Math illiteracy from level 1 customer service

The BBC reports:

Solenne San Jose, from Pessac outside Bordeaux, said she received a huge shock when she opened the bill for 11,721,000,000,000,000 euros

Well, I figure that’s just some kind of a bug in a computer program. After all, no human being could possibly think that that amount was legitimate. So she called customer service to talk to an actual human being.

However, the article then says:

The phone company, Bouygues Telecom, initially told her there was nothing they could do to amend the computer-generated statement

Nothing they could do to amend the statement? That’s a big fat load of bantha pudu.

The customer service representative then

offered to set up installments to pay off the bill

Ha ha! That’s absolutely hilarious!

I can hear it now:

“You can pay 100 euros per month until your balance is paid in full.”

“But the sun is going to blow up in 4.5 billion years, and I won’t be able to finish paying it off.”

“That’s no excuse – you’ll still have to continue making the payments until your balance is paid in full.”

Hahahaha Typical bureaucrats and the semi literate turds that work for them. I am reminded of Lily Tomlins classic “Ernestine from the phone company” routine. Have a look for it on youtube, and thanks for the smile
