a very sad movie.” Men, women, and children are shot, blown up, hunted, tortured, burned, and generally murdered in any horrible manner you could predict, and some that you might not. The terrorists surround a Thai man they have shot in the gut, then bicker about what to do next. (About 30,000 Thais live in Israel, many of them farmworkers.) “Give me a knife!” one Hamas terrorist shouts. Instead he finds a garden hoe, and he swings at the man’s throat, taking thwack after thwack.

The audience gasped. I heard someone heave a little at another scene, this one showing a father and his young sons, surprised in their pajamas. A terrorist throws a grenade into their hiding place, and the father is killed. The boys are covered in blood, and one appears to have lost an eye. They go to their kitchen and cry for their mother. One of the boys howls, “Why am I alive?” and “Daddy, Daddy.” One says, “I think we are going to die.” The terrorist who killed their father comes in, and while they weep, he raids their fridge. “Water, water,” he says. The spokesman was unable to say whether the children survived.

The videos show pure, predatory sadism; no effort to spare those who pose no threat; and an eagerness to kill nearly matched by eagerness to disfigure the bodies of the victims. In several clips, the Hamas killers fire shots into the heads of people who are already dead. They count corpses, taking their time, and then shoot them again. Some of the clips I had not previously seen simply show the victims in a state of terror as they wait to be murdered, or covered with bits of their friends and loved ones as they are loaded into trucks and brought to Gaza as hostages. There was no footage of rape, although there was footage of young women huddling in fear and then being executed in a leisurely manner.

Edelstein said that the IDF chose to show the footage out of necessity. It is not every day that snuff films of Jews are shown at an IDF screening hall. (The original site of the screening was a commercial theater, which would have been even worse.) “What we shared with you,” Edelstein said, searching for words, “you should know it.” And he said he struggled to understand how some journalists could present the IDF and Hamas as comparable. This footage would refute that false equivalence.

“We are not looking for kids to kill them,” he said. “We have to share it with you so no one will have an idea that someone is equal to another.”

To me the most disturbing section was not visual at all. Like the clip of the father and his boys hunted in their pajamas, it was upsetting in part because it showed a relationship between parent and child. The clip is just a phone call—placed by a terrorist to his family back in Gaza. He tells his father that he is calling from a Jewish woman’s phone. (The phone recorded the call.) He tells his father that his son is now a “hero” and that “I killed 10 Jews with my own hands.” And he tells his family, about a dozen times, that they should open up WhatsApp on his phone, because he has sent photographs to prove what he has done. “Put on Mom!” he says. “Your son is a hero!”

His parents, I noticed, are not nearly as enthusiastic as he is. I believe that the mom says “praise be to God” at one point, which could be gratitude for their son’s crimes but could also have been pure reflex, indicating her loss for words after having learned of her son’s having done the unspeakable. They do not question what he has done; they do not scold him. They tell him to come back to Gaza. They fear for his safety. He says, amid rounds of “Allahu akbar,” that he intends “victory or martyrdom”—which the parents must understand means that he will never come home. From their muted replies I wonder whether they also understand that even if he did come home, he would do so as a disgusting and degraded creature, and that it might be better for him to not come home at all.

On Israel, Progressive Jews Feel Abandoned by Their Left-Wing Allies

On Israel, Progressive Jews Feel Abandoned by Their Left-Wing Allies

Jewish leaders and voters said they were taken aback to discover that many of their ideological allies saw them as oppressors who deserved blame following the Israel attacks.

By Jennifer Medina and Lisa Lerer

October 20, 2023

Progressive Jews who have spent years supporting racial equity, gay and transgender rights, abortion rights and other causes on the American left — including opposing Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank — are suddenly feeling abandoned by those who they long thought of as allies. This wartime shift represents a fundamental break within a liberal coalition that has long powered the Democratic Party.

In Los Angeles, Rabbi Sharon Brous, a well-known progressive activist who regularly criticizes the Israeli government, described from the pulpit her horror and feelings of “existential loneliness,” her voice breaking. “The clear message from many in the world, especially from our world — those who claim to care the most about justice and human dignity — is that these Israeli victims somehow deserved this terrible fate.”

In Atlanta, a Jewish mother involved in local politics wrote an open letter lamenting that her child’s progressive private school had not addressed the attacks in Israel with the same kind of empathy it showed after local killings of Asian Americans. “Our people are butchered, and no one speaks to it?” she wrote. “I don’t know if I’m seething or just sad.”

And as the Hamas attacks in Israel were still underway, leaders of the New Israel Fund, which supports progressive Israeli and Palestinian groups, fielded calls from American supporters demanding that the organization label Israel an “apartheid state” — even as they waited to learn if colleagues in another organization, hiding in Israeli bomb shelters, had been killed.

Many of the most inflammatory comments came on social media, from progressive groups that responded to the immediate aftermath of the massacre of Israeli civilians by skipping even a moment of mourning and instead moving immediately to try to justify the attack.

This behavior from a group of anti-Semitic Harvard students resembles that of children ganging up to bully one of their classmates

Israeli Harvard Business School Student Accosted and Harassed Amid Gaza ‘Die-In’ on Campus

October 21, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX88ZGfdKl4

A first-year Israeli student at Harvard Business School was shoved and accosted amid a “die in” protest held on Wednesday to assail Israel’s retaliatory attacks on Hamas.

The incident, captured on video reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, shows the student saying “don’t grab me” and “don’t touch my neck” as protesters surround him, blocking his view and their own faces with keffiyehs.

Eventually, the student tells them, “I live here,” as he tries to make his way through the crowd.

“You’re grabbing me,” he says, amid shouts of “SHAME!”

The student, who asked to remain anonymous, described being pushed and shoved as he tried to film them with his phone. A report to the FBI identified two of the people laying hands on him as fellow Harvard University graduate students, one a law student, Ibrahim Bharmal, a member of the Harvard Law Review, and the other a divinity school graduate student, Elom Tettey Tamaklo, who lives with Harvard undergraduate students in supervisory role known as a proctor.

Bharmal and Tamaklo did not respond to requests for comment.

A report has been filed with the Harvard University Police Department and the FBI’s Boston office. “An Israeli student on his way to class pulled his phone out to film the rioters and he was attacked. He was assaulted both physically and verbally. Throughout the assault he kept calm, but was aggressively attacked by Pro-Palestine rioters,” reads the report to the FBI, which was reviewed by the Free Beacon. “At least 2 of those involved have been identified as employees of the University and have not yet been dismissed from their posts.”

The FBI declined to comment.

It is unclear how or whether Harvard plans to address the incident, which was reported to Harvard Business School administrators. Neither the executive director of Harvard’s MBA program, Jana Kierstead, nor Harvard University president Claudine Gay responded to a request for comment.

The episode is the latest conflagration on the Harvard University campus since Hamas’s terrorist rampage on Israel and rising campus hostility to Jews. The Harvard donor and billionaire investor Seth Klarman, whose name adorns a Harvard Business School auditorium and conference center, said this week that Harvard has become “exceptionally hostile” to Jews.

His remarks came after statement signed by 34 student groups laid blame for Hamas’s terrorist atrocities squarely with Israel. Harvard president Claudine Gay’s equivocal statements—which did not denounce the views of those groups—since have also drawn ire from former college administrators like Larry Summers and prompted some donors to cut their ties with the school.

Jewish students and administrators are also expressing concern about the university’s lax response to expressions of hostility toward Israel and the Jewish people. “This morning I was reflecting on the lengths to which Harvard went to try and penalize students who were members of off-campus Final Clubs. Yet, beyond saying that they don’t speak for the university, it says and does nothing about students and Harvard entities who support Jewish murder, and call for more of it,” Rabbi Hirschey Zachai, the founder and president of Harvard’s Chabad wrote in an email obtained by the Free Beacon. “It severed its ties with single-gender Final Clubs in 1984, but in 2023 allows student organizations to maintain their Harvard affiliation while supporting terror and calling for more of it.”

In correspondence with law enforcement, the victim of Wednesday’s bullying identified two of the assailants as law school student Ibrahim Bharmal, a member of the Harvard Law Review and a Stanford University graduate, and Elom Tettey Tamaklo, a divinity school student who lives alongside first-year students and “host weekly study breaks” to “help with your adjustment to Harvard. You’ll find they are an excellent source of information about academics, extracurriculars, social life, and College resources.”

Bharmal in 2018 won Stanford’s Sterling award for service. The citation recognized his work “with the American Middle Eastern Network for Dialogue at Stanford, including serving as global engagement chair” and noted that he was active with “Markaz, the Muslim Student Resource Center and has been a voice of honesty and compassion around issues within the Muslim community.

Police failed to arrest a prolific shoplifter who had allegedly not turned up for a magistrates court hearing even though private detectives walked her into a police station, the Telegraph can reveal.

The woman, who has 96 convictions for shoplifting, had allegedly failed to appear for a court hearing in Croydon, south London, where the private detectives’ employer, TM Eye, was prosecuting her for a further shoplifting offence. A warrant issued for her arrest was enacted this week when TM Eye’s detectives spotted her and made a citizen’s arrest.

‘Top secret’ Hamas documents show that terrorists intentionally targeted elementary schools and a youth center

Maps and documents recovered from the bodies of Hamas attackers reveal a coordinated plan to target children and take hostages inside an Israeli village near Gaza.

By Anna Schecter

October 13, 2023

Documents exclusively obtained by NBC News show that Hamas created detailed plans to target elementary schools and a youth center in the Israeli kibbutz of Kfar Sa’ad, to “kill as many people as possible,” seize hostages and quickly move them into the Gaza Strip.

The attack plans, which are labeled “top secret” in Arabic, appear to be orders for two highly trained Hamas units to surround and infiltrate villages and target places where civilians, including children, gather. Israeli authorities are still determining the death toll in Kfar Sa’ad.

The documents were found on the bodies of Hamas terrorists by Israeli first responders and shared with NBC News. They include detailed maps and show that Hamas intended to kill or take hostage civilians and school children.

One page labeled “Top Secret” outlines a plan of attack for Kfar Sa’ad, saying “Combat unit 1” is directed to “contain the new Da’at school,” while “Combat unit 2” is to “collect hostages,” “search the Bnei Akiva youth center” and “search the old Da’at school.”

Another page labeled “Top Secret Maneuver” describes a plan for a Hamas unit to secure the east side of Kfar Sa’ad while a second unit controls the west. It says “kills as many as possible” and “capture hostages.” Other orders include surrounding a dining hall and holding hostages in it.

The detailed plan to attack Kfar Sa’ad is part of a trove of documents that Israeli officials are analyzing, according to one source in the Israeli army and one in the government. Surveillance video of Hamas terrorists entering a kibbutz on Oct. 7 shows tactics similar to those laid out in the documents obtained by NBC News.

The Israeli officials said that the wider group of documents show that Hamas had been systematically gathering intelligence on each kibbutz bordering Gaza and creating specific plans of attack for each village that included the intentional targeting of women and children.

“The dental office, the supermarket, the dining hall,” an Israel Defense Forces source said. “The level of specificity would cause anyone in the intelligence field’s jaw to drop.”

The plan of coordinated attacks flies in the face of recent claims by Hamas that it did not kill children. A video released by Hamas on Friday showed armed terrorists holding and feeding Israeli children taken hostage, including babies.

The Hamas documents, footage of the aftermath of the massacre and interviews with eyewitnesses and first responders tell a harrowing story.

“I saw murdered babies. I saw murdered children. I saw mothers and children murdered together,” said Yossi Landau, a commander of ZAKA, an Israeli first responder organization.

Kibbutz Kfar Aza was one of the worst hit locations in the unprecedented terror attack on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 7. The Hamas maps obtained by NBC News show blue circles around Kfar Sa’ad and three other villages that also border Gaza: Kfar Aza, Nahal Oz and Alumim.

Two Hamas units were to approach Kfar Sa’ad separately from two different assembly points, according to the documents. The also described the numbers and types of vehicles to be used by each group.

“Group 1 assembly point: HAMZA transportation: one jeep and four motorbikes…

“Group 2 assembly point: ABDEL RAHMAN transportation: one jeep and four motorbikes.”

Exactly how the vehicles should drive to the target villages was also laid out:

“Length of platoon train: approximately 125 meters…

“Shape and length of each group on the motorbikes: 50 meters for each group.”

One IDF official, who declined to be named while the investigation is ongoing, said he was astounded by the degree of planning that went into ensuring maximum civilian casualties. He said, “I’ve never seen this kind of detailed planning” for a mass terrorist attack.

Hamas flaunt Israeli babies and children in chilling video

Footage includes clip of a gunman holding a crying child placed on top of his rifle

Hamas has released chilling footage that appears to show terrorists picking up and cradling Israeli babies and small children.

The 49-second video includes a clip of a gunman clutching a crying baby placed on top of a rifle.

In another, a baby gurgles as a Hamas terrorist pats it on the back while walking out of what looks like a living room.

The footage also shows a little boy sitting on the knee of a terrorist, surrounded by at least eight more, in the garden of what appears to be a family home.

A masked man is also seen holding a small boy and another baby as he speaks to the camera in Arabic.

It is not known where or when the footage was taken or whether the children, or their parents, are still alive.

Hamas released the footage as Israel Defense Forces prepare to mount a ground assault in Gaza after warning 1.1 million civilians to evacuate their homes.

Dozens of Israeli children are known to have been killed or kidnapped by Hamas after it mounted its attack last Saturday.

It is feared that more than 100 Israeli hostages will be used by the terrorists as human shields.

The video may have been also released in response to some of the horrific images published by the Israeli government which appear to show babies and infants murdered by Hamas.

The images showed a blood-stained infant, still dressed in a babygrow and nappy, lying inside a small body bag.

“This is the most difficult image we’ve ever posted. As we are writing this we are shaking,” the Israeli government’s foreign ministry said in a post on Twitter.

“We went back and forth about posting this, but we need each and every one of you to know. This happened.”

On Friday, the foreign ministry posted another two graphic images. One showed a man who had been shot in the head, while another showed a limp, half-naked body being driven away on a motorbike.

Alongside the images, it wrote: “Women and girls raped. People burned alive. Young kids kidnapped. Babies tortured and murdered. Parents executed in front of their young children. Hamas is ISIS.”

Former IRS contractor pleads guilty to leaking Trump’s tax returns

Former IRS contractor pleads guilty to leaking Trump’s tax returns

U.S. authorities said Charles Edward Littlejohn leaked thousands of tax returns from wealthy people, leading to exposés in the New York Times and ProPublica

By Salvador Rizzo

October 12, 2023

A financial consultant who performed contract work for the IRS pleaded guilty Thursday to leaking reams of confidential tax returns filed by the wealthiest Americans, including those of then-President Donald Trump.

Charles Edward Littlejohn, 38, admitted in D.C. federal court that he obtained thousands of individuals’ tax returns by accessing an IRS database, and then leaked the materials to the New York Times and ProPublica beginning in 2019.

The news organizations published blockbuster reports based on the trove of data, showing how Trump and the wealthiest Americans employed financial strategies to slash their federal tax bills, in some cases down to zero.

At a plea hearing Thursday, Littlejohn admitted he leaked Trump’s tax returns to the Times, which published articles based on the data in the months before the 2020 election. The returns of other wealthy individuals, including tech billionaires Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Elon Musk, became the basis of reports in ProPublica, analyzing how the richest Americans manage to evade the federal government’s tax bite. (Bezos owns The Washington Post.)

The unprecedented leak of Americans’ confidential financial data renewed a debate in Congress about tax policy amid historic levels of income inequality, and served as an X-ray into Trump’s secretive finances after years in which he waged legal battles to protect their confidentiality.

U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes rebuked Littlejohn several times from the bench and said whatever ends he had could not justify his means. “I cannot overstate how troubled I am by what occurred,” Reyes said.

After an attorney for Trump, Alina Habba, delivered a statement in court calling for the maximum prison sentence of five years for Littlejohn, the judge said, “I agree completely that people taking the law into their own hands is unacceptable.”

“It doesn’t matter who the person is who was the victim of a crime,” Reyes said, before mentioning Trump by name and telling Habba that the former president could come deliver his own statement at Littlejohn’s sentencing, set for Jan. 29.

Vanessa Harvey, 49, will be up for parole in 2025 after serving 4 years

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman beat a man with a metal pole, skipped a prior court date, and was released from jail without having to post bail as an assessment deemed her a “moderate risk.” Days later, she killed a mother of eight. She could serve four years in prison.

Vanessa Harvey, 49, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a charge of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 42-year-old Machina Goodjoint. Harvey beat Goodjoint and a man with a metal object near Owens Avenue and H Street in the Historic Westside on Nov. 8, 2021. The man survived the beating.

Two weeks earlier, on Oct. 22, 2021, Harvey beat her first victim with a metal pole, police said.

Stanford Lecturer Suspended After Singling Out Jewish Students: Report

‘ONLY SIX MILLION’

By AJ McDougall

October 12, 2023

An instructor at Stanford University has been suspended as the school investigates allegations he targeted students based on their “identities and backgrounds” during two classes in which he gave impromptu lectures on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In one of the classes, the lecturer began by blaming the war on Zionists before asking “Jewish students to raise their hands,” Nourya Cohen, a Jewish student leader, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

“He asked how many Jews died in the Holocaust,” Cohen said, adding that when someone replied six million, “he said, ‘Yes. Only six million.’”

A rabbi who said he spoke to three students in the class told the Jewish news outlet Forward that the lecturer continued, “Colonizers killed more than six million. Israel is a colonizer.”

Cohen and another student leader alleged that the teacher then went around separating students in the classes out as either a “colonizer” or “colonized,” depending on where they said they were from.

On Wednesday, Stanford’s president and provost released a statement saying the instructor “is not currently teaching while the university works to ascertain the facts of the situation.”
