Poll: What do you think of the New York State Board of Regents eliminating the requirement for new teachers to pass a literacy test?

“The Board of Regents on Monday eliminated a requirement that aspiring teachers in New York State pass a literacy test to become certified after the test proved controversial because black and Hispanic candidates passed it at significantly lower rates than white candidates.”

Have they list their minds? As an African American I disagree with that policy. I don’t care what color the teacher is as long as he/she is educated to teach the children in our family. The world of education is losing its mind. No cursive writing, no grammar/spelling checks…..just sending ignorant children into the world because we know educated people question things, research and do not accept everything at face value. An ignorant population lessens the risk they will question things but instead choose to follow the herd.
