Curious – how does WordPress count RSS readers? If it’s reporting a “hit” for every headline I skim past on Google Reader, then it’s overestimating. If it’s giving you a single “hit” for every time Google spiders the RSS feed and copies everyone following the feed, then it’s underestimating.

That’s an excellent question. I hadn’t thought about that at all. I honestly don’t know. I do have a statistics page with info for each day. During yesterday, August 22, 2012 (I won’t use today because the day is not over yet and it changes continuously) I had a total of 504 hits from all sources. Of those, 337 were “referrers,” i.e., people who got to my blog by clicking on a link at another site. It even has a breakdown of how many of those 337 came from each domain, such as facebook, twitter, etc. It doesn’t say where the other 167 came from. I do have 41 followers, so that likely accounts for some of the 167. A few people may have my blog bookmarked. A few may get links from email. Some people may see my blog listed on a website, but there is no clickable link, so they copy and past the URL into their browser. There may be other ways, such as what you mentioned. I certainly hope that they don’t undercount or overcount.

Congrads, That’s a milestone. BTW: I’m always personally interested in blogs and views in this greater area.
