In Manhattan, a guy who stole an Israeli flag right out of the owner’s hands, and set it on fire, was released without bail. That last part is on you, Alvin Bragg. Shame on you.

Man busted at Columbia protest accused of burning Israeli flag

By Mira Wassef

May 2, 2024

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A man who was arrested during the Columbia University protests on Tuesday is also accused of stealing and burning an Israeli flag during a Manhattan protest last month, police and sources said Thursday.

James Carlson, 40, of Brooklyn, was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal mischief, arson, and criminal possession of stolen property in connection to the April 20 incident, according to the NYPD.

Carlson allegedly took the 22-year-old man’s Israeli flag and lit it on fire during a protest near West 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at around 10 p.m., authorities said.

The victim followed Carlson and two accomplices into the crowd when one of the accomplices threw a rock at the man’s face, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

The other two suspects have not been arrested, police said.

Sources said Carlson was among the protesters arrested at Columbia University Tuesday night. He was charged with criminal trespassing.

Carlson was arraigned in the flag and protest incidents on Thursday and released without bail, according to court records.

Authorities arrested nearly 300 people at protests at Columbia University or City College on Tuesday, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

More than 40% — roughly 130 — of those detained at the New York City campuses were not tied to the schools, according to a source close to the investigation. But the breakdown is much lower for Columbia, specifically, with just 29% of those arrested being unaffiliated with the school, the source said.

It was unclear if the unaffiliated arrests were considered “outside agitators.”

My hypothesis: The people who run New York City want violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as possible. If I’m wrong, then please offer a better explanation for why they keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again and again and again.

The police in New York City are doing their job. The police want to protect innocent people from violent criminals. My criticism here is not aimed at the police.

But the judges and district attorneys are not doing their job.

Here is my hypothesis: The people who run New York City want violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as possible.

If I’m wrong, then please offer a better explanation for why they keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again and again and again.

Here are multiple examples of the leaders of New York City allowing violent serial criminals to hurt as many people as they want:

This report from NBC News is about the “knockout game.” Men are running around hitting women (total strangers) in the head.

NBC says that the judges and district attorneys keep releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again, so they can keep hurting as many women as they want.

The judges and district attorneys want these women to get hurt. That’s the only possible explanation for why they they keep releasing the same violent criminals again and again, and allow them to hurt as many women as they want.

NBC News / Today: “Growing number of women report being punched on NYC streets”

1:58 “He is a repeat offender, according to police. He has an extensive criminal record. He’s been arrested three times in the last six months for similar crimes.”

A woman named Dulce Pichardo had her teeth knocked out, her face fractured, and her mouth wired shut, because New York City refused to lock up a violent serial criminal named Franz Jeudy.

After he broke her face, they let him out without having to pay bail, because they want him to continue to brutally assault as many people as he wants.

Rashid Brimmage is a violent serial criminal.

He is “a registered sex offender with at least 100 arrests for charges ranging from assault, to resisting arrest and persistent sexual abuse.”

The reason that the judges and district attorneys in New York City have released him 103 is times because they want him to continue raping and assaulting as many people as possible.

New York City is knowingly and deliberately allowing a group of drug dealers to use a Burger King as their regular place of business.

The police were called 143 times since last year, but the city is allowing the drug dealers to do whatever they want.

Mayor Eric Adams visited the Burger King recently, and he brought a large group of police officers with him, because he knew how dangerous it would be.

But no one was arrested.

Adams gets police protection, while regular citizens get no protection.

This quote is from John Miller, CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst.

It shows just how much New York City is in favor of crime.

These are the criminals that New York City recently released without bail, after they assaulted police officers. These are some of the crimes that they committed before they assaulted the police.

John Miller, CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, said:

“These individuals, I went over their rap sheets yesterday, multiple charges, grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny.”

“This particular crew operated on mopeds and scooters. They were doing organized retail theft. They were doing snatches on the street, iPhones, iPads, clothing, so on and so forth. One of them that they are still seeking has ten charges on one day because he’s part of a pattern that’s been going on.”

“And I’m looking at the dates that their arrest started, which is probably close to when they got here. They’ve only been here a couple of months. So, what the detectives are telling me is they have crews here that operate in New York, do all their stealing, then go to Florida to spend the money and then come back. And I’m like, well, why don’t they just stay and steal in Florida? And they said, because there, you go to jail.”

CNN hosts stunned after law enforcement expert says illegal immigrants steal in New York, not Florida, because in Florida ‘you go to jail’

CNN hosts stunned after law enforcement expert says illegal immigrants steal in New York, not Florida, because in Florida ‘you go to jail’

“There you go to jail.”

https://twitter.com/TPostMillennial/status/1753459401501954340

https://twitter.com/EndWokeness/status/1752486216573038857

A law enforcement officer told CNN that illegal immigrants are deterred by Florida’s laws and do not look upon the state as a safe haven in which to commit crime sprees.

John Miller, Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst, told CNN that among the 175,000 illegal immigrants that have flooded into New York City in recent months, there is a “criminal element that looks at a different opportunity here. These individuals—I went over their rap sheets yesterday—multiple charges: grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny.”

These are the men Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg sought fit to release without bail.

“This particular crew,” Miller said, “operated on mopeds and scooters. They were doing organized retail theft, they were doing snatches on the street: iPhones, iPads, clothing, so on and so forth. One of them that they are still seeking has 10 charges on one day because he’s part of a pattern that’s been going on.”

“I’m looking at the dates when their arrests started,” Miller continued, “which is probably close to when they got here, they’ve only been here a couple of months. So, what the detectives are telling me is, they have crews here that are operating in New York, do all their stealing, then go to Florida to spend the money then come back.”

As to why “they don’t stay in Florida and and steal there,” Miller said officers told him it’s because “there you go to jail.”

The CNN host Erica Hill had nothing to say to that.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared that the illegal immigrants who beat up NYPD officers, were released without bail due to New York City’s soft-on-crime policies, then absconded to California using fake names, should be deported. In 2021, she spoke with compassionate glee about how welcoming the US, and New york, should be to illegal immigrants who flood the city.

Hochul announced $2.4 billion in the state’s new budget to provide more resources to illegal immigrants.

Two innocent people were stabbed in New York City because the district attorney and judges have compassion for a violent serial criminal named Steven Hutcherson (a.k.a. Esteban Esono-Asue) instead of having compassion for his victims

https://web.archive.org/web/20231227210204/https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/27/nyregion/grand-central-terminal-stabbing-charges.html/

Man Accused in Grand Central Stabbing Had Repeated Run-Ins With Police

Steven Hutcherson’s ex-girlfriend said he had repeatedly banged on her door, and she had reported his mental condition to the authorities.

By Chelsia Rose Marcius

December 27, 2023

The man who stabbed two teenage sisters in Grand Central Terminal on Christmas Day had encountered the police at least 15 times this year and recently was taken to a Bronx hospital for psychological evaluation, Police Department records show.

Manhattan prosecutors charged the man, Steven Hutcherson, 36, with attempted murder and assault as hate crimes on Tuesday after they said he used an anti-white slur before stabbing the girls, 16 and 14.

They were visiting from Paraguay and were sitting with their parents in a cafe. In the criminal complaint, he is identified as Esteban Esono-Asue, another name he uses.

The police records obtained by The New York Times indicate that Mr. Hutcherson’s mental health had declined in the weeks before the attack. The police received a call on Nov. 27 saying that Mr. Hutcherson was standing on a Bronx fire escape, shouting. Eight days later, the police received another call about Mr. Hutcherson, who officers said was acting erratically.

Mr. Hutcherson has been arrested at least two dozen times in New York City.

The records from this year date back to February. They include incidents where Mr. Hutcherson was either acting erratically or reported that he was a victim of a crime. They also include reports made by others who accused him of harassment, assault and, in one instance, a threat to kill a man.

His ex-girlfriend and her family were granted an order of protection against Mr. Hutcherson, who had showed up at the family’s East Harlem home several times banging on their apartment door, according to police records and his ex-girlfriend.

Mr. Hutcherson’s actions came amid a yearslong crisis in New York as the governmental safety net has failed to keep homeless, mentally ill people from harming others. City and state agencies have repeatedly missed chances to prevent violence and have been shielded by state laws that hide those failures.

Law enforcement officials had repeated contact with Mr. Hutcherson but did not find a way to take him off the street before the Christmas Day violence.

On Feb. 24, Mr. Hutcherson told officers someone had pulled a knife on him while he was buying food in a Bronx store.

A month later, he said five people had pummeled him in the head. At least one person had bit his hand, he said.

The next day, March 11, he reported a domestic incident at the apartment belonging to the mother of Charisma Knight, his ex-girlfriend. It was the first of at least eight reports between March and Dec. 1 at the building on Paladino Avenue near East 124th Street in East Harlem.

During that time, Mr. Hutcherson banged on the ex-girlfriend’s door, where her mother also lives, the records show. Her mother reported the incident, and an order of protection was granted against Mr. Hutcherson.

Still, he persisted, according to police records. Mr. Hutcherson showed up again on Thanksgiving Day, knocking on their door. He later approached his ex-girlfriend in the lobby and tried to give her soup and flowers.

Ms. Knight, 37, said she had begun dating Mr. Hutcherson in July 2021, and they split up after several months because he was possessive and controlling, she said. They got back together before breaking up in November 2022.

She said she was relieved that Mr. Hutcherson was in jail. But she also felt authorities had not done enough to heed her warnings. She said she repeatedly told the police that Mr. Hutcherson had serious mental health issues and had continued to violate the order of protection.

Ms. Knight said that if the police had taken her reports seriously, “then the girls would have been protected. They wouldn’t have had to go through that because he would have been incarcerated or in a mental institution, where he’s actually getting the help that he needs until he’s able to be released to society.”

She added: “I’m scared for my life because I don’t know what state of mind he’s going to be in at that moment.”

There were other incidents that did not involve Ms. Knight, and they had occurred with increasing frequency in recent months, the records show. In September, Mr. Hutcherson reported that he was attacked on a platform of the 176th Street subway station in the Bronx, according to the police records. He was taken to a hospital but refused to cooperate with officers.

A month later, on Nov. 7, a man told the police Mr. Hutcherson had hit him on the right side of the head near the Longwood Avenue train station in the Bronx. On the same day, five blocks away, another man reported that Mr. Hutcherson threatened his life. The police found a knife in the pocket of Mr. Hutcherson’s sweatshirt and charged him with possession of a weapon.

Three weeks later, the police received the Nov. 27 call about Mr. Hutcherson on the fire escape. When officers asked him to come down, he refused and continued to scream. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx for evaluation.

On Christmas Day, Mr. Hutcherson entered a restaurant, Tartinery, at Grand Central and an employee asked him to leave, according to the criminal complaint. Mr. Hutcherson, who is Black, then asked a second employee to seat him.

“I don’t want to sit with the Black people,” he said, according to the complaint. “I want to sit with the crackers.”

Shortly after he was seated and given water, the complaint says, he stood, approached a table where a family that appeared to be white was sitting, pulled a knife and stabbed one of the girls in the back.

As the family tried to escape, he stabbed the second girl in the leg, according to the complaint. Neither injury was life-threatening, and the girls were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where the older sister was treated for a collapsed lung, according to officials and the complaint.

As someone who does not live in New York City, I support Alvin Bragg’s decision not to prosecute theft

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

April 21, 2023

This article from Fox News is called, Alvin Bragg promises not to prosecute theft to establish ‘racial equity’ balance: ‘Crime of poverty’.

I support the right of the 50 states and their respective cities to engage in different kinds of experiments, including ones that I think are ridiculous. I’m in favor of this particular one, because it’s what the voters wanted, and because I don’t live in this city.

I’m going to have a lot of fun watching all those YouTube videos of criminals in New York City who are smart enough to realize that they will never be prosecuted. How can I even blame them, when the person in charge of running the city is telling them that it’s OK for them to do what they are doing? The people of New York City are about to get exactly what they voted for, and I am going to have a lot of fun watching it happen.

NYC garage worker charged with attempted murder after shooting armed thief

By Landon Mion

April 2, 2023

A New York City parking garage attendant was hit with an attempted murder charge after confronting an armed thief and wrestling the gun away before opening fire on the suspect.

Moussa Diarra, 57, is also charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the incident that occurred at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The attendant had observed a man looking into cars on the second floor of the West 31st Street garage in Manhattan, police said, according to the New York Post. Diarra suspected the man was stealing, so he brought him outside and questioned him about what was inside his bag.

The man then pulled a gun on Diarra, who attempted to grab the firearm. The gun was fired, leaving Diarra with a shot to the stomach and grazed in the ear by a bullet.

Diarra proceeded to turn the firearm on the potential thief and shot him in the chest.

The alleged thief, 59-year-old Charles Rhodie, was also charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He also faces a burglary charge, police said.

Diarra and Rhodie were transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition after Saturday’s incident at the parking garage.

The charges against Diarra for defending himself against an attacker come after a similar incident last year. In July, Manhattan bodega clerk Jose Alba was charged with murder after a confrontation in the store with an angry customer who attacked him behind his counter. Alba stabbed and killed the attacker in self-defense but found himself at the Rikers Island jail charged with murder.

Alba spent six days in jail until District Attorney Alvin Bragg dropped the murder charge amid intense public pressure.

New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg just offered a 6 month plea deal to a violent criminal who said, “I would do it again.” This is instead of a 7 year sentence if he was actually convicted. Bragg is pro-violent crime. Shame on him!

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg offers sweetheart plea deal to suspect in brutal anti-Semitic attack

By Elizabeth Rosner and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon

January 12, 2023

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office is offering a sweetheart plea deal to a suspect charged in the brutal anti-Semitic beating of a Jewish man in Midtown, prosecutors confirmed.

Waseem Awawdeh — who defiantly said “I would do it again” after his arrest in the cowardly assault on Joseph Borgen near a pro-Israel rally — has received a six-month plea deal offer from the controversial prosecutor.

That would be a slap on the wrist compared to the up to seven years he would face if convicted of the charges, including attempted assault as a hate crime, at trial.

Awawdeh, 24, was part of a gang of brutes busted in the May 20, 2021 attack on Borgen, who was wearing a yarmulke as he walked to a pro-Israel rally near Broadway and West 49th Street.

Borgen, an Upper East Side accountant, said his attackers called him a “dirty Jew” and yelled “F–k Israel, Hamas is going to kill all of you” as they pummeled him.

“I felt a liquid being poured on my face, and at first I thought I was getting urinated on,” Borgen told The Post at the time.

“But it turned out I was getting Maced and pepper-sprayed,” he said. “My face was on fire. That pain was worse than the concussion and all the other stuff that followed.”

Awawdeh, of Brooklyn, and three Staten Island men, Mahmoud Musa, Faisal Elezzi and Mohammed Othman, were all hit with charges over the attack, including assault as a hate crime and gang assault, following their arrests.

At his arraignment, prosecutors said Awawdeh told jailers he had no regrets.

“If I could do it again, I would do it again,” he said. “I have no problem doing it again.”

He has remained free on $10,000 bail while the case is pending.

Awawdeh’s lawyer, Peter Marc Frankel, confirmed the DA’s plea deal offer, which was first reported by the New York Sun.

“The six-month plea deal has been offered at this point,” Frankel told The Post on Thursday. “No decisions have been made by [my] client on what to do. We have been in contact with the DA for over a year about this case.

“It’s complicated,” he said. “This is not the potential outcome I was looking for but this is their current position. I am going to discuss this with my client.”

A spokesperson for Bragg’s office defended the deal Thursday, claiming Awawdeh did not initiate the attack but rather was the sixth person to join and left before it was over.

The spokesperson noted that Awawdeh is charged with beating the victim with his crutch, but that he did not pepper-spray, punch or kick Borgen and that he has no prior convictions.

“Anti-Semitic hate has no place in Manhattan and the office is requiring felony hate crime pleas and incarceration for three men charged in connection to this despicable act,” Emily Tuttle said in a statement.

“Our Hate Crimes Unit made these appropriately strong recommendations following a thorough investigation that illuminated facts, evidence and varying levels of culpability among this group of individuals.”

Among the other accused attackers, Othman and Musa — who both face class C felonies — have not been offered plea deals, the rep said, while Elezzi has been offered one in his misdemeanor case. All appear to have pleaded not guilty.

The incident came amid high tensions between Jews and Palestinians, with several clashes in New York City during protests and demonstrations.

“It really is outrageous,” former state Assemblyman Dov Hikind said on Thursday. “What do you have to do? Kill a Jew to get justice? It seems like Jewish blood is cheap, especially with the Manhattan DA, a guy who clearly has greater pity for the perpetrator than the victim of the crime.”

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is pro-rape

NBC News just reported the following:

“A New York man is accused of sexually assaulting five people in the Bronx a week before he was going to be sentenced to 30 days in jail as part of a plea deal in a separate rape case.”

“Justin Washington was out on bail when he allegedly assaulted four women and a man in a string of attacks on Sept. 15, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News.”

Alvin Bragg is the Manhattan District Attorney.

He thinks a rapist should only get 30 days in jail.

And he let that rapist out on bail before serving the 30 day sentence.

And while out on bail, that rapist raped five other people.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is pro-rape.

That is the only possible explanation for what he just did.

N.Y. man accused of sexually assaulting 5 people a week before he was scheduled to be sentenced in prior rape

Justin Washington was going to be sentenced Wednesday in Manhattan after he agreed to a plea deal that would have put him in jail for 30 days.

By Minyvonne Burke

A New York man is accused of sexually assaulting five people in the Bronx a week before he was going to be sentenced to 30 days in jail as part of a plea deal in a separate rape case.

Justin Washington was out on bail when he allegedly assaulted four women and a man in a string of attacks on Sept. 15, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News.

Washington, 25, was due in a Manhattan court on Wednesday to be sentenced in connection with a Feb. 22 incident involving his relative. The New York Post was first to report the news.

In the Bronx case, Washington allegedly broke into a man’s apartment through an open window around 8:20 a.m. The man told police that he was sleeping in his bedroom and woke up to Washington touching his buttocks under his underwear, according to the criminal complaint. Washington asked the man, “Can I get a dollar, bro,” it states.

The man said he offered Washington a dollar but Washington refused while stating, “nevermind, you’re not understanding.” Washington fled through the window as the man said he called 911, the document says.

About 40 minutes later, Washington allegedly went to the apartment of a woman who said she was home with her 9-month-old son. The complaint says that Washington started banging on her closed window. The woman said she called 911 and then opened the curtains to see Washington masturbating, according to the complaint.

Washington ran away and allegedly broke into the apartment of another woman, the complaint states. The woman told police that she heard a loud noise and when she went to investigate, she saw Washington standing in her living room masturbating, the document says.

The woman said Washington allegedly pushed her down on her bed, pulled her nightgown up, climbed on top of her and started masturbating, according to the complaint. The woman said she fought off Washington by biting his hand and hitting him in the head with a hammer. According to the complaint, the woman said Washington asked, “Can I get a dollar?”

Washington again allegedly fled. The complaint alleges that a fourth victim, a woman, told police that she was in the shower and saw a man’s hand reach through her bathroom window and grab her underwear. The woman said she looked out the window and allegedly saw Washington masturbating before he ran off.

The fifth incident occurred around 10 a.m. and involved Washington allegedly assaulting a transient woman who was laying in the lobby of an apartment building. The complaint says that security footage showed Washington entering the building, pulling the woman’s pants down and masturbating.

Manhattan DA scraps $20K bail of Florida woman held for pepper-spraying Asians, results in release

By Carl Samson

The Florida woman charged with hate crimes for pepper-spraying a group of Asian women in New York City last month will reportedly be released from Rikers Island after her bail was scrapped.

Madeline Barker, 47, of Florida’s Merritt Island, was arrested nearly a week after the alleged incident at the intersection of 14th Street and Ninth Avenue in Chelsea on June 11.

One of the alleged victims, Nicole, told NextShark that it all started when she and her friends, who were walking around the area, stopped to rest near a woman in pink, who then allegedly accused them of “trying to harass me.”

Nicole said the woman told them “Go back to the country you came from” and “You don’t belong here.”

Videos taken with cell phones during the incident show the woman in question holding what appears to be pepper spray. She seemingly threatens those around her, who in turn try to maintain their distance.

Barker, who has been detained since June 17, admitted to being the woman involved in the incident. She was later indicted on eight counts of assault in the third degree as a hate crime, as well as four counts of aggravated harassment in the second degree, which is a misdemeanor hate crime.

However, she is now expected to be freed after being held on a $20,000 bail. On Wednesday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michele Rodney approved a new bail application proposed by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s Office and Barker’s defense attorneys, according to the New York Post.

Barker will reportedly be placed under The Women’s Project (TWP), a community that seeks to permanently decrease the number of women in city jails and state prisons. According to its website, TWP is part of a larger partnership between nonprofits Wildcat and The Fedcap Group, public defenders and district attorney offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

While on release, Barker will be under strict electronic monitoring. She will also receive “supportive housing so that her location will be known, regular check-ins and accompaniment to each court appearance to ensure her return to court,” according to Bragg’s office.

It is unclear whether Barker has already been released. While she admitted to being involved in the incident, she pleaded not guilty and will return to court on Oct. 27.

New York City prosecutor defends going easy on teen who brutally attacked cop

By Rebecca Rosenberg

July 28, 2022

New York City prosecutor Alvin Bragg defended his office’s decision to go easy on a 16-year-old caught on video viciously assaulting a cop who confronted him for not paying the subway fare – the teen’s third felony arrest in less than four months.

The teen, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was charged with second-degree assault Saturday after he was captured on a 54-second clip throwing more than 20 punches at an NYPD officer, slamming him into a metal gate and putting him in a chokehold at a subway station in Harlem.

At his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, prosecutors recommended the teen’s release without bail and diversion to family court – where he’ll be tried as a child and face rehabilitation rather than prison.

Once a case is moved to family court, it is handled by a separate city department, and the Manhattan DA no longer has any jurisdiction over the matter.

Just three days earlier, the same troubled teen was arrested and released without bail for allegedly beating and robbing a stranger near Madison Avenue on June 21 when he was 15 – a case that Bragg’s office is prosecuting.

“Our system must respond to children as children,” Bragg spokeswoman Emily Tuttle said in a statement.

“Violence against our police officers is unacceptable, and given his age at the time of arrest, we consented to send the second case to family court as soon as possible, where he would receive the age-appropriate interventions and supports he needs while being held accountable,” the statement continued.

The Manhattan DA was not aware of the teen’s April 12 arrest for possessing a .40 caliber handgun and a crossbow in Brooklyn – a separate jurisdiction, a source told Fox News Digital. Due to his age, the record is sealed.

Under the Raise the Age statute, part of the state’s sweeping criminal justice reforms, 16-and 17-year-olds charged with misdemeanors and many nonviolent felonies are automatically prosecuted in family court.

But the district attorney can lobby to keep a case in criminal court if the crime involves significant physical injury, the display of a firearm, a sexual offense or “extraordinary circumstances.”

Former Manhattan prosecutor, who is now a criminal defense lawyer, Mark Bederow told Fox News Digital that this teen’s conduct certainly rose to “extraordinary circumstances.”

“The DA clearly knew that they were prosecuting the same offender for a violent robbery,” he said. “If that is not an extraordinary circumstance, what is? If violence against police officers is unacceptable, why ignore the violent robbery arrest. This isn’t accountability. This is lunacy.”

Bragg, the most progressive DA in the five boroughs, has come under fire since he took office in January for his liberal criminal justice policies amid a crime surge in New York City.

His office has stopped prosecuting many low level crimes, routinely downgrades felony charges and has advocated for the limited use of cash bail.

Most recently, Bragg was widely criticized for prosecuting a bodega worker for murder after he stabbed a menacing customer in self-defense. Under mounting pressure from the public, Bragg dismissed the case.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg charged a bodega worker with murder when he clearly acted in self defense.

51-year-old Jose Alba stabbed his attacker several times in self-defense and now he’s at Rikers Island jail facing a murder charge.

Alba fatally stabbed Austin Simon, 35, a career criminal who violently attacked him behind the counter last Friday night.

According to reports, Austin Simon’s girlfriend got into an argument with Alba after her EBT card was declined when she tried to purchase a bag of chips.

The disgruntled woman then left the bodega, ran home and returned with her boyfriend – and that’s when the confrontation escalated.

According to Alba’s defense lawyer, the 32-year-old woman took a knife out of her purse and stabbed the bodega worker in the shoulder, the New York Post reported.

She is not facing charges for stabbing Jose Alba – But Jose Alba is facing a second-degree murder charge for fatally stabbing Austin Simon – AFTER the assailants stabbed him and violently attacked him.

Alba’s family says he was in fear for his life and acted in self-defense.
