However, in 2007, the Bush administration used the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to prosecute a fisherman who had thrown undersize fish back into the water off the coast of Cortez, Florida. The Obama administration continued with this prosecution until 2015, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it was illegal to use the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for this purpose.
