Judge facing heat for releasing alleged DC teen shooter donated to Soros tied fund, posted about being ‘woke’

A Washington, D.C., judge who released on bail a teenager accused of firing over two dozen rounds at a car full of people along a busy street has a social media presence filled with progressive activism and a financial link to progressive mega donor George Soros.

Lloyd U. Nolan, Jr., a magistrate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, is in the spotlight this week after he ordered that 18-year-old Amonte Moody be released from custody before his trial despite accusations he sprayed a D.C. neighborhood with shots from an AR-15 while targeting a car carrying four people.

Nolan’s online presence includes examples of progressive activism, including a post boasting about being “woke,” a post promoting Black Lives Matter and a post showing he donated to a fundraiser supporting a professor with ties to George Soros.

A Facebook post shows Nolan donated to Gideon’s Promise, a group founded in 2007 through a fellowship from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation on behalf of a professor named Jonathan Rapping.

Rapping, a professor at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, developed the venture, which is “devoted to training and supporting public defenders across the Southeastern United States.”

“We envision a nation where every person has access to zealous, outstanding legal representation necessary to ensure ‘equal justice for all’ in the criminal justice arena,” the Gideon’s Promise website states.

“Our programs and partnerships are uniquely tailored to support and strengthen the efficacy of public defenders as a critical part of systemic criminal justice reform. Public defenders are frontline advocates for the accused in this country and we are committed to nurturing and developing their skills at every career level to produce fairer outcomes for America’s most vulnerable citizens.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Nolan for comment on the social media posts but did not receive a response. Shortly after the request for comment was sent, Nolan’s Facebook page was set to private.

Nolan concluded that Moody, who was charged with endangerment with a firearm, possession of a weapon and assault, was not a threat to the community and approved a request to release him on house arrest with a GPS monitor on May 3, WJLA-TV reported.

The decision to release Moody on house arrest prompted outrage from many on social media. And prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., requested an emergency hearing scheduled for May 22 to discuss the matter and potentially reverse it.

“The government presented evidence establishing probable cause that the defendant fired an AR-15 weapon approximately 26 times at a car driving away on a public street in the 1700 block of Independence Ave SE then dissembled the firearm and hid it away in a ceiling,” the prosecutors wrote.

“Despite the egregiousness of this conduct, the strength of the case, including video evidence depicting it and two identifications of the defendant as the shooter, and the statutory presumption in favor of detention pending trial, the Magistrate Judge released the defendant.”

A spokesperson for the D.C. court system told Fox News Digital all defendants “have a presumption of innocence.”

“In this matter — after hearing arguments from both sides and the arguments for detention — the judge determined that 24-hour home confinement on electronic monitoring with the education and social services already in place for the defendant that release, on these strict conditions did ‘ensure the safety of the defendant and the public,'” the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson also told Fox News Digital the defense “relied heavily” on the fact that Moody had no prior encounters with law enforcement, and he was provided educational support and family and community resources.

“Judge Nolan conducted a very thorough hearing … and spoke directly with defendant about the consequences of violating any portion of the release conditions,” the spokesperson said.

Columbia University President Minouche Shafik is refusing to release security video that shows “peaceful protesters” engaging in the unlawful imprisonment of janitors inside Hamilton Hall.

Columbia University custodians’ union plans to sue school over anti-Israel protests, slams ‘bratty’ occupiers

By Greg Norman

May 9, 2024

A union representing custodians at Columbia University says it is gearing up to sue the Ivy League school for its response to the anti-Israel protests, in which its members allegedly were targeted by “spoiled” and “bratty” agitators who temporarily took over a campus building.

TWU International President John Samuelsen told ‘Fox & Friends’ on Thursday that his rank and file is “particularly incensed at Columbia for not protecting the workers and particularly pissed at those particular protesters that tried to hold our workers in the building” during the occupation of Hamilton Hall early last week.

“Everybody in the building, the entire TWU workforce in the building was fearful and rightfully so. They stormed in… but two of the custodians had to fight their way out. They were explicitly told ‘you’re staying here, you’re not going anywhere, this cause is bigger than you,” Samuelsen said. “Imagine that… kind of smarmy, sort of entitled, spoiled, bratty occupiers of the building come in and tell these blue-collar men and women ‘you’re not going anywhere, you’re staying here because this cause is bigger than you’ when they had to get home to their families. It’s outrageous, it’s an affront to workers everywhere.”

“Columbia should have never put the custodians or the security officer in that position and that is at the heart of the matter,” Samuelsen also said. “Columbia showed an epic disregard and epically failed to protect the workforce.

Hamilton Hall eventually was cleared out by the NYPD last Tuesday, but the TWU said this week that it is “exploring legal action against the university and the Hamilton Hall occupiers.”

In a letter Samuelsen addressed to Columbia University President Minouche Shafik, the union is demanding the names of the protesters arrested inside Hamilton Hall, security footage of the hostile takeover and a meeting with Shafik “regarding mitigation steps necessary to avoid future placement of members in harm’s way if the protests resume, and recompense to the TWU members who were subjected to this despicable conduct.”

“The TWU Security Officer, an African-American woman, managed to leave the building before the barricades went up,” he continued. “But she remains shaken by her encounter with the occupying protesters (aka privileged kids) who verbally attacked her in a very aggressive and extremely offensive manner.

“President Shafik, imagine for a moment being in the boots of the blue-collar Custodians and Security Officer. They came to work to earn a day’s pay so they could take care of their families and ended up being held against their will while being subjected to physical and verbal abuse,” Samuelsen also wrote. “Imagine yourself coming to work and being the victim of a serious crime because Columbia University didn’t care enough about you to engage in common sense protective measures.”

Columbia University did not immediately respond Thursday morning when asked by Fox News Digital to comment on the matter.

Los Angeles County Deputy Samuel Aispuro was shot because District Attorney George Gascón refused to lock up a violent serial criminal named Raymundo Duran

California police officer shot in back by criminal who should have been in jail: progressive DA’s challenger

By Louis Casiano

May 9, 2024

A known gang member with a long violent criminal history accused of shooting a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy could have been kept behind bars if not for soft-on-crime policies by the region’s top prosecutor, his election opponent said.

Raymundo Duran, 47, who allegedly shot Deputy Samuel Aispuro in the back at a stop light while he was sitting on his marked sheriff’s department motorcycle on April 22 in West Covina, California, has been involved in a number of violent crimes, including two felony assaults that he committed while serving an 11-year sentence for manslaughter, according to court records.

Aispuro, a nearly 20-year veteran of the department, was wearing his bulletproof vest and survived the unprovoked attack.

In 2021, Duran was arrested after leading authorities on a car and foot chase in which he was charged with committing a hit-and-run, resisting arrest and fleeing from a police officer. Authorities were forced to collide with Duran’s vehicle to stop him before he briefly ran from the scene, authorities said.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, a Democrat, could have had Duran imprisoned, but he was instead sentenced to probation as part of a plea deal, according to Gascón’s election challenger.

“Raymundo Duran, by all accounts, is a sociopath who has committed violent act after violent act for decades,” Nathan Hochman, a former federal prosecutor running as an independent to unseat Gascón, told Fox News Digital. “Unfortunately, the sentences that he’s received haven’t deterred him from committing additional violent conduct.”

“So, when George Gascón has his chance to deal with Mr. Duran and make it so he won’t be able to victimize others, he decides to go for the lowest sentences,” he added.

Gascón has faced harsh criticism from his own prosecutors as well as law enforcement and elected officials over his progressive criminal justice policies.

Jason Lustig, a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County, said prosecutors have been demoralized after nearly four years under his boss.

“Everybody has just really been sickened over it,” he told Fox News Digital. “We have a front-row seat to seeing more victims adding up. We see it every day.”

At the time of his 2021 arrest, Duran was a four-time convicted felon wanted for a parole violation. He also has a 1996 conviction for domestic violence. In 2002, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for stabbing his boss at a Jiffy Lube to death as part of a plea deal, Hochman noted.

In 2003, a year into his prison term, Duran assaulted a guard at Salinas Valley State Prison. He pleaded no contest in Monterey County Superior Court, court records state.

On Nov. 9, 2009, Duran stabbed another prisoner with a “shank,” a makeshift knife. He was sentenced to another four years after pleading guilty to assaulting a prisoner in a manner likely to cause great bodily injury.

After his release, he violated his parole, and in February 2022, he was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The crime was punishable by six years in prison, but prosecutors entered into a plea deal with Duran, who was sentenced to two years, four months.

“In 2021, had he actually gotten a six-year sentence or longer, he wouldn’t have been in the place to have shot the gun at the deputy in West Covina,” Hochman said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Gascón’s office.

Duran, who was in a 2008 Toyota Camry, was arrested in San Diego County hours after the ambush shooting. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer, assault against a peace officer, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

“The senseless and unprovoked shooting of Deputy Samuel Aispuro is a stark reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily,” Gascón said days after the shooting. “Our office is committed to vigorously prosecuting the offender to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts are with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Aispuro as he recovers from this tragic incident.”

In Manhattan, a guy who stole an Israeli flag right out of the owner’s hands, and set it on fire, was released without bail. That last part is on you, Alvin Bragg. Shame on you.

Man busted at Columbia protest accused of burning Israeli flag

By Mira Wassef

May 2, 2024

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A man who was arrested during the Columbia University protests on Tuesday is also accused of stealing and burning an Israeli flag during a Manhattan protest last month, police and sources said Thursday.

James Carlson, 40, of Brooklyn, was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal mischief, arson, and criminal possession of stolen property in connection to the April 20 incident, according to the NYPD.

Carlson allegedly took the 22-year-old man’s Israeli flag and lit it on fire during a protest near West 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at around 10 p.m., authorities said.

The victim followed Carlson and two accomplices into the crowd when one of the accomplices threw a rock at the man’s face, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

The other two suspects have not been arrested, police said.

Sources said Carlson was among the protesters arrested at Columbia University Tuesday night. He was charged with criminal trespassing.

Carlson was arraigned in the flag and protest incidents on Thursday and released without bail, according to court records.

Authorities arrested nearly 300 people at protests at Columbia University or City College on Tuesday, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

More than 40% — roughly 130 — of those detained at the New York City campuses were not tied to the schools, according to a source close to the investigation. But the breakdown is much lower for Columbia, specifically, with just 29% of those arrested being unaffiliated with the school, the source said.

It was unclear if the unaffiliated arrests were considered “outside agitators.”

This rape was completely preventable. Carl Jerome Hamilton should have already been locked up for life a long time ago. Shame on Nashville.

Convicted felon with 100+ past offenses arrested for raping, kidnapping Amazon delivery worker

By Ethan Illers

April 26, 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A convicted felon, who has been charged with 105 offenses in Nashville since 2007, was arrested Friday for allegedly raping and kidnapping an Amazon delivery worker.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said 34-year-old Carl Jerome Hamilton is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, and robbery for allegedly attacking an Amazon delivery worker in the mailroom of an apartment building located in the 700 block of President Ronald Reagan Way.

The 25-year-old victim was delivering packages to the building at around 4 a.m. Friday, April 26, when Hamilton allegedly pushed her further into the mailroom and shut the door. He then demanded she remove her clothing and sexually assaulted her before forcing her to come with him to her delivery vehicle and drive to an ATM on Murfreesboro Pike, where he used her debit card to withdraw $100, according to investigators.

Hamilton then reportedly drove the victim around for nearly an hour before eventually leaving her and her car.

Officers reviewed surveillance video at the apartment building that showed clear pictures of the man committing the attack. As officers were about to leave the building, Hamilton – wearing the same clothing as seen in the surveillance video – passed by the front window and was immediately arrested, according to police.

Detectives said the apartment manager knew Hamilton by name because he was arrested at the property on March 5 and Jan. 2 for criminal trespassing.

Hamilton was also arrested for kidnapping and robbery in 2020 in connection with the assault of a 24-year-old woman on Academy Place. Investigators said he was convicted of those charges in July of 2022 and received a six-year sentence.

Mary Osako, please explain why UCLA hasn’t fired the security guard who stood by, watched, and did nothing to intervene, as masked terrorists prevented a Jewish student named Eli Tsives from entering the university.

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

May 1, 2024

This video from UCLA shows a security guard standing by, watching, and doing nothing to intervene, as masked terrorists prevented a Jewish student named Eli Tsives from entering the university.

https://twitter.com/persianjewess/status/1785021873555902744

After the video went viral, Mary Osako, the school’s Vice Chancellor for Strategic Communications, issued the following statement:

“Yesterday some physical altercations occurred among demonstrators in Royce Quad. In response, we have taken several actions to significantly increase our security presence, including adding greater numbers of campus law enforcement, safety personnel and student affairs monitors.”

“There was also a report of a student’s access to class being blocked by demonstrators yesterday. This kind of disruption to our teaching and learning mission is abhorrent, plain and simple. As such, we’ve taken several, immediate actions: Our student conduct process has been initiated, and could lead to severe disciplinary action including expulsion or suspension. The barriers that demonstrators used to block this student’s access to class have been removed and we have staff located around Royce Quad to help ensure that they will not go up again. We have also engaged law enforcement to investigate.”

“While the demonstration remains largely peaceful, our campus must remain a place where we treat one another with respect and recognize our shared humanity — not a place where we devolve into violence and bullying.”

So Osako said that the school will be “adding greater numbers of campus law enforcement, safety personnel and student affairs monitors.”

So the school plans to hire additional security guards, so they, too, can stand by, watch, and do nothing to intervene, when this kind of thing happens.

So here’s my question for Mary Osako:

Mary Osako, please explain why UCLA hasn’t fired the security guard who stood by, watched, and did nothing to intervene, as masked terrorists prevented a Jewish student named Eli Tsives from entering the university.

At least 15 women were raped because Boston refused to lock up a violent serial criminal named Alvin Campbell, who was the brother of Boston city council member Andrea Campbell when these rapes happened.

Boston police failed to arrest ‘serial rapist’ for years despite DNA evidence

By Walter Wuthmann

April 22, 2024

It started off like countless other Uber rides in downtown Boston.

A group of friends piled into a car after hanging out at a bar. Then, they started arguing. Most of the friends got out at their hotel, and the man offered to drive the remaining rider around to “collect herself.”

But when the woman asked the driver to drop her back off at the hotel, he refused.

Instead, he took her to his apartment in Dorchester that Saturday in July 2016 and sexually assaulted her, police alleged in court records.

A DNA test identified the suspect as Alvin Campbell Jr., a burly 43-year-old with a long criminal history and a prominent relative. Campbell is the brother of Andrea Campbell, then a Boston city councilor and now the state’s attorney general.

Despite the DNA evidence, Alvin Campbell was never arrested or charged in connection with the encounter. And police never alerted the public.

Over the next two years, a WBUR investigation found, three more women shared similar stories with police about a man who assaulted them after offering them rides at Boston bars. In each case, DNA and other evidence pointed to Alvin Campbell, according to an application for a search warrant obtained by WBUR. And each time, authorities decided not to detain him or seek criminal charges.

Boston police finally arrested Campbell in early 2020 after a fifth woman reported she was raped. At that point, investigators made a horrifying discovery. They found evidence on his phone indicating he had sexually assaulted at least 10 additional women since the first incident in 2016.

Campbell grew up in Roxbury and graduated from a vocational high school there. According to interviews and other public records, Campbell spent much of his adult life cycling in and out of state and federal prison for physical assaults and gun convictions.

In court, prosecutors and police allege Campbell preyed on intoxicated women at downtown Boston bars for at least three years, often posing as a ride-hailing driver.

Why didn’t Diablo Valley College ethics professor Eric Clanton get any prison time for hitting seven Trump supporters in the head with a metal bike lock?

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

April 20, 2024

This video shows a masked Antifa thug using a metal bike lock to smash the head of an innocent Trump supporter at Berkeley, California, in April 2017:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qKCl9NL1Cg

Some awesomely talented amateur sleuth observers at 4chan later identified the thug based on his partially visible face, his clothing, and several other things.

Any one of these things by itself is pretty meaningless. But taken together, it is extremely likely that they identified the correct person.

For specific details, see here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

The police also did their own investigation, and when they searched the person’s house, they found clothing and other items that matched that of the person in the video. Phone records also show that the person was present during the assault.

And it turned out that the thug is left wing Diablo Valley College ethics professor Eric Clanton.

Clanton supports shoplifting, opposes private ownership of property, and has defended convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

It was later reported that Clanton would not be getting any prison time for his brutal assaults against seven innocent Trump supporters.

The news reported that Clanton used the metal bike lock to assault the heads of at least seven people.

The news also detailed the evidence the police found in Clanton’s home tying him to these attacks.

It’s completely despicable that Clanton did not get any prison time for what he did.

By giving zero jail time to 78 protestors who blocked the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in November of 2023, the city was inviting more of this kind of behavior. And sure enough, the city got exactly what it asked for.

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

April 20, 2024

According to this article from Associated Press, zero jail time was given to 78 protestors who blocked the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in November of 2023.

This sent the message that this kind of behavior is tolerated and acceptable.

So now in April 2024, a bunch of protestors blocked the Golden Gate Bridge.

Although I disagree with the city’s policy of inviting protestors to block the bridge, I don’t live in that city, and I have to respect the wishes of the city’s voters.

That being said, in this video, Matt Walsh said that stopping access to bridges is a policy that is used by the military during wartime, and he thinks that these civilian protestors who blocked the Golden Gate Bridge should get 100 years in prison. He says if this happened just once, no one would ever block a bridge in the city again. I think he has a good point.

A 9-year-old girl was punched in the head because Manhattan Judge Laurie Peterson released Jean Carlos Zarzuela without bail after he broke a 54-year-old woman’s nose.

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

April 14, 2024

Here’s the newest example of how New York City is in favor of violent crime.

In Manhattan, a 30-year-old man named Jean Carlos Zarzuela punched a 54-year-old woman so hard that he broke her nose.

Zarzuela was arrested for that, but Manhattan Judge Laurie Peterson released him without bail.

Four days after Judge Peterson released Zarzuela without bail, he punched a 9-year-old girl in the head.

This is yet even more proof that New York City is in favor of violent crime.

Stranger punches girl at NYC Grand Central Station days after release in similar attack

By John Annese

April 14, 2024

A homeless man freed without bail after randomly breaking a woman’s nose went on to sucker-punch a 9-year-old girl in the face in Grand Central Station, MTA officials said.

Jean Carlos Zarzuela, 30, was busted after he allegedly socked the youngster as she stood next to her stunned mom in the station’s dining concourse about 11:50 a.m. Saturday, MTA police said. Medics took the girl to NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital for treatment.

MTA cops investigating the attack knew Zarzuela’s last known address was a homeless shelter on E. 125th St. They headed to the E. 125th St. subway station on Lexington Ave. Saturday evening and asked a pair of NYPD transit cops for help, according to law enforcement sources.

Sure enough, the NYPD cops recognized his photo and said they saw him about 10 minutes earlier. NYPD transit cops found Zarzuela and took him to the MTA police officers, who made the arrest.

Zarzuela is also accused of punching a 54-year-old woman in Grand Central Station on April 4. MTA cops initially charged him with felony assault but prosecutors in Manhattan dropped that down to a misdemeanor.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Pamela Goldsmith ordered him held on $2,500 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Records show he had a bench warrant out for assault cases in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

On Tuesday, he appeared before Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Laurie Peterson, according to the court system’s online docket. She released him without bail just four days before the attack on the young girl.

“It doesn’t make any sense that this guy — who recently was released after being charged with randomly punching someone else and breaking that victim’s nose — should be back in a public space where he can attack others, especially children,” MTA communications director Tim Minton said.

“The people responsible for the criminal justice system need to learn from this episode before more innocent people become victims.”

Zarzuela awaits arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Sunday. His lawyer did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

16-year-old suspect in violent church mugging in Queens arrested 9 other times

16-year-old suspect in violent church mugging in Queens arrested 9 other times

April 12, 2024

JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — The 16-year-old suspect caught on video shoving a senior down the stairs of her church in Queens during a violent mugging is now being charged with robbing and assaulting her.

The teen was taken to the hospital after he took off his shirt off in the precinct holding cell and wrapped it around his neck. Police say he was taken to the hospital for evaluation, and once he is released, he will be arraigned.

Despite being arraigned as an adult, the Queens District Attorneys Office says they will not be identifying the 16-year-old because of his age.

He has been arrested nine times in Queens as an adolescent offender since August 2023. Eight of those arrests involved robberies and the ninth was criminal possession of stolen property.

The teen was arrested Thursday on charges including robbery, assault, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

The attack happened Sunday morning outside St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Jamaica Hills. The victim, a 68-year-old mother of two named Irene Tahliambouris, was heading to service when she was attacked.

Surveillance video shows the attacker run in front of the victim, as she walks up the steps to the church entrance, and violently shove her, sending her falling backwards. She suffered a fractured skull and black eye, but she is stable in the ICU.

After the assault, the suspect grabbed Tahliambouris’ purse with her car keys and cellphone inside.

He also allegedly stole her 2006 Nissan Altima, which police recovered overnight on Tuesday, approximately 3.5 miles away from the church. Police were able to pull a fingerprint from the recovered car.

The victim’s family posted on social media, saying in part: “criminals feel comfortable doing things to helpless people because the laws in our state do not hold them accountable.”

Father Konstantions Kalogridis says he and the parishioners at the church are relieved that a suspect is in custody.

“There were no words to express you know, the shock and the surprise to see one of my parishioners, a simple, humble lady going to church,” he said. “She was almost ready to open the door of the church.”

Harry Panagiotopoulos says the attack rattled the entire Greek community in Queens. He says it’s the lack of action following brutal crimes that continues to put communities in danger.

“We have Greek Easter coming up as well. It’s on the 5th of May, my grandmother doesn’t want to go to church and I’m sure many grandmothers don’t want to go to church, they’re afraid to go to church, what a shame,” Panagiotopoulos said.

The victim’s family said she is doing much better. She is still in the hospital but can now recognize people and speak and they hope she will be able to go home soon.

The teen is being investigated in other neighborhood crimes, including an attempted robbery of an elderly person. In addition to the church attack, he is being charged with an unrelated incident three days earlier where he allegedly stole another woman’s car.

Teen brute accused of shoving, robbing granny outside NYC church is linked to another car theft days earlier: prosecutors

By Joe Marino, Tina Moore, and Amanda Woods

April 12, 2024

He is just 16 and has already been arrested five times for violent robberies and assaults — including allegedly pushing a Queens granny down church steps, sending her to the hospital.

Teen brute Jayvaun Prince allegedly mugged another woman just days before he shoved 68-year-old regular churchgoer Irene Tahliambouris, leaving her with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, according to prosecutors.

Following his arrest Thursday, Prince was charged both for the April 7 attack on Tahliambouris and the April 4 robbery, in which he allegedly threatened a 50-year-old woman into handing over her wallet and keys and stole her car.

But it was far from his first time in cuffs.

Sources said Prince was arrested twice, in August and September, and charged with six robberies total that took place in Queens in August.

He was also arrested twice for misdemeanor assaults, in December 2023 and then again on Feb. 2, according to law enforcement sources.

He is also wanted in connection to the robbery of a delivery person on Feb. 4, the sources said Friday.

The teen’s latest arrest sparked outrage from Tahliambouris’ family and police officials, who wondered why he was out on the streets despite his lengthy rap sheet.

“Absolutely shocking that this heinous crime was committed by a 16-year-old!” NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell wrote on X Friday.

“A teenager who has had multiple felony arrests, robberies of women and yet he is walking around the streets,” Chell wrote.

“Obviously he needs help! Irene represents all of our moms, grandmothers, and everything else. Why is this happening? This was avoidable! What part of the process broke down and allowed this to happen????”

In a statement to Fox News on Friday, Tahliambouris’ family blamed New York State laws for emboldening criminals.

“Criminals feel comfortable doing things to helpless people because the laws in our state do not hold them accountable,” said the statement.

“The recidivism rate of criminal felonies is high, yet the state refuses to change laws to remand them to jail or charge them to the fullest extent of the law.”

“We are seeing an increase in petty crimes that are no longer able to be prosecuted, and those people are going on to commit violent crimes, yet Albany and NYC refuse to make the necessary changes to the law to ensure these criminals are held accountable.”

Video of the vicious church attack, previously obtained by The Post, showed the suspect stalking Tahliambouris as she walked up to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Briarwood.

He then suddenly got in front of her and punted her down the steps while standing on the top landing, according to the footage.

As she lay on the ground, the brute callously picked her pockets and stole her purse before bolting in her car, a 2006 Nissan Altima.

In the strikingly similar case days earlier, Prince allegedly cornered the victim inside an elevator at a building on 127th Avenue in Rochdale Village, telling her he had followed her from a bank, where she withdrew money, prosecutors said.

He demanded she fork over the cash and her keys, as he put his hand in his pocket and simulated a gun, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Prince then allegedly made a beeline for the exit and took off in the victim’s Toyota Corolla, prosecutors said.

He faces a number of charges in that case, including robbery, grand larceny and menacing, the DA’s office said.

Authorities charged him in that case after he was taken into custody Thursday for Tahliambouris’ mugging, in which he faces robbery, assault, grand larceny and other raps.

“The viciousness with which the defendant is accused of having committed the robbery at the church struck the city at its core,” Queens DA Melinda Katz said in a statement.

The teen’s open cases include the string of robberies from Queens in August – and his mugshot photo from that arrest helped link him to the violent church crime, police sources said.

In the first incident, he allegedly robbed a 13-year-old girl on Aug. 8, and then on Aug. 17, approached a 35-year-old man getting out of his car and mugged him at knifepoint, according to the sources.

His next stick-up victim was a 63-year-old woman – who he also approached at knifepoint that same day as she got out of her car, the sources said.

Then on Aug. 25, he allegedly punched a 46-year-old woman in the back and snatched her backpack as she entered the Parsons Avenue subway station, the sources said.

Prince was also busted on September 14 and charged with stealing someone’s purse on Aug. 21, and with another knifepoint robbery from Aug. 25, in which he targeted someone who was sitting inside a car, according to the sources.

Sources said the teen attempted suicide Friday by wrapping his sweatshirt around his neck at the NYPD’s 107th Precinct stationhouse.

He was brought out on a stretcher and hospitalized, but was not seriously injured, the sources said.

It’s unclear when he will be arraigned in the two latest cases.

By Friday afternoon, Tahliambouris remained in critical but stable condition, unable to stand or move on her own, the DA’s office said.

“She is a loving 68-year-old grandmother that would always do anything she could to help anyone at all times,” her son, who identified himself as Freddy, posted on a GoFundMe page for his mother’s medical care, describing her as “Always happy and in good spirits.”

“We can only imagine the pain that she [experienced] being knocked off the stairs of the church hitting the back of her head on the concrete, while this vicious person with no consideration to life attacks her and [takes] all her belongings and car,” Freddy wrote.

The Rev. Konstantinos Kalogridis, pastor of St. Demetrios, told The Post Friday that he visited Tahliambouris two days ago – and she is doing “much better.”

“I saw her in the hospital,” Kalogridis said in a phone interview.

“I blessed her and gave her communion. She was smiling. She’s a strong woman. She’s peaceful and you know, she’s doing her best and she has a good team of doctors taking care of her and the love of her family and the community. And I think she’s going in a good direction.”

“The whole time that I was with her, she didn’t stop smiling and looking so peaceful and happy,” he added.

“Considering what she went through, to see a woman to be in that peaceful, happy state was amazing for me.”

Kalogridis said he is grateful that the young attacker who allegedly targeted his parishioner is finally off the streets – but strongly urged the teen to “repent.”

“It’s sad that he’s 16 years old,” Kalogridis said.

“We’re praying that he will realize his mistake, and that he will repent and realize the grievous sin [that] he did to this poor lady.”

“And I hope and pray that you know, his family will help him and then he will get professional help for his evil act.”

A member of the O.J. Simpson jury told a reporter that they knew he was guilty

OJ Simpson Juror: Not-Guilty Verdict Was ‘Payback’ for Rodney King

Tim Molloy

June 15, 2016

Trial watchers, sociologists and even FX’s show “People v OJ Simpson” have argued that the jurors in O.J. Simpson’s murder case acquitted him as payback for the Rodney King beating. And in ESPN’s new event series, “O.J.: Made in America,” one juror finally comes out and says it.

In an excerpt aired on public radio show “Fresh Air” this week, juror Carrie Bess, who is now in her 70s, is asked whether “there are members of the jury that voted to acquit OJ because of Rodney King.”

“Yes,” she says simply. Later she says that she was one of them.

Ezra Edelman’s five-part documentary shows the long history of police brutality against African Americans in Los Angeles, including the beating by four officers of King, an unarmed driver who had led police on a chase. The officers were acquitted, which sparked the L.A. riots of 1992 in which 55 people died.

Bess’ comments come in the final episode of “Made in America,” when the series concludes on ESPN Saturday.

Here’s a transcription:

Interviewer: Do you think there are members of the jury that voted to acquit OJ because of Rodney King?

Bess: Yes.

Interviewer: You do?

Bess: Yes.

Interviewer: How many of you do you think felt that way?

Bess: Oh, probably 90 percent of them.

Interviewer: 90 percent. Did you feel that way?

Bess: Yes.

Interviewer: That was payback.

Bess: Uh-huh.

Interviewer: Do you think that’s right?

At that question, she holds up her hands.

Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of killing Ron Goldman and his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, after his lawyers told the jurors — who were mostly African American — that Simpson was the victim of a racist LAPD conspiracy.

Simpson was later found liable for their deaths in civil court, and sentenced to 33 years in prison in 2007 in an armed robbery in which he said he was trying to recover sports memorabilia that was stolen from him.

“O.J.: Made in America” airs at 9 p.m. ET this coming Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (June 15, 17 and 19).

A 68-year-old woman named Irene Tahliambouris received a skull fracture and a black eye because New York City refused to lock up a 16-year-old male who had previously robbed other women.

Family of grandmother attacked on church steps blasts lawmakers for not holding criminals accountable

By Chris Eberhart

April 12, 2024

A 16-year-old suspect accused of shoving a grandmother down a flight of church steps and rummaging through her purse was arrested Thursday, the NYPD said.

The victim, who was identified by her family as 68-year-old Irene Tahliambouris, was pushed so hard that she went airborne and landed flat on her back, security video shows.

She suffered a fractured skull and a black eye, according to her family, and as she writhed in pain, the suspect allegedly stole $300, her cellphone and her car before fleeing the scene outside St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Queens, New York, on Sunday.

“We are devastated to even imagine the pain she is experiencing after being knocked off the stairs of the church, hitting the back of her head on the concrete while this vicious person, with no consideration for life, attacked her and took all her belongings and her car,” her family said in a statement.

Tahliambouris walked up the church stairs on Sunday when the teenage suspect ran alongside her and then pushed her from the top step, surveillance footage shows.

Her family said a lax approach to law and order, coupled with a high recidivism rate, continues to put unsuspecting victims in harm’s way.

“Criminals feel comfortable doing things to helpless people because the laws in our state do not hold them accountable,” her family said. “The recidivism rate of criminal felonies is high, yet the state refuses to change laws to remand them to jail or charge them to the fullest extent of the law.

“We are seeing an increase in petty crimes that are no longer able to be prosecuted, and those people are going on to commit violent crimes, yet Albany and NYC refuse to make the necessary changes to the law to ensure these criminals are held accountable.”

The suspect in Sunday’s attack, who was not named because of his age, was arrested by the NYPD and charged with robbery and assault.

Meanwhile, the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the attack. She is now in “stable” condition.

“She is showing signs of recognition, giving us hope,” her family said. “Irene is a loving woman who has always been there to help anyone in need, always happy and in good spirits.”

Her son said in a verified GoFundMe post, “I’m helping my mom to be able to get what she needs to get her life back together.”

The brutality of the attack seen in the surveillance video brought more attention to this case.

“We know that the District Attorney and the NYPD are giving this case the attention it deserves,” the family said. “We trust that they will take all necessary actions to bring the perpetrator to justice and uphold the safety of our community.

“We are grateful for the support and prayers from our community and from people everywhere.”

Since July 2023, the city of San Francisco has been trying to cover up the murder of Yanfang Wu, has been refusing to release the video of her murder, and has been falsely claiming that her death was an “accident.”

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

April 9, 2024

On July 3, 2023, in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco, a woman named Thea Hopkins murdered a 63-year-old Asian woman named Yanfang Wu. The city has video of this murder, but refused to release it to the public. The city falsely claimed that Wu’s death was an “accident.” As of March 19, 2024, the city has still refused to release the video to the public.

On March 4, 2024, in the exact same neighborhood, the exact same violent criminal assaulted a 71-year-old Asian woman. This time, the victim survived. But this time, the city did not make the bogus claim that it was an “accident.” For this March 4, 2024 incident, the city arrested Thea Hopkins and charged her with assault and elder abuse.

The city has still not released the video of Thea Hopkins murdering Yanfang Wu.

The city still claims that Wu’s death was an “accident.”

Since July 2023, the city of San Francisco has been trying to cover up the murder of Yanfang Wu.

My hypothesis: The people who run New York City want violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as possible. If I’m wrong, then please offer a better explanation for why they keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again and again and again.

The police in New York City are doing their job. The police want to protect innocent people from violent criminals. My criticism here is not aimed at the police.

But the judges and district attorneys are not doing their job.

Here is my hypothesis: The people who run New York City want violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as possible.

If I’m wrong, then please offer a better explanation for why they keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again and again and again.

Here are multiple examples of the leaders of New York City allowing violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as they want:

This report from NBC News is about the “knockout game.” Men are running around hitting women (total strangers) in the head.

NBC says that the judges and district attorneys keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again, so they can keep hurting as many women as they want.

The judges and district attorneys want these women to get hurt. That’s the only possible explanation for why they they keep releasing the same violent criminals again and again, and allow them to hurt as many women as they want.

Rashid Brimmage is a violent serial criminal.

He is “a registered sex offender with at least 100 arrests for charges ranging from assault, to resisting arrest and persistent sexual abuse.”

The reason that the judges and district attorneys in New York City have released him 103 is times because they want him to continue raping and assaulting as many people as possible.

New York City is knowingly and deliberately allowing a group of drug dealers to use a Burger King as their regular place of business.

The police were called 143 times since last year, but the city is allowing the drug dealers to do whatever they want.

Mayor Eric Adams visited the Burger King recently, and he brought a large group of police officers with him, because he knew how dangerous it would be.

But no one was arrested.

Adams gets police protection, while regular citizens get no protection.

This quote is from John Miller, CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst.

It shows just how much New York City is in favor of crime.

These are the criminals that New York City recently released without bail, after they assaulted police officers. These are some of the crimes that they committed before they assaulted the police.

John Miller, CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, said:

“These individuals, I went over their rap sheets yesterday, multiple charges, grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny.”

“This particular crew operated on mopeds and scooters. They were doing organized retail theft. They were doing snatches on the street, iPhones, iPads, clothing, so on and so forth. One of them that they are still seeking has ten charges on one day because he’s part of a pattern that’s been going on.”

“And I’m looking at the dates that their arrest started, which is probably close to when they got here. They’ve only been here a couple of months. So, what the detectives are telling me is they have crews here that operate in New York, do all their stealing, then go to Florida to spend the money and then come back. And I’m like, well, why don’t they just stay and steal in Florida? And they said, because there, you go to jail.”

OK. That’s all the examples that I am posting in this blog post.

My hypothesis is that the people who run New York City want violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as possible.

If anyone has a better explanation for why New York City keeps releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again and again and again, please offer it.

“So for violent crime, property crime and homicides, the number of crimes could have gone up, gone down or stayed the same. We really don’t know.”

The FBI’s new crime report is in, but it’s incomplete

By Jason Fuller and Patrick Jarenwattananon

October 5, 2022

NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly speaks with Weihua Li, a data reporter for The Marshall Project, on the FBI’s new and incomplete crime report and consequences for the public.

MARY LOUISE KELLY, HOST:

Crime is a huge topic in elections this November, and the FBI has now entered the chat. It has just released the Crime in the Nation report for 2021. But the bureau switched the way it collects crime data this year, and many police departments did not get on board. Los Angeles and New York City did not report to the FBI. In fact, only 63% of the country’s police departments submitted anything, and some of the data that was submitted was incomplete. Weihua Li of The Marshall Project has been poring over the FBI’s findings. Hey there.

WEIHUA LI: Hey there, Mary Louise. Thank you for having me.

KELLY: Glad to have you with us. OK. So it seems like some places were very good at submitting data under this new system. Others were very not good. Where are the big blind spots?

LI: Yeah, for sure. So we have some states like California and Florida, where almost no agency in that state submitted any data to the FBI. And there are also a lot of larger cities. You know, the largest police department, New York Police Department, didn’t submit anything to the FBI. So a lot of blind spots.

KELLY: A lot of blind spots. I mean, I’m wondering how accurate the numbers can possibly be if – just to take the two biggest cities in the country, New York and LA, they didn’t report at all.

LI: Yeah. Yeah, that’s a really good question. And it’s something that criminologists and people who work in criminal justice have been very worried about for a while now. So the FBI is used to receiving data from more than 90% of police departments across the country. But like you said earlier, in 2021, because they changed their data collection method, the number have dropped to roughly 60%. So instead of saying a finite number, you know, X number of crimes took place, they’re saying we think the range of crime that took place in 2021 is somewhere between Y and Z. So for violent crime, property crime and homicides, the number of crimes could have gone up, gone down or stayed the same. We really don’t know.

KELLY: Why did the FBI switch systems?

LI: In 1988, the FBI released a newer crime collection system, the National Incident-Based Reporting Program, NIBRS. And using that, a lot of agencies have been switching over the past couple of decades. Around 2015, 2016, the FBI decided that by 2021 they would retire the old system entirely and only accept data through the new system. So they will be provide the nation with data with a lot more granularity and detail and allow us to see what is happening. But unfortunately, what happened as a result is about 40% of agencies didn’t make that switch, so they couldn’t report their data to the FBI anymore.

KELLY: I see. I mean, having accurate numbers on crime feels important for all kinds of reasons. Are there any reliable takeaways from this report that might give us a sense of the scope of crime, trends in crime in the country?

LI: The top line finding the FBI found is number of violent crime, property crime and homicide didn’t really change from 2020. And we have other reports from the Justice Department, namely the National Victimization Survey, that backs that finding.

KELLY: What does the FBI have to say about this? Are they defending the report?

LI: They are. The FBI sees this as a success story. The number of agencies that has switched to this newer system have been increasing. So they’re really playing the long game in saying, sure, there may be a lot of uncertainty for a couple of years, but in the long run, we will know a lot more about crimes that were reported to the police. So they’re holding onto hope.

KELLY: Weihua Li is a data reporter for The Marshall Project. Thank you for sharing your reporting with us.

LI: Thank you so much.

California homeowners are using vigilante justice to kick out squatters, because the government is not enforcing the laws against squatting.

Out-squatted: Handyman Flash Shelton will squat with your squatters — until they leave

By Jack Flemming

March 12, 2024

On a winter morning in Woodland Hills, the “Squatter Hunter” slowly approaches a posh two-story home dressed in all black, armed with a Glock 26 pistol, stun gun, pepper spray and baton. His body camera is on. His two-man squad lurks behind him.

They’ve spent four days in surveillance, learning the habits of the man squatting inside. They’ve waited for him to leave, but he never does. So they knock on the front door, and when the occupant opens it, they barge inside.

Their plan: live with the squatter. Dirty the bathroom. Take the best spot on the couch. Commandeer the TV remote. Blast music. Drink his coffee. Eat his Cheetos.

Out-squat him. And film it all for YouTube.

As the body camera footage shows, the team starts installing Ring cameras throughout the home to document every interaction. The Squatter Hunter, Flash Shelton, hands the man a lease with Shelton’s name on it.

“You’re an intruder in my house now,” he says.

Shelton explains that the man is there illegally, and the team is not going anywhere until he leaves. The squatter was out before they could even share breakfast together.

For homeowners in Southern California and beyond, run-ins with squatters can be a nightmare both emotionally and financially. For the Squatter Hunter, it’s just another day on the job.

What started as a viral YouTube video has grown into a one-of-a-kind vigilante-style service, helping homeowners boot trespassers from their property.

His motto: “If they can take a house, I can take a house.”

Woman sucker punched in Crown Heights recounts the frightening attack: ‘I was so scared’

By CeFaan Kim

March 27, 2024

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) — A vicious and unprovoked sucker punch left a woman battered and shaken in Brooklyn, and while her wounds may recover, her fear may take longer to heal.

Though hard for her to talk, the 57-year-old Dulce Pichardo spoke exclusively to Eyewitness News reporter CeFaan Kim after she was violently attacked while walking down Grand Avenue near Dean Street around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Video shows the suspect ignore another man walking nearby, and then punch Pichardo in her face, causing her to stumble backwards.

“What happened? Why are you hitting me? Why are you hitting me? I was bleeding a lot. I was so scared. So afraid,” she said.

Her mouth is now wired shut after her face was fractured in several places. She will need to drinking food out of a straw for six weeks.

She also suffered permanent damage to her lower lip, and three of her teeth were knocked out. She might need surgery.

Pichardo says her attacker didn’t say a word. He just stared at her and then broke her jaw.

“He hit me very, very strong over here,” Pichardo said. “And he broke everything here. Everything broke.”

Pichardo is a school bus aide and was returning from work when the attack happened. She was just steps away from home.

Her brother owns a restaurant across the street from where she lives. He and an employee chased the suspect down.

Yohan Flores says the suspect was standing cold and emotionless when they confronted him. The suspect denied attacking Pichardo.

Pichardo’s brother and the employee followed the suspect for several blocks and stopped him from fleeing until police arrived.

Officers arrested the man, identified as 33-year-old Franz Jeudy.

He was charged with misdemeanor assault, meaning he’s not bail eligible. He will be released back onto the street, and that’s the part that has the victim and her family frustrated and afraid.

“Every time I see a man, I cross,” Pichardo said. “I’m not going to be close to nobody. I’m very afraid. I tell my son where I’m going, I want you to walk with me.”

The victim’s niece Joselyn Martinez said Jeudy is being charged with third-degree assault because there was no intent.

Jeudy has seven prior arrests for assault charges.

A security guard had a “bad feeling” when he saw Manchester Arena suicide bomber Salman Abedi but did not approach him for fear of being branded a racist, a public inquiry has heard.

Kyle Lawler said he was stood 10 or 15ft away from Abedi, who had been reported to security by a member of the public who thought he looked “dodgy”.

The Showsec security guard, aged 18 at the time of the terror attack, told police in a statement read to the inquiry sitting in Manchester: “I felt unsure about what to do.

“It’s very difficult to define a terrorist. For all I knew he might well be an innocent Asian male. I did not want people to think I am stereotyping him because of his race.

“I was scared of being wrong and being branded a racist if I got it wrong and would have got into trouble. It made me hesitant.

“I wanted to get it right and not mess it up by overreacting or judging someone by their race.”

Abedi, 22, dressed all in black and carrying a large, bulky rucksack, was spotted and reported to security at 10.15pm on 22 May 2017.

The Manchester-born bomber, whose parents were Libyan, was sat on steps near the back of the foyer of the arena, known as the City Room, awaiting the end of an Ariana Grande concert.

Around eight minutes before he detonated his device, Showsec steward Mohammed Ali Agha alerted Lawler to the report by a member of the public and both began observing Abedi.

Lawler said: “At that time he was just an Asian male sat amongst a group of white people.

“As Ali turned to have a look he’s clocked that we are looking at him. He’s become fidgety with his hands. No sudden movements. He was watching us, watching him.

“He would kind of look, slightly look away and look back at us.”

In his statement to police, Lawler said: “I just had a bad feeling about him but did not have anything to justify that.”

He said Abedi was “fidgety and sweating” and he said he panicked slightly and was “conflicted” because he thought something was wrong but could not put his finger on it, the inquiry heard.

Lawler said he attempted to use his radio to alert the security control room but claimed he could not get through due to radio traffic.

He then left the area and took up his position on a walkway bridge outside the City Room and made no further attempt to raise the alarm.

Lawler agreed he simply “gave up” trying to use the radio and just got on with his job.

Around five minutes later, Abedi got to his feet and walked across the room towards the crowd emerging from the arena at the end of the gig at 10.31pm.

He was smiling, the inquiry heard, seconds before he detonated his home-made rucksack bomb, packed with thousands of nuts and bolts, murdering 22 bystanders and injuring hundreds more.

Lawler agreed that on five separate occasions after the bombing, he made statements, verbally or in writing, where he “deliberately shortened” the time between him leaving the City Room to the bomb going off, “so no one would say, why didn’t you do something?” the inquiry was told.

He said: “I had no recollection of minutes or seconds. I had a guilty feeling, I had a lot of blame on myself.”

The public inquiry is looking at the background circumstances before and during the bombing and is expected to last into next spring.
