Reminder: President Obama broke the law when he released five Islamic terrorists in exchange for U.S. Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl

In June 2009, U.S. Army private first class Bowe Bergdahl deserted his post.

Six U.S soldiers died while searching for Bergdahl.

Instead of being court-martialed for his desertion, Bergdahl was promoted to the rank of specialist in June 2010, and later promoted to the rank of sergeant in June 2011. Since President Obama was Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military at the time, he had final approval or denial of these promotions. Obama’s allowing these promotions to happen is an expression of his de facto support for Bergdahl’s desertion.

Although Bergdahl had deserted his post, in June 2014, Susan Rice, Obama’s national security adviser, falsely said that Bergdahl had been “captured on the battlefield” and had served “with honor and distinction.”

In May 2014, Obama released five “high risk” Taliban terrorists in exchange for deserter Bergdahl. These Islamic terrorists were wanted by the United Nations for possible war crimes, including thousands of murders.

However, in January 2015, Eric Schultz, Obama’s Deputy Press Secretary, falsely said, “We don’t give concessions to terrorist organizations.”

Furthermore, federal law requires the President to notify Congress 30 days before releasing terrorists. However, Obama did not give this advance notification.

Although Bergdahl could have received life in prison for his desertion, this past week U.S. military judge Col. Jeffery R. Nance issued a sentence which exempted Bergdahl from having to spend any time whatsoever in prison for his desertion.

Finally, I’d like to remind everyone that in 2010, President Obama supported releasing Abdel Baset al-Megrahi from prison. Known as the “Lockerbie bomber,” Megrahi was an Islamic terrorist who had been convicted of murdering 270 people.
