Walmart Set to Close All Stores in Portland amid Record-Breaking Retail Theft

By Ari Blaff

March 4, 2023

Walmart announced its plan to close its final two locations in Portland, Ore., at the end of March following underwhelming financial results.

“We have nearly 5,000 stores across the U.S. and unfortunately some do not meet our financial expectations,” the corporation said in a statement according to KPTV. “While our underlying business is strong, these specific stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped.”

The closures, which will result in nearly 600 employees being laid off, come after a statement by Walmart CEO Doug McMillion in December 2022 noting that record-breaking retail theft had undercut the company’s economic performance of late.

“Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been,” McMillon told CNBC. Prices “will be higher and/or stores will close,” the executive added if Oregon authorities failed to address rampant shoplifting.

Companies shuttering stores in Portland has become increasingly common. Last year a clothing store, Raind PDX, shut down operations with the company specifically citing the cost of doing business in the wake of historic retail theft.

“Small businesses (and large) cannot sustain doing business, in our city’s current state. We have no protection, or recourse, against the criminal behavior that goes unpunished,” a letter posted on the company’s store read. “Our city is in peril.”

In a similar vein, Nike and Cracker Barrel locations closed in 2022 with companies citing similar reasons.

“We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions. Our focus right now is taking care of our associates during this transition and working with our customers to transition their pharmacy, and other, shopping needs to nearby stores,” a spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

In late February, Walmart announced a series of other closures across the United States including in Florida, Illinois, Arkansas, and Wisconsin.

ChatGPT is a chat bot. You can read about it at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChatGPT

I asked ChatGPT the following question: “Why do protestors burn down their own neighborhoods?”

Here’s how it answered:

It is important to note that not all protests involve the burning of buildings or destruction of property. However, in some cases, protesters may engage in acts of vandalism or destruction of property as a way to express their frustration or anger, or to disrupt the normal functioning of a community or society. This type of behavior is often referred to as “violent protest.”

It is difficult to generalize about the motivations of people who engage in violent protest, as there are many factors that can contribute to this type of behavior. However, some common reasons that people may participate in violent protest include a sense of desperation or hopelessness, a desire for immediate change or action, and a feeling of being ignored or marginalized by those in positions of power. In some cases, outside agitators or criminal elements may also be involved in inciting or perpetrating violence during protests.

Regardless of the motivations behind it, the burning of buildings or destruction of property can have serious and long-lasting consequences for a community, including economic damage, loss of jobs, and harm to individuals and families. It is important for people to find peaceful and constructive ways to express their grievances and work towards positive change.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot complained about food deserts in her city, but she was afraid to point out their cause

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot recently complained about the lack of grocery stores in certain Chicago neighborhoods.

But she was afraid to point out the cause.

I’m not afraid to point it out.

Here are some news articles that were published after the George Floyd riots:

NPR Chicago affiliate WBEZ: “In Chicago’s Poorest Areas, Recovery May Be Long, If It Comes At All”

It’s really a shame that Lightfoot is such a coward.

Just yesterday, I wrote this other blog post about crime in Chicago. It’s called, “The pro-crime, bleeding heart liberals kept releasing violent serial criminal Pherris Harrington, 26, of Chicago, so he could continue to commit more violent crimes. The bleeding heart liberals got exactly what they were hoping for.”

Every city gets exactly as much crime as it’s willing to tolerate.

BLM Rioter Who Murdered Retired St. Louis Police Captain Sentenced to Life in Prison without Parole

By Brittany Bernstein

October 5, 2022

David Dorn

The 26-year-old man convicted of killing retired St. Louis Police Captain David Dorn was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Wednesday.

Stephan Cannon’s sentencing comes after a jury convicted him in July of fatally shooting Dorn in June 2020. The 77-year-old was responding to a burglary alarm at a friend’s pawn shop during a night of Black Lives Matter rioting when Cannon shot him.

Cannon was convicted in July on all of felony charges he faced, including first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, stealing $750 or more, unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of armed criminal action.

Dorn’s widow, Ann Wood-Dorn, has said her husband would regularly respond when Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry’s burglar alarm was triggered. On the night of his death – June 2, 2020 – Dorn was defending the shop from looters around 2:30 a.m. when he was fatally shot.

Cannon was one of the robbers Dorn confronted before he was murdered.

His death was live-streamed on Facebook Live. During the 13-minute-long video that circulated online, a young man can be heard saying, “Oh my God, cuz … They just killed this old man at the pawn shop over some TVs … c’mon, man, that’s somebody’s granddaddy.”

Attorney Marvin Teer said Cannon fired ten shots at Dorn as he arrived at the scene and fired off warning shots to stop the looters, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Public defender Brian Horneyer argued during the trial that police had “tunnel vision” in accusing Cannon of the crime and suggested detectives relied on co-defendant Mark Jackson as their main witness despite Jackson being “a man who lies as easily as he breathes.”

Cannon continued to maintain his innocence during the sentencing hearing on Wednesday, KSDK reported.

Wood-Dorn also spoke during the hearing, saying that her husband “became a victim of the very thing he fought against.”

Dorn’s son Brian Powell told Cannon: “I hope your eyes are woke. You still have time to get everything together and make amends with your maker.”

Then-St. Louis police Chief John Hayden previously described the night of Dorn’s death as “mayhem.”

Four police officers were shot, some 55 businesses were attacked, and a convenience store was set on fire. It was just one of countless nights of rioting that gripped nearly every major American city after George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer.

Dorn, an African-American, retired from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in 2007 after 38 years of service. He became Chief of Police for the Moline Acres Police Department the next year.

On the first anniversary of the officer’s death, St. Louis County Councilman Tim Fitch told National Review he remembers Dorn as a “great friend” and “wonderful law enforcement officer.”

“He’s very much missed and the night that he was taken from our community was a horrible evening for everyone in St. Louis,” Fitch said. He added that the violent evening of unrest was “really fed by the defund the police crowd which really whipped up a lot of protests in the St. Louis area that ultimately led to Captain Dorn’s death.”

Minneapolis neighborhoods face food desert after looting closes multiple stores

Minneapolis neighborhoods face food desert after looting closes multiple stores

By John Ewoldt

June 2, 2020

With Cub, Target, two Aldi stores and many small markets damaged by rioting over the past week, Longfellow and about eight other neighborhoods have nearly become a food desert.

“I consider the loss of these businesses devastating,” said Melanie Majors, executive director of the Longfellow Community Council. “Besides just the food, there’s a lack of retail for diapers, formula, household goods, even clothing.”

Many residents of the area shop lower-priced stores such as Aldi or dollar stores. Two of those dollar stores — including Family Dollar on Lake Street — were destroyed in last week’s looting and violence that arose after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis police custody.

One Aldi store on E. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis reopened Monday after power was restored to it. The frozen foods section had been cleared out due to the outage that started late last week, but shelves were being restocked Monday.

Shashana Craft of Maple Grove purchased groceries there Monday for Headway Emotional Health Services, where she works with Indigenous families.

“I’ve never seen the shelves this empty,” she said. “If people can’t get to their grocery store, they should check with churches or support groups offering free food and groceries.”

Majors said a few places were offering free food and supplies: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church near 31st Street and Minnehaha Avenue; Heart of the Beast Theatre at S. 15th Avenue and E. Lake; and Sanford Middle School at E. 35th Street and S. 42nd Avenue.

Amplifying the problem over the weekend and again on Monday was the fact that Metro Transit was not operating buses or trains. Public transportation will again be shut down on Tuesday.

Sylvester Hudson walked about 40 minutes from Fort Snelling Apartments to the Cub Foods at E. 46th Street and Hiawatha Avenue.

It is the only supermarket left in the Longfellow neighborhood along the light-rail line after four other supermarkets closed because of destruction during the protests.

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to catch a cab, so I’ll probably have to walk,” said Hudson, 70, who brought a two-wheeled cart for grocery transport, as he finished shopping at Cub Foods. “This is the only store left open in the neighborhood that I can walk to.”

Area residents with a vehicle could find open supermarkets nearby at Longfellow Market, S. 38th Avenue and E. Lake, and Lunds & Byerlys in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood.

Although shorter on Monday, there were lines out the door at several of the city markets on Sunday, similar to when Gov. Tim Walz first issued the stay-at-home order to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Business has been up more than 60% at Longfellow Market since the other stores were forced to close, according to manager Terry Mahowald.

“We never planned to be this busy,” he said. “Everyone’s stressed. This is certainly not the way we wanted to increase traffic.”

He plans to add more lower-priced, generic items to help keep prices reasonable for shoppers at the natural and organic grocery.

Home delivery through Shipt or Instacart isn’t an option for the neighborhoods, either.

Delivery services usually pick from stores nearby. With four of them closed, other arrangements are being made.

Target owns Shipt and is working on arrangements to fill delivery orders through other Targets, a spokeswoman said. The Minneapolis-based retailer also has pledged to rebuild the Lake Street store, hopefully by the end of the year.

Mahowald thanked neighborhood volunteers for saving the Longfellow Market.

“We’ve had nearly 25 people from the neighborhood guarding it every night since Tuesday,” he said.

San Francisco keeps making it easier and easier for shoplifters to destroy businesses

Looters ransack San Francisco Neiman Marcus in broad daylight: Video

By Jake Dima

July 6, 2021

Looters were captured on video Monday ransacking a Neiman Marcus in San Francisco as thefts continue to plague businesses in the area.

At least nine suspects smashed display cases, snatched handbags, and jetted out of the building before law enforcement arrived to the scene at about 6 p.m., according to footage. The suspects were seen running out of the store with their hands full of merchandise before entering an apparent getaway car that sped off down a busy intersection.

A man was caught on video in June filling a garbage bag with what appeared to be hair products before leaving the drugstore on his bicycle. A security guard, who was recording the incident, tried to grab the individual, though he eluded custody.

Walgreens shuttered 17 of its stores in the San Francisco area in the past five years, and the company said thefts in the area are four times more likely than anywhere else in the country as executives budgeted 35 times more for security personnel to guard the chains.

Target executives in the city also decided to limit business hours in response to an uptick in larceny.

Shoppers can no longer buy products in the chains after 6 p.m. after once being permitted to shop until 10 p.m.

“For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores,” a spokesperson for Target said at the time.

San Francisco Police Lt. Tracy McCray faulted District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s “criminals first agenda” for the uptick in theft incidents.

“What happened in that Walgreens has been going on in the city for quite a while,” she said in June. “I’m used to it. I mean, we could have a greatest hits compilation of people just walking in and cleaning out the store shelves and security guards, the people who work there, just standing by helplessly because they can’t do anything.”

“The ‘criminals first’ agenda from the district attorney [is to blame] because he’s not prosecuting any of those crimes as felonies [or] as a commercial burglary. [Criminals realize,] ‘This is gonna get slapped down to a misdemeanor,'” she continued.

Thefts under $950 are considered a misdemeanor in McCray’s area of operation, she added, and suspected criminals are often issued citations instead of spending time in jail ahead of their court date. In some cases, she said, thieves will have their case thrown out if they skip their court appearances.

Neither the San Francisco Police Department nor Neiman Marcus immediately responded to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.

After defending massive numbers of left wing riots for much of 2020, the hypocritical left is now upset about one right wing riot in 2021

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

February 11, 2021

In my opinion, left wing criminals and right wing criminals should be held to the same standard.

In my opinion, anyone, whether they are on the left or on the right, who smashes windows, commits arson, damages or destroys someone else’s property, commits assault, commits murder, or commits insurrection, should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

But that’s not how those on the left feel.

Those on the left have a huge double standard when it comes to wanting to prosecute people who commit these kinds of crimes.

For about half of last year, left wing rioters burned down city after city, destroyed many small businesses, turned neighborhoods into food deserts, murdered more than a dozen people, caused half a billion dollars of damage in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and declared that part of Seattle was an autonomous zone that was independent from the rest of the country. The mayors of these cities allowed, praised, and even encouraged many of these illegal activities. Charges against many rioters were dropped. Many other rioters had their bail paid for by left wing supporters, including the current Vice-President of the U.S.

But now that one right wing riot happens, where far less damage was caused, and far fewer people were murdered, the left is all of a sudden acting like they think rioting is now a bad thing.

This hypocrisy sucks.

Here are some examples, with links to sources:

Kamala Harris tweeted support for a bail fund, but the money didn’t just assist protesters

One defendant, Jaleel Stallings, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at police during protests on May 30, county records show. MFF paid $75,000 in cash to get Stallings out of jail, according to MFF interim director Greg Lewin.

MFF also paid $750 toward a bond for Chylen Evans, who was charged with looting a liquor store, clothing store and mobile store.

On Aug. 10, Minneapolis television station KMSP aired a report documenting how, after receiving the torrent of donations, MFF had bailed out a number of people charged with violent crimes, including posting $100,000 for a woman accused of killing a friend and $350,000 for a twice-convicted rapist charged with kidnapping, assault and sexual assault in two separate cases.

After Lyden’s report aired, Lionel Timms, a man whom MFF bailed out on an assault charge in July, was charged with committing third-degree assault on Aug. 14, leaving the victim with a traumatic brain injury and a fractured skull.

The result of Harris and other social justice warriors helping these violent and dangerous criminals has been absolutely disastrous to the regular, law-abiding people who live in Minnesota.

Insurance experts estimated that the damage caused by Black Lives Matter protestors in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region during 2020 could exceed $500 million.

This article about the Black Lives Matter protestors in Minneapolis is called, “Neighborhoods where stores were destroyed become food deserts overnight.”

As a high ranking government official who is protected by armed guards, Kamala Harris doesn’t have to worry about getting hurt by these kinds of criminals.

And as a person who lives in a safe neighborhood with easy access to grocery stores, she doesn’t have to worry about how to get food from the store to her home.

But for a lot of the regular, law-abiding people who live in Minneapolis, that’s not the case.

Because of the kinds of violent and dangerous criminals that Kamala Harris supports, many of the regular, law abiding people who live in Minneapolis no longer have easy access to get groceries or prescription drugs.

And now Kamala Harris is Vice President.

I wonder what she has in store for the rest of the country.

I believe that black lives matter. But here are 50 reasons why I do not support the organization that calls itself “Black Lives Matter.”

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

September 12, 2020

I believe that black lives matter. But here are 50 reasons why I do not support the organization that calls itself “Black Lives Matter.”

1) In this video, Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors says, “We are trained Marxists”

Black Lives Matter was founded by three people: Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi.

In this video, Cullors says, “We are trained Marxists.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EvOyW5vIdg

The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels says:

“In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property.”

Marxism is such a horrible system that even the people who claim to be in favor of Marxism never actually move to Marxist countries.

On the contrary, all immigration related to Marxist countries is away from Marxist countries, and never into them.

Every year, thousands of Cubans risk their lives on homemade rafts to leave the country.

Meanwhile, none of the U.S. college professors, celebrities, or social justice warriors who praise Cuba ever actually moves there.

When the Berlin Wall came down, all of the immigration was from east to west, not the other way around.

In the U.S., none of the college professors, celebrities, social justice warriors, or other people who claim to be in favor of communism, ever actually moves to a communist country.

No one who was born in South Korea ever moves to North Korea. But people who were born in North Korea risk getting shot and killed by armed border guards while trying to escape to South Korea.

Marxists are so evil that they have actually murdered far, far more innocent civilians than the Nazis did.

Marxism is an absolutely despicable and evil ideology.

Pictures Show Young Rittenhouse Shot At Least Two BLM Rioters in Self Defense, One Rioter Was Carrying a Gun and Is a Convicted Felon

By Joe Hoft

August 26, 2020

On Tuesday night two people were killed in the continued violence in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  It appears they were killed by the same shooter, a 17-year-old by the name of Kyle Rittenhouse.  Another individual shot by Rittenhouse appears to have been carrying a handgun.

A new video slowed down shows a man hitting the accused Rittenhouse with a skateboard after Rittenhouse fell down running from what perhaps was his first episode with a gun.

It may be the last thing the skateboard carrier ever did. It appears this man was shot right after attacking the young Rittenhouse with a skateboard. After that he fell to the ground and didn’t move.

https://twitter.com/jackmurphylive/status/1298629916041400320

As the skateboard carrier was hitting and moving past Rittenhouse another man runs up with holding a gun. Rittenhouse shoots the skateboard carrier and then he shoots the handgun carrier in the arm. The skateboard carrier doesn’t move but the handgun carrier holds his arm.

The man shot in the arm is reportedly a man by the name of Gaige Grosskreutz.  He is connected to the far left group “People’s Revolution Movement.”

MSN reported:

The victim who survived the fatal shooting in Kenosha on Tuesday night has been identified as Gaige Grosskreutz.

Grosskreutz was in Kenosha with the Milwaukee-based social justice reform group the People’s Revolution Movement, a spokeswoman for the group said Wednesday.

Bethany Crevensten said Grosskreutz was recovering in a hospital but declined to provide any other information about him.

Posts by friends on social media said he had undergone surgery.

Crevensten said the group has been protesting for 90 days.

Grosskreutz was carrying a gun when he was shot. He pulled out a gun from his pants and then his arm is nearly blown off by Rittenhouse.

It is being reported that Grosskreutz may be a felon and if so, he was illegally carrying a gun.

Based on the above, young Rittenhouse fired at two or more men in self defense.  One of these BLM rioters was carrying a gun.  If he was a felon he was illegally carrying a gun.

Video from Kenosha, Wisconsin, shows a police officer shooting a black man in the back seven times. Riots ensue. And as is always the case when this kind of thing happens, the city’s mayor is a Democrat.

This video from Kenosha, Wisconsin, shows a police officer shooting a black man in the back seven times:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0DSTV7XT1E

Soon afterward, the New York Times reported:

Around Kenosha on Monday morning, dump trucks that had been set ablaze outside the county courthouse were still sending an acrid smell through the air. Stunned shop owners swept up glass that had been smashed overnight and boarded up their storefronts with sheets of plywood.

Three months ago, I made this blog post, where I said the following:

Blue Collar Logic channel at YouTube: “Name me a riot in recent decades that has broken out in a Republican controlled town”

I recommend watching this entire 7 minute video.

My favorite part is at 3:45, when he says:

“Name me a riot in recent decades that has broken out in a Republican controlled town.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBugfEBbEC0

So I decided to look up the political affiliation of the mayor of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

And sure enough, the mayor of that city, John Antaramian, is a Democrat.

Black Lives Matter holds rally in Chicago to support those arrested after looting, unrest

“That is reparations,” a BLM organizer said. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance”

By David Aaro

August 11, 2020

Black Lives Matter members in Chicago held a rally on Monday to support the more than 100 arrested last night following widespread looting and rioting that caused at least $60 million in property damage and saw 13 police officers injured, according to a report.

The rally was organized by Black Lives Matter Chicago and was held at a police station in the South Loop where organizers say individuals are currently being held in custody. At least one organizer called the looting tantamount to “reparations.”

“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” said Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, according to NBC Chicago. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

“That is reparations,” Atkins continued. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.”

The unrest was prompted by a social media post urging people to converge on Chicago’s business district after police shot a man on the South Side around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers had responded to a call about a man with a gun in the Englewood neighborhood. While being pursued by police, the man, who was on foot, “turned and fired shots” at officers before being struck himself and taken to a local hospital, Deputy Chief Delonda Tally told Fox 32 Chicago.

Latrell Allen, 20, was charged with attempted murder Monday after firing on officers, according to Chicago police. A video posted on Facebook around 6:30 p.m. falsely claimed that officers had shot and killed a 15-year-old boy.

The shooting prompted hundreds of people to descend on downtown Chicago early Monday with vandals smashing the windows of dozens of businesses and making off with merchandise, cash machines and anything else they could carry, police said.

“This was not an organized protest. Rather, this was an incident of pure criminality,” Police Superintendent David Brown told reporters. “This was an act of violence against our police officers and against our city.”

BLM organizers criticized police reports surrounding the shooting, noting that none of the officers involved had body cameras, which investigators confirmed, according to NBC Chicago.

Black Lives Matter Chicago issued a statement obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times that read, “The mayor clearly has not learned anything since May, and she would be wise to understand that the people will keep rising up until the [Chicago Police Department] is abolished and our Black communities are fully invested in,” the group said in a statement.

“Police say a lot of things,” Atkins added. “Even though the Department of Justice said with the consent decree they are no longer allowed to chase people, they decided they were going to chase, and they shot this young man multiple times.”

In Washington D.C., left wing protestors can burn, vandalize, and loot without getting arrested. Meanwhile, right wing protestors were arrested for writing on a public sidewalk with chalk.

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

August 3, 2020

According to this article from the Washington Post, this is what left wing protestors did in Washington D.C. without getting arrested:

Night of destruction across D.C.

June 1, 2020

American flags and parked cars and buildings were lit ablaze — including St. John’s Church, a historic landmark opened in 1816 and attended by every president since James Madison. Firefighters quickly extinguished the basement fire, which police said was intentionally set…

Downtown, baseball bats bashed through windows at coffee shops, banks and one office building after another. Vandals and looters roamed throughout the city, scrawling graffiti and targeting dozens of businesses…

Some hit a liquor store near Foggy Bottom, where young men, both white and black, snatched handles of alcohol and took swigs while others ran off with all they could carry. In Shaw, a Giant grocery store — with employees still inside — was broken into, as was a Sephora in Gallery Place. On H Street NE, looters ransacked a CVS. In Georgetown, the Nike store’s boarded-up doors were broken down and its merchandise plundered. In Friendship Heights and Tenleytown, five miles from the White House, other groups hit a Target and smashed open Rodman’s, a beloved drugstore, specialty grocer and housewares shop — all in one.

Near 15th and H streets, another group set fire to a sandwich shop… The smell of fire hung heavy in the air, and shattered glass speckled the pavement. Gone were the windows of the Lafayette Building, home to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Next door, all the outdoor umbrellas at the Opaline Bar and Brasserie were warped and charred. As police and firefighters showed up to investigate, the destruction continued around them, the looters uncaring.

Meanwhile, according to this other article from the Washington Post, in the same city, right wing protestors were arrested for writing on a public sidewalk with chalk:

Two protesters arrested while chalking ‘Black Pre-Born Lives Matter’ on sidewalk

August 1, 2020

Two protesters outside a Planned Parenthood facility were arrested and charged with defacing public or private property early Saturday, according to D.C. police and video footage.

Erica Caporaletti, a 22-year-old student at Towson University, and Warner DePriest, a 29-year-old D.C. resident, were writing “Black Pre-Born Lives Matter” with chalk on the sidewalk when police arrested them.

Sidewalk chalk does not cause any permanent damage. It easily washes off when it rains. They sell sidewalk chalk at the supermarket where I buy my groceries (the Giant Eagle in Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh, PA). Children regularly use sidewalk chalk without getting arrested. This incident is the first time that I have ever, ever heard of anyone ever getting arrested for writing on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk.

Black Portland police officer shocked at racist things BLM protestors scream at him

Black Portland Police Officer Shocked At Racist Things BLM Protestors Scream At Him

Officer Jakhary Jackson has experienced the vitriol of Portland’s white woke protesters, who engage in white saviorism and destroy minority communities while claiming to champion racial equality.

In one black Portland police officer’s frontline experience, the Black Lives Matter protests in his city are not about helping black people attain better lives. What this officer sees is privileged white kids infiltrating communities that don’t belong to them to burn stuff, break things, cause trouble, incite violence, and tell black people what they should do.

This officer, Jakhary Jackson, is a nine-year veteran of the Portland Bureau of Police. After working for Nike for 10 years, Jackson joined law enforcement to “make the most out of my life by helping others.” Both sides of his family have long Portlandian roots. Jackson works where he grew up, and his love for the people of his community is evident.

A Different Kind of Racism

During a Portland press availability, Lt. Tina Jones interviewed Jackson, simply asking him to share his experience working these protests every evening for the last few months.

I’ll say this. I got to see folks that really do want change like the rest of us, that have been impacted by racism. And then I got to see those people get faded out by people who have no idea what racism is all about, that have never experienced racism, that don’t even know that the tactics they are using are the same tactics that were used against my people.

Jackson tells of a young black woman asking him one evening, while he held the line with protesters, why he wouldn’t talk with her and her friends, why he wouldn’t engage them. He explains that young black people often ask him what he thinks of all the unrest. They want to know what he thinks about the injustice, about George Floyd’s death, about the pain resulting from killings of black men.

It isn’t Jackson’s superiors who demand he not speak, it’s the young white protestors — nearly every night. Jackson explains that when “a brother or sister” approaches him, wanting his perspective on things, white protesters jump in like clockwork to tell the inquirer, “F-ck the police. Don’t talk to him.”

“That was the most bizarre thing,” Jackson says, wincing as he tells the story. “Honestly, every time I try to have a conversation with someone that looks like me, someone white comes up and blocks them and tells them not to talk.” Jackson says the very moment he was explaining this to a young black female, “this white girl pops right in front of her” and told her not to speak.

“He just said that was gonna happen!” the black girl said, stunned, is if Jackson were a fortune teller. She looked at the white girl and said, “Why did you do you that?”

Jackson continues, relaying his conversation with the girl, who interrupted: “Then I said, straight up, ‘I’ve been called the N-word. She’s been called the N-word. Why are you talking to me this way? Why do you feel she can’t speak for herself? Why do you feel you need to speak for her when we’re having a conversation?’”

“She couldn’t answer my question,” Jackson says. “All she said was, ‘Someone told me to do it.’”

A Profile of Portland Protesters

When asked about what he and fellow black officers have been subjected to by protesters who are supposedly fighting for racial justice, Jackson tells of protesters regularly threatening his life. He’s taken multiple incoming explosives thrown by rioters, some very powerful with marbles and rocks taped to them, intended to inflict maximum and sustained damage. He saved a female officer from being hit in the head with a massive projectile that he said would certainly have killed her had he not been present.

But to Jackson and his black peers, the most painful thing is white protesters’ words. “It says something when you are at a Black Lives Matter protest, and you have more minorities on the police side than you have in a violent crowd,” Jackson says. “And you have white people screaming at black officers, ‘You have the biggest nose I’ve ever seen.’”

Jackson says he is totally “cool” with people wanting to join efforts to achieve social change. What he’s seen at the Black Lives Matter events, however, “has been very strange to watch” precisely because, as he explains, so-called anti-racism tactics have come full circle: White protesters are telling black people what is best for them. Worse, these white kids are destroying black neighborhoods while they do it.

The first images Jackson saw from the protests were white people, who Jackson says are “not even from here,” burning and looting black businesses. “They don’t even know what they’re doing,” he adds. “So that to me was very angering.”

“The community is not happy with it,” he says. “They asked for the violence to stop.” Jackson tells of his cousin who had attended a Black Lives Matter event but soon left dismayed at the violence perpetrated by white rioters, saying, “This has turned into something else. This is weird.”

Jackson tells another story of a pair of young brothers he met while they were cleaning up the street after the protesters had cleared out. Jackson and a few of his fellow offers went over to shake the boys’ hands, impressed at their efforts to restore the city. “You know,” the boys told the officers, according to Jackson, “We’re from here. This is our city. I don’t understand why people are coming here and destroying it. We want to clean it up.”

An Officer’s Reality

Jackson explains how strange it is for angry white youths to come to his community, claiming they want to help, but telling him to quit his job without knowing anything about him.

Once again, you have a privileged white person telling someone of color what to do with their life. And you don’t even know what I’ve dealt with, what these white officers you’re screaming at have dealt with. You don’t know them. You don’t know anything about them.

Jackson tells how he watches his fellow officers serve the community year after year, risking their lives each day. They do whatever it takes to care for those who have been shot, not afraid to get blood on them. He knows these officers do what they do because they care deeply about all the lives in their community, regardless of skin color.

“You see [the officers], and they are truly trying to help save someone’s life, and then are called racist by people who have never seen anything like that, who have never had to put themselves out there like that. It’s really—” Jackson takes a long pause. “It’s disgusting.”

Destroyed Cleveland cupcake store owner gets threats to shut up or her business will be looted again

Destroyed Cleveland cupcake store owner gets threats to shut up or her business will be looted again

By Jon Dougherty

June 22, 2020

The owner of a small cupcake business in Cleveland that was destroyed and looted last month as riots broke out following the death of George Floyd says she’s being threatened with future harm and destruction for cooperating with police.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” Monday, Kelly Kandah, owner of Colossal Cupcakes, a family business, said the threats include people telling her that if she rebuilds, “it’s going to get hit again.”

Kandah also said that she’s been getting complaints that cooperating with police investigators is “unfair,” that she should not be working with the FBI — ostensibly to identify who looted her store — and that what she’s doing is “against the cause, which I’m actually absolutely for the cause, but it’s upsetting people that I would involve the police of something such as property.”

The cupcake seller told the Fox News morning show hosts that she and four of her employees were forced to hide in fear in a bathroom on May 30 as rioters looted her store. She added that thanks to police intervention they saved her life that day.

She told the morning show earlier this month that she has owned the shop for nearly a decade.

“My family built it up, [I] listened to it get absolutely destroyed,” Kandah told “Fox & Friends First” on June 2. “That whole time we were locked in there … I just listened to everything getting shattered and crushed.”

On Monday, she recounted that she and her employees “had to lock ourselves in the bathroom while my store was completely destroyed and ransacked,” adding that the rioters were on the other side of the door.

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt said, “And you didn’t know if they were trying to trick you and saying, ‘We’re police,’ that you would come out, right?”

Kandah agreed and explained that rioters were “pounding on the door” shortly after breaking into her store, “so I was actually skeptical that it was Cleveland police or not, but it was.”

Kandah went on to tell the co-host that a week after her business was demolished, “I was showing some of the damage and I was leaving, a friend and myself, and someone walking by approached us and said, ‘When the store rebuilds, when you rebuild this, I’m going to come back and destroy it again and you.’ He kept walking and was gone.”

When Earhardt asked Kandah if she was scared now to reopen, she replied, “Yes.”

The co-host then asked, “What do you say to the critics that say because you called the police because you are thanking them now for saving your life that you are racist and you don’t support black lives?”

“It’s just really sad,” Kandah said in response. “Unfortunately my store is not open right now and I’m so involved with the community and I’m so involved with our inner-city schools and I’m so for the cause that I do a lot of community service. Right now, I can’t. I don’t have anything being brought in to be able to donate as much as I usually do.”

Earhardt added that Kandah has donated KitchenAid mixers to young people in the past who are interested in getting into the culinary field.

Huffington Post writer Taryn Finley says black celebrities who criticize rioting, looting, arson, and black-on-black murder “should shut up”

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

June 15, 2020

Taryn Finley is a writer for the Huffington Post. She just said that black celebrities who criticize rioting, looting, arson, and black-on-black murder “should shut up.”

Here’s an excerpt from her new column: (the bolding is mine)

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/celebrities-black-lives-matter-responses_n_5ee2afb6c5b6c95050ea8d5f

Yes, Silence Can Be Violence — But These Celebs Should Shut Up

Too many Black stars have made comments condemning the movement for Black lives. It may be time to leave some of your faves behind.

By Taryn Finley

Since the string of police killings that took the lives of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and others sparked nationwide protests, celebrities and influencers have said some really wild shit. Their comments range from predictably embarrassing to shockingly ridiculous. Of course, non-Black celebs are saying dumb things on their platforms, too. (See: This incredibly empty gesture featuring white actors including Kristen Bell, Sarah Paulson and Aaron Paul really leaning into their white guilt.) But it’s especially hurtful hearing Black stars say these things during such a critical time.

A lot of celebrities have also been quicker to defend destroyed property than they have been to stand up for Black lives. Trina called Black Lives Matter protesters in Miami “animals” and called on the city to keep them off the streets. She also said that protesters need to be worried about Black-on-Black crime. Desi Banks posted a meme calling protesters engaging in civil unrest criminals. Virgil Abloh slammed the “kids that ransacked” his store in the protests and then donated a measly $50 toward a bail fund. Abloh’s net worth is $4 million. (After an online backlash, Abloh apologized for giving the impression that was the sum of his contributions and said that he had actually given $20,500 to bail funds.) People on social media also called out Lori Harvey for showing compassion over her friends’ stores that were affected by the unrest in Atlanta but initially stayed silent about Black Lives Matter. And Shekinah cried over a Gucci store that was looted.

If you don’t have anything productive to say, keep your comments to yourself

Apparently, Finley is in favor of rioting, looting, and arson, and she does not care about the 93% of black murder victims who are killed by other blacks.

And for certain, Finley thinks that anyone who is against these crimes “should shut up.”

Well, I happen to believe in free speech for everyone. And that even includes idiots such as Taryn Finley. I think her comments are ridiculous. But I would never tell her to “shut up,” because then I wouldn’t get to see how dumb she is.

More than 60 rioters, looters, and arsonists are facing federal charges. Here are their names, charges, cities, and other details.

This link has general details for all of them.

The social justice warriors, communists, and other progressives are grouped based on geography. All of the criminals in the same box committed their crimes the same city.

On the right side of the documents are blue links which contain press releases with a lot more information.

Why did George Floyd protestors destroy 70 Covid-19 testing sites?

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

Dr. Deborah Birx just said that George Floyd protestors have destroyed 70 Covid-19 testing sites.

Why did they do this?

How many black lives could end up being hurt or even killed because of this destruction?

The Left’s Eating Itself. Let them Fight.

By John Nolte

June 5, 2020

Last weekend hundreds of people came out in my little town to protest the tragic death of George Floyd. This protest took place less than three miles from my house. Want to know how I found out about it? Well, because it was perfectly peaceful and didn’t involve firebombs and rioting, I found out about it four days later in my local paper.

Hundreds came out in my little town! Hundreds. It was mostly students from the Alma Mater I dropped out of, but still… Hundreds! And not a peep of unrest. Just Americans being Americans.

You see, that’s how we roll out here in Rural America. While the stupid Democrats who vote for Democrats stress and worry  about another round of looting and burning this weekend in their Democrat-run cities, all I’m worried about is the weather. I got grass to cut … on my tractor mower … the one with the bourgeois cup holder.

If Democrats want to riot in Democrat-run cities, what the hell do I care? How does this affect me? I’m not responsible for it. I didn’t vote for it. Hell, if it weren’t for my job, I’d hardly be paying attention.

Blue on blue violence is not my problem. The left eating itself is not my problem. In fact, the only feeling all this mayhem emits from me — and I’m not terribly proud of this — is a twinge of smug satisfaction in the form of Toldjaso.

The moment Barack Obama embraced and legitimized the left-wing terrorists in Occupy Wall Street (that have now morphed into Antifa and Black Lives Matter), I toldjaso. The moment Obama and the corporate media embraced the Trayvon Martin, Hands Up, Don’t Shoot, and Baltimore hoaxes, I toldjaso. I saw the writing on the wall and got the hell out of Los Angeles in 2011.

The left is eating itself.

Watching conservatives stress over this baffles me.

As the meme goes Let them fight.

I can understand the stress if you’re a Republican living in a Democrat-run city, but you need to get out. It’s just that simple… You need to get out. Unfortunately, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better — but they will get better, just like things got better after all the unrest of the 60s.

Eventually, even Democrats will sue for peace by voting for a Rudy Giuliani, because all this baloney about social justice is just the Democrat Party reverting to the soft-on-crime party that  imploded in 1972.

Relax.

Sit back.

You get what you vote for and Democrats voted for this.

Sorry, but it’s a waste of time to care about people more than they care about themselves.

I’m certainly not happy about what’s happening. It just it what it is. So…

Let them fight.

It gets better…

As though my Toldjaso Cup has not runneth over enough already these past ten days, the New York Times is embroiled in a civil war. On Thursday, a fight broke out between the aging liberals and the young fascists, and the fascists won — the blacklisters won.

Let them fight.

What the hell do I care if the New York Times blacklists opinion? I haven’t been a serious consumer of the Times in over a decade. There’s a ton of alternate media out there, tons of places for Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) to publish an op-ed.

This isn’t the end of the world. This isn’t the end of free speech. This is one more step in the total disintegration of a far-left news outlet, and that pleases me to no end.

This is not just happening at the Times. It’s also happening at *teehee* the far-left Variety, where the left ate its own editor-in-chief, Claudia Eller. You’re gunna love why… Her groveling We’re Not Diverse Enough confession was not groveling enough.

Fourteen months ago, Eller was accepting awards from something called the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, and today she got cancelled by her own.

Last night, while the monsters Eller helped create ran around the Twitters with her head on pig pole, I was LOL’n watching my Jeffersons DVDs.

The left eating itself is not my problem.

Over the past few days, the left just canceled the very face of the most left-wing television show of the last 20 years, Glee. To be honest, I took no pleasure in watching her get picked apart in front of the whole world. It was beyond revolting. Still…

Let them fight.

And now we’ve arrived at Defund the police!

Oh, yes, please do…

Please do defund the police in Democrat-run cities…

This I gotta see.

Good people need to get out of the cities.

All of us need to get out of the left’s way.

Regardless of what the media are trying to portray it as, this is nothing close to a nationwide movement or revolution. Rather, it’s a bubbled temper tantrum unfurling in a few dozen deep blue bubbles.

Let them fight.

Neighborhoods where stores were destroyed become food deserts overnight

Neighborhoods where stores were destroyed become food deserts overnight

By Marielle Segarra

June 4, 2020

In many neighborhoods that have seen looting and vandalism over the past week, residents are now left with few — if any — grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential businesses. Which is made even harder by the fact that lots of stores are also closed because of the pandemic.

There’s a 6-mile long commercial corridor in South Minneapolis called Lake Street, and it has been destroyed.

“We no longer have pharmacies in our community,” said ZoeAna Martinez, who works for the Lake Street Council, a business association. “We no longer have gas stations as well. Our largest grocery stores are also gone,” Martinez said. “Right now, our community, we live in a food desert, which happened overnight.”

In Minneapolis and Saint Paul, hundreds of businesses have been damaged or burned to the ground. The same has happened in cities around the country.

“Pretty much half of a city block completely burned down Sunday night,” said Bea Rider, interim executive director of the New Kensington Community Development Corp., a neighborhood group in Philadelphia. Pharmacies, bodegas, clothing stores, check-cashing spots — all gone. And these losses hurt certain groups more than others.

“Low-income families who are underbanked, so they rely on check-cashing businesses, they’re definitely feeling a pinch,” Rider said.

Also, people who don’t have cars to drive to an intact store in the suburbs. And seniors who may have trouble getting around and who are more likely to need prescriptions filled.

“This is all in the background as the pandemic is still very much with us, and some businesses had curtailed certain degrees of operation because of that,” said Tabitha Montgomery, executive director of the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association in Minneapolis.

Community groups and churches are trying to fill the gap with donated supplies, but that’s a short-term fix. And Montgomery said she thinks the neighborhood will bear the scars of this moment for decades, even after the stores are rebuilt.
